  • Well, I never did get any exercise in last night, so I had to take another pause. I had a great work out today though, and so I complete day 7! And day 2 no beer! I hope I can go 2 weeks of exercise with out a pause!! Next week might be a little tricky because of my son's football camp.
I really feel like my running has come a long way. I occasionally fall into a zone where I feel I can just keep going and going. It feels good. It doesn't last though. But it means I'm getting somewhere, making progress.
Jolly- I admire your perspective on studying. My brain totally stopped working that way since I had kids. I hope it comes back. Best of luck to you! And good job on your restarts!
  • Hi all. Took a workout pause again, but met the other 3. Apple, I wish I could say I was making progress in my running. I realized that I have some sort of mental block when I start actually training. I was loving it when I was just doing 2-3 miles. Also, my sister has been sick, so she isn't training either, and she was going to do the half marathon with me. We decided that
5k races this year will still work, but not to push the big one.

    Have a great one all.
  • Day 1 - good - Follow eating plan - level 3
Day 1 - good - At least 1/2 plate vegies at dinner which I eat first - level 3
Day 1 - good - Put utensil down between bites - level 3
    Day 1 - good - Only eat while sitting - level 3

Ok, quick catch-up! Had a couple of busy days and didn't start my new challenges until yesterday.

Hi Apple, Jolly, Red & Pink!
  • Day 8 exercise, day 3 no beer.
Bleh. Post-op sucks. Grumpy grumpy grumpy. And I'm a lousy nurse too, that's not helping any. I can't wait until 2 weeks from now. Things will be better.
Jolly, I haven't gone over 3 miles myself, I don't feel like I have the time to. Maybe you should try a 10K. Back when I was in shape I would run 10Ks instead of 5Ks because I thought the 5K was too short, time wise anyway. Why bother making all that effort to get up early, drive somewhere etc just for a short race? I can't run that far now.
Oh, I'm really feeling sorry for myself tonight so I'll just spare you guys.
    Hi DJ, Red and Pink!
  • Good luck with your patient, and your patience, Apple. I hope all goes well. For me, it wasn't physical, just something in my head was freaking out. Being a penguin, I like the 5ks, but depending on how things go this summer, might try a 10k.

I just have to report a quick, small, good decision. i was really tired and had talked myself out of working out this morning. I was going to pack my bag and go after work. Now first, this never happens. Half the time I forget to grab the bag I pack. And second, it would have thrown off all the other things i need to do today and tomorrow. But, I didn't care. I sat down and had a food porn breakfast (yes, pausing on menu). Then, my inner good girl stood up and was counted. With a stuffed belly, I went and worked out anyway. YEah.

    Have a good day all.
  • working hard!
jolly, you go!! Workout after porn! Wow! Apple, excellent work. dj, good for you for coming right back with new challenges...and, if I forgot (think I did) Congratulations on making your challenge!!!!
    Pink, mez where are you?!

I'm flying out tomorrow, back to Japan. I've been working out hard and eating pretty healthfully I think. The exercise feels soooo good.
I think I've tightened up. Yeah! Will be back with challenges soon!
  • Day 2 & 3 - good - Follow eating plan - level 3
    Day 2 & 3 - good - At least 1/2 plate vegies at dinner which I eat first - level 3
    Day 2 & 3 - good - Put utensil down between bites - level 3
    Day 2 - good - Only eat while sitting - level 3

Took a pause on the eating while sitting. I forgot, and munched on something while cooking dinner.

Red - Hope your trip home went well! Great job on all that exercise!

Hi Jolly & Apple! Hope all is well. Got to run.
  • Day 9 exercise (no pauses left) Day 4 no beer (2 pauses left)
We went out for mexican last night and I passed on the beer but chose a tasty and still alternate. (we're talking empty calories here)
Not that I've been doing much dieting but I feel like my exercising should be making a difference and its not. I'm not pigging out or anything either. Oh well.
Hi Red! I can't believe your trip went by so fast. Looking forward to seeing more of you here.
Hi DJ, off to a good start!
Hey Jolly, good save the other day. Some times a slip up in one area inspires extra effort in another!
  • Hey all. Red, hope you have a safe trip back. Apple, I hear you on the not really dieting. Very poor choices on this side too. DJ, keep up the good work.

Well, y'all keep your fingers crossed. I sent an email to law school, to find out if I could even be considered due to my undergrad GPA. I don't want to spend the time and money on the LSAT if there is nothing I can do to balance out that. I hope!!
  • Day 10 exercise and day 5 no beer. I think now that I've past the point of restarts for the no beer, I feel like I might actually complete it this time.
    Hello to everyone, happy Saturday!
  • land of the rising sun...
Well, I'm back and getting ready to get out to go to the stable now. I have momentum! I took off some fat. It was exquisite to exercise so much. I really, really want to keep this going and not fall victim to work. I will be back later today with new challenges. Wish me luck all!

    **************

Apple -- That's great with the challenges! Five days without beer may not sound like much to some, but I know how hard that is. It becomes such a habit, just like anything else, but more so, because of the alcohol's effects. My first night in the States and I hit the bar till its 2:30 a.m. closing time. Jet lag had a lot to do with that, but after that I didn't have one, so that makes nearly two weeks with no booze whatsoever. I have the momentum now and would like to stay off if for many reasons, but the biggest is simply the weight it stacks on. Good luck to you! Oh, and yeah, Apple, I just saw an earlier post by you and I want to share this quote I found in a magazine on my way back. It really spoke to me.

    "If you focus on results,
    you will never change.
    If you focus on change,
    you will get results."

I like this. I've always just focused on the results. When I saw them I was elated. When I didn't, I lost heart and blew it. Now that I have a little momentum, I'm going to try to use it to focus on change, changing my eating habits, exercise habits AND drinking habits!

jolly -- Thank you, I'm back and the trip went beautifully. Sure helps flying business class! Wow. Great stuff and it really helped that I had a handsome hunk of an Argentinian sitting next to me! The flight attendants were great too. Yum. Best of luck with your law school inquiries. Get cracking with your challenges! I'm joining you today!!

dj -- Thanks! I am back safe and sound. I've only seen three of my cats and am worried about the one. I'm going out to see my horse now, but hear she's well.
You've got a lot of challenges there. I'll be joining you later in the day. Stay tuned!
  • Day 11 exercise and Day 6 no beer.
    Welcome back Red!
  • Day 4 & 5 - good - Follow eating plan - level 3
    Day 4 & 5 - good - At least 1/2 plate vegies at dinner which I eat first - level 3
    Day 4 & 5 - good - Put utensil down between bites - level 3
    Day 3 & 4 - good - Only eat while sitting - 2 pauses left

Ok, another quick catch up. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be less busy!

Glad you made it home safe and sound Red! Did you find your other cat?

    Hi Jolly & Apple!
  • Here we go
I think/hope I understand the rules. But here I go anyway.

    Day 1
    - No eating after 7pm: Its not 7pm yet, so I can't say if this is done or not.
    - No pop or candy: Good! 3 pauses left
    - Putting silverware down between bites/eating slowly: Not so good. 2 pauses left
  • Hey all. Feeling pretty low right now. Had a pretty bad weekend, and I don't even know why. I am restarting all of my challenges tomorrow.

everyone else, keep plugging away. Red, welcome back. Glad you had a good trip, and hope you find your cat.
