  • Hi everyone, I'm new and very grateful I found this forum!
  • Welcome Thingirl - I hope you will come and post here with us a lot so we can get to know you! Good luck on your weight loss venture.

Hope all is well with everyone - I will probably be missing again for a few days. Our 14 yr old granddaughter was hit by a car - she is home now with a broken leg but will probably have to have surgery Wednesday (waiting to hear from our son) so we most likely will be going downstate. I'm so thankful it was not more serious - it happened right as she got out of school - they don't know who did it tho .. hit and run.

I don't have much else to chat about right now. I walked again today after Curves - 5 miles - up to 271 miles total walked now. I'm going to walk these lbs off me no matter how long it takes!

Hope you all had a great day - I'll try to slip in and post again before we leave.

    Later...
    Love, CJ
  • CJ- Congrats on the new great-grandbaby. I'm sorry to hear about your granddaughter. Hope everything works out for her and she doesn't have to have surgery.

Well, I had my weigh in today at WW. Last week, I lost only 0.2 pounds. This week it was 3.6 pounds. I am down to 195. Since I have seriously started to loose weight, I have lost a total of 21 pounds. Since joining WW, I have lost 8.4 pounds!. I'm almost 1/2 way to my 10% goal of 20 pounds!!!

I have been busy at the Civic theatre with the current production. I am having so much fun with it. I am working backstage again, and am responsible for some props, and since this show has a several blackouts for scene changes, I am also responsible to make sure the actors get off stage safely. We've had a couple accidents with them running into furniture, doors, and each other. Might be a bit funny when the lights come on, but not too funny for the actors and there heads, ankles, etc. I think I'm there favorite person some days with my handy little flashlight.

The worse part for me working with the theatre is during the shows, people bring in food to share. I snacked all weekend during the shows. And, of course, it's nothing healthy. Potato chips, dip, and brownies. But, as busy as I was this weekend at home and at the theatre, I really didn't eat much, so I guess the snacking I did do kinda evened out weight wise this week. I plan on bringing in my own snack this next weekend. Maybe some veggies and fat-free veggie dip, or a WW dessert to share.

Luckily, I have a good friend that is in the show that keeps me from snacking too much. Actually, he's worse than my mom getting onto me about eating things I'm not supposed to. The other actors/actresses kind of get a kick out of it though. They catch me sneaking a brownie (honestly, very very small pieces here and there--might add up to one normal sized brownie the whole weekend) and then they start looking for my friend and warning me he's over there, or he's coming. It's almost a game to them to see if I get away with being able to eat without him catching me. One of the guys let me hide behind him so I wouldn't get caught. But, my friend is also my biggest supporter in my weight loss. He seems better than a scale anyday at noticing if I've lost or not. Always has a kind word of encouragement to say, even when I haven't lost as much as I think I should. He is really good with postive comments, and never says anything negative to me. He's a good boost in my self-esteem! I guess you could say he's the kind of person that can always see the silver lining in a cloud, even a rain cloud.

Guess that is it for now. I will try and post a little more often. Should be easier after the weekend and the final three shows are over.

  • hiiii. i'm new too, and very happy i found this forum!

i just finished a semester abroad in spain. it was amazing! definitely one of the best experiences i've ever had. unfortunately, i gained about 15 extra pounds (i know that isn't a lot for some people, but for my very short stature it is.) i guess laying on the beach, going out to the bars, and having your host mom feed you like crazy every day doesn't help. i didn't workout either. oops? i'm in china right now for a summer internship, and visiting my mom (who moved here for work my freshman year in college). but here i am to get back to my healthy self before i head home to the states for my senior year in college! hmm..i wonder who i should ask to senior ball?
  • Hi Everyone!
I have been so busy since I posted last. Since my daughter, Tracy had baby Tyler on Easter I have been to Illinois to visit her and the baby twice and she has been in Indiana visiting us twice as well. I guess I really miss that little guy, who is now 2 months old and so cute and I don't want to miss him growing up. Last weekend we had a big bar b que for everyone to meet little Tyler and see my son, Alan, who is home on leave from South Korea for a month, along with his girlfrend, Tina from Pennsylvania. This way they got to have all their friends who haven't seen them and both Al and Trace invited their friends to see them and meet the baby too. We had a great time. I didn't do too bad, only gained .2 lbs, and I didn't think that was bad, with the bar b que and all the eating out we did, like The Cheesecake Factory in Indy we went there where I think I made some not too bad choices I thought.

Well for more good news, my other daughter, Kelly and her husband are expecting a boy as well in October. My husband, Ken and I went with her to her ultrasound appointment last week and we found out she was having a boy. So now I will have 2 grandsons come mid October. My gosh our house is going to be so busy with little boys by the holidays.

CJ-Gosh I am so sorry about your Grandaughters accident, but am glad that she will be alright, even though she broke her leg. I hope everything goes well if she has surgery. But I am so happy about your Great Grandaughter, how wonderful is that. Here you have Great Grandchildren and I am just starting out with Grandchildren. I have a ways to go to catch up with you, but I think we are are both lucky Grandma's. I never knew being a Grandma was so much fun.

Kim-Wow you are doing so great with your weight loss, 21 pounds, that is great. It sounds like you are having a ball with your theater work. I think that is something I would love too. How wonderful that you have your theater friend looking out for you foodwise. It is great that he is so postive for you as well.

kateconfissional-A great big welcome to you. Lucky you being able to study in Spain. How nice is that? And now you are in China, that is exciting too. Ican imagine how hard it must be with everyone there feeding you all the time that you live with. I know your 15 lbs is a lot to you, we will be here to help support you. Glad you joined us.

thingirl in fatbody-Hello to you too and welcome to our wonderful group. I am looking forward to getting to know you better. Tell us about yourself when you post.

Lisa-I'm with you on the trying to get back on program. I am going through that too, being mostly off since the birth of my Grandson on Easter. Too much traveling and doings in my life. We will get there, one day at a time, like you said.

2 B Fat No More-Sorry about your pulled calf, hope by now it is feeling much better. How lucky you are that you and your husband will be going to Prague. I would love that, have a great time there.

Dallas-No, please don't give up, I am not going to either. I know it is rough to get back on track, I too have been stuggling as well. You will get back to where you want to be, we will help each other. The bright side is that you have not gained any weight, which is great I think. Remember "One Day At A Time" will be our motto. Let's both kick some serious butt!

Eliz-You made a pretty good choice at Mc Donalds, at least you had a salad and skipped the fries like you could have. Good for you with your exercise, I know your dog probably really loves you for all the outdoor exercise.

OK better get this posted, hope I addressed everyone. I will keep on plugging along. This weekend, we will be going to Pennsylvania to meet our son's girlfriend, Tina's parents in Pittsburgh. We have never met them and since the kids are getting serious everyone thought it was high time we met. I will write more next week after we get back from PA.

I will talk to you soon, Sassy Sharon
  • Welcome kate, Welcome thingirlinfatbody!

Congratulations Kim!!! You must feel great!

CJ, I'm so glad your granddaughter will be able to pull through
after this accident. Our city just had a high-profile case where
a driver hit somebody, and then another car came along and hit the
same person again. Both cars sped away. There were witnesses
    and both drivers were caught.

Sharon, two grandkids the same age will be great, and all the more
reason for the extended family to get together more often.

My daughter's birthday cake was my first time off "low-carb" in a while
and it's been rough. After a good sized low-carb breakfast, I ate a small
piece of cake (no frosting). Less than an hour later I had another. It
didn't feel like a carbohydrate addiction at the time.
Less than an hour after that, extremely hungry, I had my healthy brunch
snack option, which is a huge bowl of asian soup with tofu and veggies.
An hour later I was really hungry and ate a large
low-carb lunch of jumbo prawns and veggies in curry sauce.
Lunch was delicious and my stomach has plenty of mass inside it,
but soon after finishing it, I was absolutely famished.
Unless I willed myself to stop, I was subconsciously chewing my
lip and biting the inside of my mouth, and I felt like I wanted to kill
somebody. How can I be famished beyond belief, even though I have
literally hundreds of calories of food undigested in my stomach?!?!
The same amount of food, minus the cake, would have been comfortable
for me yesterday, but today with the extra cake I'm crawling out
of my skin. Next I had some higher-fat low-carb foods, instead
of just lowfat protein and vegetables, and that got me over the
worst of it, but still, I feel like crap.

  • My first post on the weekly chit chat and im so happy i found this site..such great inspiration and support. Well done to everybody on the road to being thin, happy and confident..I have a party to go to in a couple months and will fight the battle of weight loss. Heading out for a jog now!!
  • HI all!

I used to post here quite a bit but I've been MIA for a couple of months. Now that I'm out of school for the summer I've got more time to do "me" stuff. I had lost 10 lbs, I gained 7 of it back and I've accomplished to get rid of 2 of it this week so right now I'm at a net loss of 5 pounds with plenty more to go.

I joined the swimsuit challenge and my challenge is to walk atleast one mile every day, to have completely given up sodas by the end of June, and to loose the 5 lbs I gained back by the end of this month. All of which are do-able I've just got to keep at it.

CJ I have a question for you. How long does it take you to walk five miles and how long did it take you to work up to that? I'm doing really well right now to get one mile under my belt in the AM and one mile in the PM. I've been really consistent with my morning walks but having a 7 month old baby boy who has a reign of terror every night at bedtime makes getting out the door for my evening walk quite challenging sometimes and there are times it's just too dark once I get him to bed. DH won't let me walk in the dark. He's worried someone will run me over or someone's dog will eat me.

Well girls, it's good to be back!
