  • I have a really early morning meeting tomorrow. They should have called it a sunrise session.

Doubt there will be time to post tomorrow. So I'll say my good mornings now. Hope you all had a nice Easter. We made a ham basted with bourbon with a bourbon mustard glaze. It smelled like a highball. Ugh. I was fully ready to blame DH as it was his suggestion. The end result was moist and tender but we both agreed it tasted like... ham. You would never have known that it was carefully basted with bourbon for 2 hours and then carefully trimmed and basted for another hour and a half with a honey/bourbon/mustard glaze that DH lovingly put together. It just tasted like regular old baked ham. Moist and not salty. The potato salad I made was disappointing. Perhaps that was God's way of making sure I wasn't tempted to eat too much of it. (THANK YOU ) DH can have it all as far as I care. I'm not a ham person and I told him this when we were picking out a 9 pound ham together. Ah well - it will be good chopped up into salads with some sliced turkey and dried cranberries. I tried another WW recipe at lunch to use up some of the leftover chicken tenders. It's sauted chicken with a mixture of toasted pine nuts (pignolias), garlic, shallots, asparagus. You then cook down some FF chicken broth and tarragon and then mix the pine nut mix in and serve it over the chicken. Everything is cooked in the same pan so it picks up the tasty bits from the first step of frying up the chicken. It was absolutely heavenly. I can't wait for lunch tomorrow to finish it up. And it was only 5 points, plus a tossed green salad (0) points, 1 spoon of Italian Dressing (1 point) and a glass of LF milk. I was very satisfied. I was still ok at dinner which allowed me to only have a taste of the ham, potato salad and corn.

I am getting used to tracking - it's much easier online than in the little books - you can look stuff up, enter it yourself and it will remember favorites and adjust servings to adjust points. Every recipe I've tried so far I've liked. I even tried one of the WW cereals for breakfast this morning - Cinnamon Crunch - like puffed wheat with some crunchy bits. I added 1/2 cup milk and some fresh sliced strawberries. I thought it was tasty. DH said it was bland. Of course - he's used to eating the Sugar Crisp version of the cereal! The only thing with cereal is that it makes me really hungry an hour later. I'm much better with eating protein in the morning. Even if it's just a LF yogurt and a LF cheese stick. Eggs seem to fill me up the best for the longest. Sometimes I pick up a scrambled egg in our cafeteria on the way in.

I sure do have a taste for pancakes now that we're talking about maple syrup. No Happy NO

And the pancake syrup you got with DS2's pancakes Shad - not the same as maple syrup. They are both pretty sugary but maple tastes better.

The alarm is ringing at 5. Better get ready for bed. Good night all. Pleasant dreams.

Nice to see you pop in Ruth!
  • SHAD I SHOULD HAVE READ YOUR POST LAST NIGHT!! YES THE FEET ARE A BIT SWOLLEN BUT I TASTED THE SALT RIGHT AWAY AND DID NOT EAT VERY MUCH. HAPPY MONDAY
  • Didn’t mean to go awol for soooo long. It only seemed like a day or too. I’m going to try to catch up. OMG: dancing broccoli!!! And where did Easter GO? I stayed away from most food except some chocolate chip cookies and pizza. Otherwise I either ate nothing, or ate healthy. I think it is a general improvement, but neither my scales nor my pants are saying anything complimentary.
I also wonder if I’m developing some weird narcolepsy. I slept and slept this weekend (it reverted to cold, cloudy and gray after a month of very spring like weather. There was even a bit of snow on our bluebells. Anyway, I’m going to have to be very careful with spell check, because I keep dozing off. I wonder about driving hope from the office. At least I don’t have much I HAVE to do this evening.
Cute Easter smilies. I found out that the pagans thought the goddess Oestre somehow got rabbits and birds mixed up, so they thought rabbits actually LAID the eggs. It doesn’t seem logical, but it does sort of make sense. (Wouldn’t it have been awful if Warthogs had started laying eggs?

    Quote:
Made short but eventful trip to Paragould this week end. Shampooed my aunt and uncle's living room carpet. It does look a lot better.
Aren’t you the sweet one. I hope they appreciated it.
Hope your niece is well. A little venom goes a long way.
Glad you had your leg checked out and that they took you seriously. As we get longer, we aren’t so sensitive, I think, but we get hurt just as much.

Happy: Stick with the online WW. Sounds like you are getting quite a bit out of it. If you love the dairy… figure out what compensating choices will help. I agree that some of the leaders (thinned down, or not) seem to just have issues of their own. I am still recommending J. Beck’s “Beck Diet Solution: with all of it’s insight into to talk to yourself AND how to encourage yourself as needed. Like your take on oatmeal. I confess to throwing in some brown sugar, then hut pieces (pecans or walnuts and dried cranberries from “Sprouts” (craisins are toooo sweet)… makes a great morning tummy filler.

Shad: Glad that the Tsunami was a false alarm for you guys. Too bad the gits in your class DID materialize.

Melody… what a cute hoppy Bunny and Koala! Did you animate them yourself? Or find them animated someplace? The other “C” ones were cute, too.
Did I tell you that I think I might have a wheat or gluten allergy? When I was being good (about two weeks ago) I stopped all of the “white” and refined foods… and low and behold my skin all cleared up. And the insane skin itching stopped, too. Since then I had a self-indulgent time with pizza and cookies and mochas. To the extent that I could separate them, I really think it is the wheat that makes it especially bad. So when I really really want to wheat I should put on tennis shoes and take a walk.

Carla: congrats on the Fatflush results and 9 pounds gone.

Rosebush… glad to hear your mom is recuperating well… any suggestions she gives you (or her MD’s give) on how to keep our hearts strong are welcome. Happy to hear there’s a partner in your life. I think I’ve told everybody that what made current DH so awesome is that he joined me to read “Radical Honesty” and we’ve both stuck too it. It keeps us both real AND honest. (a surprisingly challenging attitude to keep!)
My DH certainly understands that HE needs alone time and “cave time.” It is amazing how much better he hears me when I used HIS own vocabulary back at him!

  • Hello to all. I'm back from Springfield, Mo. Had to run some errands when I got back, dr's office, work, and the bank. I had my regular dr. to check my leg because of the swelling in bruises that came this week end. He said that it was blood draining from the hematoma, and told me to keep off my leg as much as possible. My blood pressure was up also 168/100. He asked me if I had been under stress, and told him that I had just got back from a trip. I'll take half of a paxil tonight. Who knew that driving could be stressful. I thought I was enjoying my drive. It could be the anxiety of dealing with the treatment of the leg.

I really had a good visit. My nephew was confirmed to the Catholic church Saturday night. It was a nice service. His girlfriend introduced me to her grandmother as aunt Jeanette. I'm expecting to hear wedding bells very, very soon. Andy said that they had already picked out baby names. He wants 4 boys and one girl.
Both nephews were at my sister's/their mom's house on Easter for lunch. Chester brought his girlfriend and her daughter. My sister is excited about the little girl. She's really wanting to be a grandmother. We had more than enough food and I really tried to stay away from the chocolate. I missed my fruit.

Now I need to go back and read the posts.
  • Afternoon all,
Back in Townsville. All Easter is over for me. Mind you I was over Easter when I saw the crowds at the shops on Monday.

Hope everyone had a good time and stayed mostly away from the Chocolate.

Painter - good to hear you are eating healthy. Once you get into the groove you tend to lose your taste for the fatty stuff. I did anyway. I don't crave much these days and I tend to go looking in the fridge for good stuff and not bad stuff.
Too bad the pants are not yet reflecting the change although sometimes it takes a while.

No much to report here. Uneventful flight up - except I got put in business class - much nicer than travelling cattle class.
Been training this morning and am now back in the office to sort out some doco and some wee problems that have arisen.

    Back later.
  • Morning chicks,

Another cheery day This SAP implementation has been anything but easy - work is more chaotic than ever. I am trying to stay out of most of the tornado but I am involved in parts of it. I am having a bloody nose - probably from it being cold and dry with the furnace again. The tendonitis is still bothering me mostly I assume because I simply cannot stop using the hand. The powers that be will not allow me to simply sit with my hand on a pillow, ice pack on hand, doing nothing for a few days.

Shad - isn't business class nice? The bumped me once - I couldn't believe my luck and it was a long west coast flight too. I would hate to travel as you do - some of those smaller planes are true cattle cars. Hope you don't have to play "mother hen" to the brood this week and you can settle down and get some things finished. Does this contract take you up to the point of your vacation?

Ceejay - glad to hear you had a good visit. Your nephew sounds a bit older to be getting his confirmation - is he a convert to Catholicism?

Painter - that's an interesting point about the correlation between sugar and itchy skin. Hmm Also funny about the men in our lives listening when we talk like them They say women use twice as many words in speaking. Guess the guys get tired and just turn their ears off Good for you for getting back on the wagon again. I think we're all a little more tired with the weather being cooler. It's like heading into winter again.

Hello Mel, you sound like a busy lady. When you're done, want to come over and clean up my place too? It's time to go through those little - what do they call them? - hot spots? Supposed to get a little warmer as the week wears on. I'll send some warmth to you IF it shows up here

Time to get the butt in gear I guess. Hellos to the rest of the worldly chicks
  • GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! LOTS OF SUN AND COLD HERE. I KEEP LAUGHING WITH JEN CAUSE WE BOTH KNOW WE'LL BE COMPLAINING OF THE HEAT SOON.

  • Morning all
Hello to everyone, hope this finds all well and happy, determined to continue our healthy choice lifestyles. It was a great weekend and today I start on Carla's recipe.... have to make a trip to the health food store. At first myBF said he would like to join me but I think he says things first...sitting in front of the TV at night is so dangerous for him. The food commercials are so open your mouth go to the fridge the cupboard and put **** into it!!!! Even if he follows it a little he bound to lose some pounds those darn men can shed it so much faster...... all that muscle. Any ho I am anxious to try it .....I will report back Carla if I have any questions and let you know how it is going.

Painter thanks somuch for the title of the book you shared with your hubby. I will check into it. There are some issues that we need to express and I am not wanting to feel him pressure me again....so that if and when we get to the change inliving situations I am there with a happy heart. Can two blockhead Norweigns live together in Peace and Harmony????

Mel hope all you eastern gals are staying warm.... wow your got hit again....last winter blast I hope.... don't want the blossoms to die. Hope you are well today Mel...... Have a good one.

Shad how many more days til you travel? I think it is so awesome you are going to come and see these great ladies. What a kick! Shad where is Teel these days????

To the rest of you keep on making heart healthy choices by summer we will be ready to do anything.....
    Peace,
    Nae
  • Well, Easter's over, and I noticed Happy has already changed her avatar - very cute, although I must confess I still miss the cute little frog kittie. The last couple of days have been a little high in calories - bread, yummm; wine, yummier. My clothes aren't any tighter yet, but the scale has been rather unkind. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll snap out of this fit of the munchies before too long.

I PM'd a short version of the Fat Flush program to Nae. If anyone else wants it, let me know and I'll forward via PM. All the fresh veg and fruit and lean protein sound a bit pricey at first, but once you factor in the savings on junk and coffees and fast food and soft drinks and frappucinos it's actually no more costly than the average overeater's diet. I may go back to it after a few more days of "regular" eating, especially since I just bought a humongous container of overpriced whey protein... I almost miss the diluted cranberry juice. Who knew!

Mel, please send me some of that bout of the trots - I seem to have slowed down to a stop, and don't like the effect on my weigh-ins.

No more time for today, take care all.
  • NAE I AM SENDING GOOD VIBES FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE BOOK AND ANY CHANGES IN LIVING SITUATIONS! KEEPING THE LINE OF SPEECH OPEN IS THE ANSWER TO SO MANY THINGS. GOOD LUCK!! 2 NORWEGIANS CAND AND WILL DO THIS!!!

CARLA~ STEP AWAY FROM THE WINDE BOTTLE AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT....AND ALSO THE GOODIES!! LOL
IS THIS A BALANCED PLAN? OR A DETOX THING? I WAS BROWSING 3FC ONE DAY AND SAW SOMETHING ABOUT FLATFLUSHING...I FORGET WHERE. KEEP THE SCALE MOVING!!!IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION THAT IS. I WILL SEND A BOUT OF THE TROTS TO YOU ASAP!!!

I AM ALREADY DRESSED AND HAIR DRIED FOR A TRIP TO THE LAUNDRY ROOM. LET US HOPE THERE IS NOT ANOTHER EPISODE OF MONDAY!! LOL
JEN FINMISHED PAINTING THE WINDOWS FOR SPRING. SHE WAS TO BEGIN LAST WEEK AND HURT THE EYE. JUST AS WELL WE DON'T PAINT FOR A RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY IN A STATE OWNED BLDG. SO IT'S A SPRING THEME WITH GAZEBO AND FLOWER DECORATIONS. I BEST GET THE DAY BEGUN BEFORE I SIT HERE IN FRONT OF THE PC ALL DAY!!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY AND GET OUT THERE AND HUMP!!! :noped:
  • ps: GOOD MORNING MISS HAPPY!
I DID SEE THE AVATAR YESTERDAY AND JUST WANTED TO CUDDLE UP AND TAKE A NAP MYSELF HAVE A GREAT DAY!
  • Good morning ladies,

Mel's all spiffy looking - ready to hang out in the laundry room and pick up a cutie? or is she just getting ready for the construction boys across the street In any event - get your fun where you can!

Thanks for the Fat Flush offer Carla. I was considering it for a bit but I think I'll stick with WW - especially since I just paid for 3 months up front. don't tell but I do seem to have a problem sticking with things.

Yesterday was too much sugar. I have sinned. Will get back on the wagon today. Don't want to be wiping out the losses so far. I did make some turkey chili last night. Came out good if I say so myself. DH thought it was on the bland side but we are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to spicy. I told him to add some red or cayenne pepper to his bowl.

Not much else going on so I'd better head off to another whirlwind day at work. Take care everyone and happy hump day!
  • Happy--Yes, the nephew did convert to Catholicism. It will make the union whole when they do say their wedding vows. His girlfriend has been wanting this for a long time. I'm happy for them both. There were 3 baptisms that night also. All older adults.

Just in again to tell ya'll that I'll be leaving for Dallas tomorrow. I'm flying this time.

It sure has been windy today. It blew the downstairs door shut. I jumped like I was shot.

Mel--I do have a bit of the white coat bp syndrome but I didn't really have time. They were calling me back to the room by the time I had taken care of new insurance.

I only have a few more hours left and about 300 things to to. I still need to eat lunch and it's 2.30 p.m.

    to have nerves.
  • Morning all,
Must have forgotten to post yesterday. That was naughty, but I am still catching up on things after Easter. Been training a lot and trying to finish the doco so that I can be up to date when I leave on 11th May.

No training today so there will be time to ring the travel agent and get him moving again, time to have a look at accommodation in various places. etc etc etc.

Can't stop to chat right now, I have to go see a man about master data. So I will be back later.
  • CEEJAY YOU TRAVELING FOOL YOU!! HOPE THE DALLAS TIME IS A FUN TIME!!! :CB: I HATE LOUD NOISES....I ALMOST JUMP OUT OF THE CHAIR WHEN THE DOORBELL RINGS!!!

SHAD~ WAVING TO YOU WHILE YOU'RE ON THE RUN!

HAPPY~ STICKING TO THINGS I MYSELF AM A REPEAT OFFENDER OF SUCH THINGS BUT DON'T BREATHE A WORD TO THE OTHERS!

I WOKE TIRED. EYES ARE BEING A BOTHER RIGHT NOW AND THE SKIN IS STILL CLEARING...SO SOMETHING IS GOING RIGHT AT LEAST. I AM GOING TO GO BACK TO LIMITING TIME ON THE COMPUTER SO THAT I CAN DO OTHER THINGS. THE PROBLEM WITH THE PC IS THE LIGHTED SCREEN. JUST CAN'T TAKE IT. SO THERE IS A LIFE OFF THE PC AND I AM GOING TO GO BACK AND FIND IT NOTHING MUCH NEW. VERY DARK, WINDY AND TORRENTIAL RAINS AT TIMES. GOOD DAY FOR OLD MOVIES OR MAYBE GOSFORD PARK.
    HAPPY THURSDAY
