Good morning ladies.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. It seemed long to me. I know the night lasted forever. I had horrible dreams and can remember every detail of the entire night.

We won some money at the track. Not enough, but we played on their money most of the day. It was fun. Then my DD went out yesterday and I gave her a horse to bet and it won so I got back $40.00. So I have 2 tickets to cash next Sat when we go out again with DH's work. At least we will start on their money.

There is only 3 weeks until Then you know what is right behind that Last week was horrible as far as eating goes. I have been thinking about it alot and I really want to get back on track before and not gain thru the holidays. I know time will be tight and it will be hard to get to the gym as much as I would like, so I need to get started right now. Anyone want to join me on the wagon? I need some company and we can be responsible to each other. I didn't make it to the gym as all last week, so I will be hitting it hard this week. I haven't been back to WW for a month so back this Sat for sure.

I'm a little blue today. Guess I have some things on my mind. Bad eating is one of them. So I am off to change that.

Toni, glad to see you got some heat in your computer room. We were missing you. Come on, get back on the Let's do it together this week.

Tech, Happy Belated Birthday. SOrry I missed it. Glad you had a great day, but raking leaves wouldn't be on my list. I'm so glad we don't have trees anymore to rake. With that handy dandy food processor, no more reasons to cheat. You can whip up all kinds of legal things.

Memreez, Hope that water wt is gone today. Everyone is right, just keep drinking lots of water to flush it out.

Monet, thanks for starting the boards. Laying in bed playing with your GS sounds magnificant. I am so jealous. Thanks for your offer.

Missy, come on, let's make a pack and make the next 3 weeks good ones. Maybe you will have more energy to chase Alexis around.

Got to get busy. Have a great day.

Good morning! It is not too bad for me. MMM has me back down to my ticker weight! It has taken forever, but I am so glad to see it again. Now, if it will just keep on going down! I know what helps...that is to eat a very light supper and eat early. It is so hard to do in this family. Last night, we ate dinner at 5:15, then went to church at 6, and all I had when we got home at 8 was a can of diet root beer with some nsa vanilla ice cream. I would have skipped that, but I forgot to take my evening meds, and they have to be taken with food....

I plan to get a walk in today. I have not gotten in much walking the last week, which is not good, but then the scale is down, and my knee feels loads better, so I don't know what to think.

SOLLY: I am up for the wagon challenge. I want to see some progress before Christmas. I am mega frustrated with being at a standstill....

Shall we call it the "Great SB Holiday Challenge"?? It would be great if some of our MIAs would check in and join us...GATOR, BOB, TALITHA, COUNTRY, GINCON, FILLISE, THUNDERWOMAN, PANCHO, KENGJW .....

Howdy ho. What great posts gals. I'm up with you on the holiday challenge. I'm back up on that wagon. I did lose this week a 1 1/2 to get back to my ticker weight too. I've got my water trying to get it in and had my oats for breakfast. Also walked on my TM yesterday and today. So I'm happy for a good start.

Solly- I'm with you on a new start this week. We can do this....

Monet- I'm up for the Holiday challenge.

I have a quick second to post! I did not weigh this morning. I ate Chinese this weekend and just feel bloated, so I thought I would postpone and try to do some water-drinking damage control.

Just a reminder to get out and vote tomorrow. I don't care who you vote for just get out and do it!

BOB'S HOME~!!!

My BIG OLD ARSE is dragging...I think it's still back in GEORGIA~~~

FIRST THINGS FIRST~~~~
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY KRIS!!!!

Now, I'm getting ready to send a couple of pictures to MONET so she can post them...I'll have more later.

The trip to Cathy's was wonderful. We had a great time..Loved snuggling with MASON...Jay is a feeling a little left out, so he was the first one I ran to when we got there. I didn't want to let him go...we went up to his room and played with THOMAS THE TRAIN and he reminded me that I had gotten it for him so playing with me was special....
We were there Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then headed on down to Travelers Rest (south carolina) and stopped first at my cousins. We knew in advance that KATE couldn't climb Scotties steps to the second floor, so we planned to spend the night at THE SLEEP INN (5 min from their house). The next day I was going to take KATE to her BROTHER'S where she would stay.
WELL....My Uncle had to have a STENT put in his carotid artery and was in the hospital until TUESDAY....SO.....we decided to wait on her going over there until he was home and settled...WELL....my Uncles SON and DAUGHTER
decided between them that KATE COULD NOT STAY OVER THERE!!! Her feelings were hurt, but off we went...back to the SLEEP INN...where we continued to stay until SUNDAY (yesterday)...SO...I spent over $600 to sleep and 24 hrs a day with KATE!! This was supposed to be our time apart for some much needed R&R...and MENTAL REST PERIOD!!! We would go over to SCOTTIE's during the day and leave for the hotel at night...needless to say, I haven't really rested at all, spent the total of two nights on the road going and coming and here we are. We're both....make that all three of us...TIPPY was a trouper...a good little traveler...and really got to love riding the elevator at the hotel...of course everywhere we went, people wanted to hold her...she is absolutely WORN OUT!!! Kate is in her recliner watching a football game...I've got the TRAVEL CHANNEL on watching ANTHONY BOURDAIN...I'll be climbing up in the bed before too long and won't have to be rocked to sleep....

I'll fill y'all in on the rest of the trip tomorrow....GLAD TO BE HOME!!!! I MISSED ALL OF YOU!!!

Hey everyone!

Just a quickie - I'm going to bed. I'm up for the challenge Solly - but I blew it for today - didn't know there was a challenge until tonight. So, tomorrow is a brand new day!

BOB: Why didn't they want Kate at the house? DId they have a reason - I just think that was kind of ugly of them and my feelings would have been hurt too! Glad you are back and had a safe trip! Did you get to watch the game? It was a close one!

I just got in from Spaghetti Night TM. It was a small crowd, but nice. I ate some Italian bread with peanut butter on it, so I was not entirely legal, but not too bad.

I am exhausted, but BOB sent me three pictures to post for her, so here I am.

BOB: What the heck was up with your family? Why wouldn't Kate be allowed to stay with the family? Sheesh! They sound like they're related to my sister. Gorgeous pictures of Mason. And you are so good to make sure Jay gets some BOB time. Cute that he acknowledges that you are the one that gave him the Thomas stuff and that makes it more special to be playing with them with you. What a patootie

Missy:

MOnet: I'm not entirely sure when they say medication should be taken with meds, they're talking about rootbeer floats...but any excuse to put down a treat like that works for me!

Solly: I think you're missing some endorphines..that's why you're blue. You usually are exercising and you've been slacking lately, and that effects your state of mind, as well as your body. Your day at the track sounds like fun, at least, even if you didn't win tons.

Toni: Keep drinking that water!!

Okay...I'm up for the challenge..but I'm not putting a number on the challenge for myself, but a goal to stay ON PLAN for the duration. Starting today. All the Snickers are gone from the kids Halloween bags anyway...so that's a good thing.

I finished the raking and bringing the leaves to the curb to be sucked down by the village workers with the giant vacuum. Kyle will be bent...he loves his leaf pile. I have a picture, and will post it sometime today...

We're having new carpet delivered Thursday for our dining room and living room...so we have to pack up everything in both rooms so they can lay it down. What a pain. But it will be great once it's down. Derek had me out to Flanigans (furniture store) to look for new furniture, to boot. He wants to get new for our living room and put what we have, including the carpet in the living room, in our basement to make a 'pad' for the kids down there. I'm truly looking forward to the carpet, myself. The one we have has been stained and dumped on by the kids AND the dog and no matter how much cleaning I do, it still looks messy. So, I need to get Kyle up and out the door to school so I can get busy clearing things out...the fish tank is the part I'm NOT looking forward to.

Okay...off to get the morning going.

OH!! Did I tell you I got the 3 mile Walk Away the Pounds - Super Fat Burning video? Its pretty awesome!! I told Shelley has has to do it with me every day. She dropped the volleyball team. I was really disappointed in her, but then she told me they worked them so hard that two girls fainted. I kinda felt like maybe they were trying to weed-out the whimps, which makes me mad because it's only Modified Volleyball, not the NFL. They should at least let the girls gravitate to a harder work out. Shelley had two doses of Advil to get rid of the aches and pains. But I still would have liked Shelley to give it a couple more practices before throwing in the towel after just one practice. Oh, well... At least she still has band and choir for an activity to keep her busy. I think I'll also start teaching her guitar.

Okay...off to the coffee pot...

Good morning ladies. I hope everyone gets out and votes today. I went on my way to work. I'm just glad it's over so we don't have to listen to all mud slinging and poliltical commercials. May your candidate win.

Hopefully, Fillise can get back on here now that the elections are over.

Bob, glad to see you back. Glad you had a safe trip. What a mean family. I don't think Kate would have been any trouble to them. People are funny. The baby is adorable. He is holding his head up good. Jay is a cutie too. How nice you have a bond with him. The older siblings seem to have to take the back seat.

Tech, you have set a good goal, b/c staying on plan will result in a loss. I'm sorry Shelley quite the VB team, I too think she should have given it a couple more tries, but I guess you are right, they are weeding out the ones that don't want to stick to it. That is a great tape. it will be fun doing it with her too. I think you are right with the endorphin thing.

Toni, congrats on the loss. That is great. Good job getting back on the too.

Monet, Congrats on being back to your ticker wt. I wish I was. I was a little dissapointed this morning. My scale had gotten changed and when I changed it back i put it -2 instead of +2 so yesterday's wt was incorrect. But I was down to it again this morning.

Thin, I've voted.

Missy, OK, I'll give you a pass on yesterday, but you have to promise to start today. 3 weeks on plan.

We did an hour at the gym. 30 minutes wts and 30 minutes cardio. I felt better about it. Will get there tonight too.

Off to do some work. Talk to you later.

Solly: Glad you're back in the saddle!! Are the endorphines kicking in yet?

I have a small dilemma I'd love your input on...I'm going to copy/paste my post on the General Discussion forum and let me know what you think...

Quote:
Okay...so my daughter has had this girlfriend since first grade. The girl has had this hold on my daughter since then, where I only have ever felt that she calls my daughter to play when her other friends are busy. When they go places with school, Suzy never hangs out with Shelley and Shelley ends up hanging out with me, waiting till Suzy gives her time. At school, Suzy has her own table in lunch that she has reserved for her 'real friends' and Shelley has had times where she's ended up sitting all by herself, near tears, because the Suzy's 'real friends' tell Shelley there's no room for her at that table.

So, now Shelley has a new best friend, Tori. Tori is a year younger than Shelley, but lives around the corner from us. In the elementary world, the grades rarely intermix because they just don't...but now they ride the bus to the middle school together and were in summer marching band together and have become fast friends. I've known the family on an aquaintence level, for about 6 years and they seem like a really nice family. Four kids, stay-at-home mom, dad has his own business, camper in the front yard...a really normal American family. So, I was happy when Shelley latched on to Tori because I was really glad to have her lose her hold on Suzy's time table and all that.

So...a week and a half ago, Shelley asks if she can go to the mall with Tori's family and told me that she and Tori will probably be off on their own shopping and I thought...they're preteens...and the parents are there and they both have cell phones...that's okay. So, they went and all was well and Shelley had a GREAT time with the $20 I gave her. Then, this weekend, Shelley's on the phone with Tori and Shelley asks if I could take them to the mall...but Shelley tells me in confidence that Tori wants to meet a boy she likes at the mall and that the boy is going to bring a friend along and that Tori wants to all go to the movies...two boys and two girls...all preteens. I said NO! and Shelley seemed relieved, as if Tori had been putting some pressure on her and the excuse that her mom said no took her off the hook. I profusely thanked Shelley for being honest with me and encourage her to continue being honest with me.

So...yesterday, Shelley's on the phone with Tori again, asking if they can go to the mall with Tori's family on Thursday after school. I said, "As long as Tori's family is going...who else it going?" And she told me that the boy that Tori likes is going to be meeting them there. And it came out that Tori's family isn't really going...and then to add insult to my intelligence, Shelley tossed in that now the mother of the boy that Tori likes (his name is Storm...I wondered if he had a sister named Gale ) is going with them.

First of all, does she really think I'm that stupid? Second of all, what the heck happened to nice, little Tori? Now she's got me losing trust in her AND Shelley and furthermore, has Shelley glommed onto, yet, another user? I know Tori's mom has told me that she's happy Shelley and Tori have become friends because Tori was hanging around with kids that she was getting in trouble with and she likes me and Shelley and is glad that Tori has become friendly with a new family. But now I'm thinking that I don't trust Tori and worry that she's going to drag Shelley to the dark side.

WHAT DO I DO?!?!?
This was one of the main reasons I wanted Shelley to be in Volleyball...exercise AND something to keep her busy so she'll stay out of trouble.

Thoughts? Comments? I'm at a loss...and a tiny bit scared of the next six years until Shelley goes off to college. I'm thinking now is the time to set rules and boundaries so we all understand one another.

TECH: First off, Tori's wanting to meet a boy in secret does not mean she is a bad kid. It means like any other pre-teen, she is trying to find ways around her parents rules. The best thing here is to set up a good relationship with the mother, encourage the girls if you like, to spend time together if they like each other, but let them know that her mom and you are going to be good at communication, so there is no trying to pull a fast one on you. You want to set boundaries. We did as much as we were able, but clever children will figure out ways around rules, and if they are terribly stubborn, like my youngest is, they will insist on making mistakes just to be contrary. Will mine every admit she screwed up by not listening to us? No, never. Her life is not what she wanted because she did not listen to us, but we can't go back and undo anything. You need to accept that you can not control your kids. You can only hope you have given them good principles to follow, and that you are able to keep the communication open with them. Ruth was always open and communicative...Laura was always secretive. I raised them the same, with the same rules. I think you should call Tori's mom, and invite her over for coffee, or something. Get to know her. Share with her that you want to be able to communicate openly, and perhaps share with her the boy situation and ask if she was aware of it. You don't want to be accusing, or anything, but make a pact to help each other. Going to the movies with a couple boys is not TOO bad...and at least there is four of them, but still, its the sneaking around that would bother me. Just realize that the next six years very well may be the hardest ones yet. Kids will start pulling away trying to grow up and be independent. Everything I have read says they rebel more if you give them NO responsibility to make decisions for themselves. So, find ways to allow Shelley to make her own decisions, and have some 'freedom', and as she ages, increase that until she is able to make good decisions on her own. You may then find you will have no trouble with rebellion at all. This worked fairly well for us, but I did not do as good a job at it as I might have. I bit more thought and perhaps we might have had less trouble. As it was, the trouble we had was relatively minor to what some of my friends have had to put up with. Off my soapbox now...I am sure you will figure out how to handle it best. You are such a caring mom...your kids are lucky to have you!
