Okay...just a quick drop in before I start making sandwiches for Water Safari. DEREK GOT THE JOB!! In fact, he said it was as if he had the job before he even walked in the door. The people at Kinney's had praised him so highly that the interview was more of a formality. And the best part is he's going to get paid 3K more a year AND not have to deal with messy chemicals and dumping tanks and the big, ugly one-hour photo labs...but with nice, tidy computer kiosks...and now he's not a photo lab technician, but a computer technician which adds a new career to his resume!! So, all is wonderful.
I cancelled my interview for this morning. Reason being is that we had discussed the amount of gas I'll go through just to get to Clayton and back every day (it's over 30 miles round trip) and how much money I'll be getting paid and we both (Derek and I) that it wouldn't be worth it in the end...I'll be getting paid about $75 a week and paying about $50 a week on gas. And it would kill every single day while Kyle's at school (not his school...a different elementary school in our district), I wouldn't be able to go grocery shopping or do much of anything during the day and Derek said he'd rather have me at home. The reason I was considering it was for the almighty experience I seem to lack for the jobs I've interviewed for, but I'll cure that by signing up to be a sub at the schools, once I've got Kyle settled in to his school routine. Okay...so that's my update. Off to make my sammies!! |
TECH: :cheer: Congrats to Derek! That is wonderful news! You better get prepared to start writing that novel! I am so happy things are working out well for you all!

Good morning everyone!!!
I just finished BF (2 egg whites, 2 slices bacon, 1 slice raisin spelt toast w/ lite cream cheese). That will fill me up for awhile, and I won't need to snack for a little bit. I have a great big nectarine waiting in the fridge for me when I am ready for a snack. Today is pretty low key for me and Lane; I have to do laundry and clean the bathrooms, etc....I have a funny thing I am going to post in a post after this for anyone who has read any of the fun children's book series...."If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," or "If You Give a Moose a Muffin." It is a true dedication to the moms out there. Tomorrow will be my first day to help out in Britt's computer lab. BUT, I have to take Lane with me since she doesn't start school until next week. I will try to bring enough to keep her busy for the 45 minutes it takes. I will try to get to the gym before that. YOU ALL ARE SO GREAT AND SUPPORTIVE; THANKS FOR ALL THE KIND WORDS!!! I DO MISS YOU ALL WHEN I AM UNABLE TO POST!!! JUST ALWAYS KNOW THAT! Toni: I'll try to send a picture after I get my hair done. I always feel funny sending a mugshot, so maybe I'll send a picture of me and my girls when I have one to send. Does your heart doctor try to discourage you from eating red meat at all, or is your heart condition totally unrelated to that? I try to limit my red meat, and have replaced a lot of it with buffalo and ostrich. Ostrich is so lean and tender, and is great in spaghetti-type recipes. AND, buffalo, to me, taste just like beef, but has less fat than chicken. I still have to limit caffeine, chocolate, pseudephedrine, etc...for my heart valve leak (just causes severe palpitations). Gator: I have heard that phrase many times before and LOVE it. That is the tiniest tip of the iceberg with my family. They are extremely secretive people....not private....secretive! My grandparents died a few years ago never knowing they had two other grandchildren (that are now 14 & 17). My oldest sister had a child out of wedlock (who doesn't anymore?). My youngest sister got married to a Mexican and had his baby, so my mom would have been too embarrassed for anyone to know that her children would do anything like that. Therefore everyone was sworn to secrecy, and if they said anything, they would be disowned! When I was 19 years old, I moved in with a guy that I had planned to marry (he was Jewish). My parents disowned me and wouldn't even let me have contact with my younger sister and my niece (which they were raising and I was very close to). We eventually decided after being together for 4 1/2 years that we shouldn't get married. We had gotten older and wiser and grown apart; I was glad we hadn't gotten married. Same thing happened when my youngest sister got married to the Mexican guy; they disowned her, and wouldn't even let her come back home when she was being abused by him. I've learned so much from them, and not in a good way. I don't judge anyone on their skin color, their religion, or their beliefs. Everyone is the same in God's eyes and that is how he expects us to be. When we die, we will all have perfect wings. I just ordered a book for Lane out of her preschool God's World book order that is called, "Don't Stare at Me." It is a book about never making fun of people because we are all different and all special. Thanks for the recipe; I can't wait to try it. Fruit: So glad that child will be home-schooled and out of your hair. Lane (4 yrs old) is afraid of the thunder, but she is afraid of everything right now. Thanks for the words of encouragement about my family. You can read the post to Gator above. It gets easier everyday. I actually think it may have been a blessing in disguise. I don't want to have to explain their behavior to my children as they grow older. Monet: Sounds like you are definately getting control of this diabetes before it gets a hold of you; give yourself a pat on the back for that. So, please tell me before I have to find out myself.....what about Guinea pigs won't I like?????? Maybe I can talk her into something else. Right now, she wants a GP, rat or ferret. I will not buy a rat or ferret, so that seemed to be the lesser of the evils ;) . Maybe a bunny? She wants something that she can play with anytime of the day. I am concerned about her getting something that Britt could be allergic to. I really want to put it off for another year or so. My choice would be a puppy, but we already have two dogs, and I don't want anymore than that at once. Your time away sounds wonderful. What a Fantastic milstone in your lives. Have fun! Tech: Congrats to Derek on getting the job! Good choice on not following through with your interview. God has a plan. Have fun today! BOB: We were posting the same time yesterday. It sounds like you are busy at work. We bought season tickets this year for the Cardinals; we have a brand new state of the art stadium that just opened this year, so maybe they'll start playing better. I just want to bump into Matt Leinart :o . I just like the excitement of the game. My DH and our neighbor are going tonite to a preseason game with the Denver Broncos. DH will take Britt to a few games this year and a few friends, and I will go to a few. Lane's show is wrapping up, so I am going to go do flashcards with her. She knows all of her capital letters, but is not doing so well with lower case. I am also teaching her what our last name looks like on paper, as well as our address, home phone number and my cell phone number. Have a wonderful OP day!!!! Thanks for letting me ramble. Watch for the post following this which is dedicated to all you moms out there. It will mean so much more if you've read those books I've mentioned above. Nat |
If You Give a Mom a Muffin By: Kathy Fictorie If you give a Mom a muffin, she will want a cup of coffee to go with it. She will pour herself some. The coffee will get spilled by her 3 year old. She will wipe it up. Wiping the floor, she will find some diry socks. She will remember she has to do some laundry. When she puts the laundry in the washer, she will trip over some snow boots and bump into the freezer. Bumping into the freezer will remind her that she has to plan supper for tonight. She will get out a pound of hamburger. She will look for cookbook (101 Things to Make with a Pound of Hamburger). The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail. She will see the phone bill which is due tomorrow. She will look for her checkbook. The checkbook is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two year old. She will smell something funny. She will change the two year old. While she is changing the two year old, the phone will ring (Of course!). Her five year old will answer it and hang up. She remembers she wants to phone a friend to come for coffee on Friday. Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup. She will pour herself some. And chances are, if she has a cup of coffee, her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it. |

My housekeeper helper came today. It sure looks better here and smells so clean. I love it. And to top things off its cool outside and I got to open the windows and turn off the air. THIS IS A GREAT DAY! LOL.... I got my fourth day in for exercise today. I'm hopeing so hard I have a good week end with my eating. Last night I made a stir fry. It wasn't great but editable.
Pancho- I'm supposed to eat lean meat, fish, chicken. I have horrible heredity high cholesterol to go along with all my other stuff. That's why SB is so important to my diet. Its all the stuff I should do. My doctor would love for me to lose weight..... LOL... Tech- Congrads to Derek!!!! I know that must be a weight off of your shoulders. I sure don't blame you for not taking the job. Monet- A nice little get away would be so nice. Guess instead of doing that we'll have to go to Texas to say good bye to our son. Fruit- You really do sound tired. Hope you get some good rest... I was a teacher's aide years ago and the teacher had so much on her. You must be such a good person, you sound so caring. And have such a good sense of humor! Thin- Oh boy a day in the fall like that sounds wonderful. You make me want to go on a picnic.... Gator- I love your recipe. Its better than mine. Well I have to run. DH home for lunch... |
HI all,
Its a beautiful day here!!!! I got out and washed my car, washed and dryed 2 loads of clothes and cleaned up my kitchen and have supper cooked. I'm running out of things to do...lol. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!! |
Well, Dang, Sonya, my house is a mess, and I am supposed to be having a party here on Sunday! Come on over! Bring the girls and they can swim while you help me clean! :s:
|
Finally I get here. It has been a wild and crazy day.
Didn't go to the gym last night, but got in a 3 mile walk. Tonight I won't get there since we have a ballgame so I did 30 minutes of wt training during my lunch hour. It's almost time to go home so I better post repllies. BOB, It is not acceptable that you will not be on here much in Sept. I love your posts so you are going to just find some time at night to pop in. Yes it's the big rival game. I'm not sure I want to go. I know we will get beat and then I have to listen to all those bilergent UL fans boast. I was so looking forward to Peyton vs Eli. Maybe he did it on purpose. Pancho. I am also getting my hair done on Sat and I do a red/blonde highlights. I was thinking about going just all red for winter and giving my hair a break with the highlighting. I go to the oncologist every 4 months. In Jan they will probably move it to 6 months. I take tamoxifen and take that for 5 years but now they are going to switch me in Jan to another drug which is supposed to work better if you divide up the time. Does that make any sense? I'm so sorry about the situation with your parents and sister. But like you have said before, there is nothing more you can do. IT is their loss. (Gator, sure said it best). I have seen that before and there is also one about a wife. They are cute. Toni, you are doing a great job getting in your water. Great job on your exercise.I'm jealous of you having a housekeeper, Our weather has cooled off too and I need to turn off the A/C and open some windows. Missy, glad the kid is no longer your problem. Was this the runner? The girls play in a church league during the summer. I have been reading Nora Roberts books since vacation. I do like Grisham though. You probably make frequent visits to the boys runn just to get a laugh. Who does LSU play? Monet, Gator can give you some advice on stopping when you are full. She seems to have mastered it. I sure wish I could. If it is there, I want to eat it all. I bet the town will be missing you and your cooking while you are gone. Sounds like a wonderful place. Tech, congrats on Derek getting the job. Now you can write your novel. Heart, hang in there and don't pay any attention to the scale. Talitha, hope you are feeling ok. Have a great evening. |
Monet-If I was close to Atlanta Georgia I would be right over. Curtis is there right now in his eightteen wheeler. He delivered a load of medical supplies there a few min ago. He is staying in his truck there overnite. I have to get the garden plowed up so I can plant some mustard greens. I have the energy to burn...lol

Congrats Tech on Derek getting the job. The Lord sure is good!!!!

Hey!
Here we go with the latest DRAMA of my life! OK – the kid that we THOUGHT was going to be homeschooled will be back tomorrow but he won’t be in my class! Thank goodness! They are putting him in a class that is self contained (the teacher’s don’t block) and that way he’ll be with one teacher all day and not have to swap classes like we do. This is what happened today – the kids mom (let’s call her Sue) called our Elementary Supervisor – yes at the school board office – and told her that I told Sue that I was not trained to teach children like her son! She told her that she had it on tape – which is all a TOTAL LIE! So, the supervisor came to our school to have a conference about me – can you believe that?!?!?! When she was taping our conference last week I was SO careful about what I said. My partner teacher and my student teacher reassured me that I said nothing wrong. Well, she said that she was going to give a copy of the tape to her to listen to – I wish she would because all it would do would make her look like the a$$hole that she is and a complete liar! Then the supervisor told my principal that we had an insider that was feeding that BI$%H information about my class – you know who it was – the fricken janitor!! I’m so pissed! The janitor came up to me when she saw that he was in my class and she told me that the mama (Sue) was crazy and that last year when he was in Kindergarten the mama wanted her to spy on him during the day and let her know how he was doing. Well, now that I know she was spying on me – everything now makes since. She was coming up to me each day and asking questions about how his day went, if he was bad, etc. etc. Evidently after she pumped me for my thoughts she reported it all to Sue. They will be coming to school tomorrow for a conference with the principal and my principal is supposed to ask for the tape so we can hear what I supposedly said! She won’t do it because she knows that she’s lying. I ought to scare her and tell her that I need a copy of the tape for my lawyer – since she is slandering my good name! Needless to say – I’m in no trouble at all because my bosses think she is a nut! OK – enough about that! MONET: I’ve been trying to stop eating when I’m full too – but sometimes it’s hard when you have a really good meal! TECH: WHOOP! WHOOP! I’m doing the happy dance over here for Derek! I’m glad you decided not to do the other job since it would be so costly with the gas and all! This way you can be there for your kids and do your wifely “duties” at your own pace!! PANCHO: Enjoy your time at school – I know Britt will feel special having her mommy there to help! HEART: Glad to hear you are OK – get back on here more often!! TONI: I don’t know how caring I am right now with all of this crap going on!! UGH! I just can imagine myself teaching for another 20 years! After the day I had today, being put under a microscope – I feel like quitting. But, if I do that – SHE wins and I refuse to let that happen! THUNDER: Wasn’t this morning’s weather so nice?! My hair didn’t get frizzy while I was on duty!! SOLLY: No – this boy isn’t the runner – unfortunately we still have to deal with him! This weekend LSU plays ULL (Univ. of Louisiana at Lafayette) We will be getting the game on pay per view I’m sure! I think that’s what Terry has planned!! Well, I’m off to bed. I’ll see you ladies tomorrow! Much love Missy |
Solly--Here's hoping that UK can pull off a win. Go SEC!!
The trick to being able to discern "satisfied" from "full" is not easy. The main thing it requires is a desire to really stop when satisfied. You you don't want it badly enough, then it is really impossible. I totally understand the difficulty when the food is really yummy. Much harder then. I struggle some days more than others. I try to put my fork down and eat much slower, and then ask myself if I am "satisfied" yet. I try to leave something on my plate at each meal, but am not successful all the time. Maybe half the time I can do it. But as I practice eating slower and stopping eating earlier--before finishing my plate, I am learning more about what "satisfied" feels like. I want to see how little or how much it takes for me to reach the "satisfied" feeling. I am not worrying about calories, or if I am eating enough of them or if I am getting enough protein, fat, carbs, etc. I don't notice thin people (the ones who don't have eating problems) worrying about if they have eating enough calories. They just eat and stop when they've had enough. So that's what it is like. The main difference between them and me is that I don't eat any "recreational sugar." Hope this helps. |
MORNING LADIES!!!
I've not been up ALL night, but pretty dang close to it! I think I slept more than I realize, but at 5:45 a.m. I just said.....GET UP!!! Made some coffee and I'm trying to settle down this half-arsed headache I've got. LET ME CLARIFY MY STATEMENT!!!!! It's not that I won't be here at all, but there might be a few days that I will be MIA. KRIS....CONGRATS TO YOU AND DEREK!!!! I'm so happy for you, and I know you feel better...Good choice on not doing the other job too...that's just crazy to drive all that way and back to make about $10!!!!!! GATOR...I don't think that any of us are playing an SEC TEAM Saturday so hopefully, we will ALL BE WINNERS!!!! I'M NOT IGNORING ANYONE, BUT I HAVE TO GET READY TO LEAVE...I'LL CATCH UP WITH EVERYONE THIS AFTERNOON!!!!! I can SMELL those three days off and I'm loving it!!!! EVERYONE have a WONDERFUL DAY!!!! BOB |
Morning! I haven't decided whether or not to walk this morning. Ruth is coming over and we are getting ready for Erik's birthday on Sunday. I may try and get her to walk with me. I am over my calorie burn goal, so I am not too worried about it....
I slept really well last night. I think it was a combination of the workout just before bed, and the sleepytime tea. I feel like I could crawl in bed for a while, which I may do. The next few days are INSANE, and I don't want to get run down before our vacation. BOB: Have you tried the sleepytime tea yet? It helps. Also, getting some exercise would help too. You could go for a walk in the evening after it cools down some. I will be back later... |
