I've got sooo much to do this morning. My house is a wreck b/c I've been working so hard, and I have someone coming for lunch. I don't know if I told you guys. I met Sara in homeschool choir when I was 9. We moved from VA to CA 2 years later, but Sara and I hav ekept in touch. Amazing for me, since I've never kept up with anyone else in my whole life. She was my only friend bridesmaid (the rest were sisters). I've only seen her once sinve my wedding 4 1/2 years ago. Anyway, she is moving from VA to TX and driving though today fro lunch. I want her to see my wholehouse, but I am so tempted to stuff all of the mess in my room and keep it off limits. Any why am I sitting here wasting time? I'm so addicted to you guys ;)

Oh, I got on the scale this AM. Totally forgot on Monday b/c I was so focused on Jake. I was at 189 FINALLY :)

Monet- 10 it is : ) It's my meat week, so I'll need to get straight home anyway.

Fillisie- I've been making oatmeal every morning for the kids, too. I love it. I'm sticking to my shakes for breakfast. Just pick a friday. I can even go on an off week if I need to. Anything for my Buster Buddy. :carrot:

Solly- Good to hear from you!!! I hope you get to relax some this weekend!

Cindy- Thanks for checking in

Heart- We miss you :p

bob- Stay off yo feet woman!! Jeep us posted, and we'll be praying for ya. ;)

Thin- I vote that you keep both too. That's a big deal coming from me. I am seriously the one pet if any type, but it sounds like they belong together. Muffin sounds just like Radar. Somehow he could sense where things were and hardly ever run into them. He sure could get loud if he got lsot, though! :dizzy:

Good morning! Just checking in before I head down to make some coffee! I slept pretty well considering my shoulder is just aching constantly. I hate developing the arthritis symptoms in another joint. I have had knee, and hip problems from my Lupus before, and I was hoping I was over it. (it has some connection with hormones, and usually is found in young women of child bearing age...I am beyond that though it doesn't seem to be helping. :( )

TALITHA: Your friend is coming to see you, not the house. Don't worry about it. If she has kept up with you all these years, she knows you are the creative messy type, and it will not even notice any messes. Just wash the jelly off the table. That is my thoughts...

techwife 10-27-2005 08:15 AM

Talitha: I've been selective of best friends all my life, too. I have two best friends and they are a girl I grew up next door to (we have a picture of us when I was under a year old and she was holding me on her lap at under two years old) named Sue and the other is my best friend that I met on the first day of Junior High named Jackie. I absolutely LOVE seeing them. You have a great time with your best friend and don't worry about your house. She's not there to see what kind of housekeeper you are and...this is my theory...if she sees your house is messy, then if you get to visit her, she'll be less worried about you coming to her house if her's is a little messy. I hae one other 'good' friend, but she's not quite a 'best' friend and that's my next door neighbor. Her house is in constant disarray, which is what elevates her from just next door neighbor to good friend status because I have a real sense of comfort around her. No matter how messy my house is, it's never going offend Rachel, that's for sure!! :lol3: OH!! And my gosh!! Welcome to the 180's!! What a nice milestone!! :high:

Thin: I'd keep both cats, too! The second kitty will give Muffin a sense of comfort and I anticipate them both sleeping together, etc. I mean, what's the difference after having one cat...you're already scooping poop from the litter box and dumping cat food in a bowl. Might as well be for two!!

Monet: :( I think you guys know how I feel about car problems. Hope all goes well for you. And congrats on the big number of steps!! :carrot: (anything to be able to use the carrot!!) And I can relate to the pay docking....Derek got docked a day or two for when we went to California. He was pretty sure he had the personal days to cover it, along with bereavement days. He's going to check into it...but it may (or may not :s: ) cut into my shopping day today. Not nice...No sympathy card from the company or comforting words, just, 'Hey! We see your mom died...let's cut your pay!!' Companies can be so cold. AND, I'm glad you had a nice 'show off' in your class today! Imagine the mother going to the office and signing up her kid because, "I really liked that art teacher!!" ;)

BOB: If I were closer, I have some great books I'd let you borrow. Hope you find some things to do while being housebound once again! In the meantime, :grouphug:

Laurie!: SOOOO nice to hear from you!! It sounds as though the job is going well? I know how you feel about the computer trashing your enthusiasm of getting on it at home. My last job I had I had to be on the phone with a headset taking people's computer problems and logging them into a program to be handled by higher level computer geeks. I hated askign permission to pee! Anyway, I was on the phone so much and talking, talking, talking. Ask anyone that knows me in person and I can talk and talk till the cows come home!! But with that job, I would cringe when the the phone rang at home, like, gawd...the last thing I wanted to do it TALK to people!! But it was a great job for me and I loved it!! Imagine getting paid to talk on the phone for a living!!

Cindy: You DO seem to go through some interesting busy phases at work! Here's hoping they lay off a bit and you get to relax a bit!!

Solly: Nice to see you're hangin' in there!!

Fillise: I make that SAME oatmeal...splenda, milk, blueberries and I toss in a handful of walnuts, too! I call it my 'deluxe' oatmeal.

Okay...how is everyone that has kids doing with getting costumes together? I'm going okay...I got Shelley a purpleish/pinkish taffeta dress at the goodwill shop yesteday. She wants to be a dead princess. Now I have to alter it a bit and buy her a tiara. Kyle is going as Darth Vader and has had the voice changing helmet since spring and the 'real' light saber. I just have to make him a black cape to go over his black sweats. Tonight we have a fundraiser dinner for preschool. You know...the frustrating thing is that it's a fundraiser and I wrote them a check on the 3rd for our October tuition and they still have yet to cash the darn thing!!

Well, off to get in the shower so I can go shopping!! I have to buy Kyle a winter coat. Shelley has two...one from the last two winters that still fits her, but she says, "It's old..." It's also a down-filled Columbia and if it fits, she's wearin' it, I told her. She also has one that I used to wear that is really, really pretty and it's too small for me and just right on her, but since it was mine, she's afraid it won't be stylish enough  But Kyle, ont he other hand, has had the same for two seasons and at his age, he's plain grown out of it!!

Talk to you guys later!

One more update on my new "kids". Last night we had them in our bathroom as I said. Well, Muffin used the litter pan before his sister, :carrot: just knew by instinct what to do. Then at 4am when dh got up for work he was batting a ball around while sister was still sleeping :lol3: It just cracks me up that he seems to be more mature and curious than she is! dh says he needs a more manly name than muffin  ! Sean and I were discussing it this morning and we thought of Chewie, he's orange, maybe a miniature chewbacca plus right now he likes to chew on everything. Then Sean suggested Jones because he likes to explore like Indiana Jones. I may try to come up with some kind of cute set of names for the two of them, but still manly of course of him! :p

Halloween Hangman!

Ellen 10-27-2005 10:34 AM

THIN: How about Java and Bean? Ray and Charlotte ;) Or if you are trekkies, Geordie (remember him? The blind guy) and Diana (Counselor Troy). We are rather fond of bland names around here...our original orange kitty is named Tiger, the mother cat we named Mamacat, and her kitten who died had no tail and was named Bobcat! Our kids were more creative. The younger orange tabby is named Snidely Whiplash. The girls are all named after goddesses - Isis, Bastet, and Bendis. The kids also like Manga, so my son's two male cats that live with my married daughter are named Ketabi and Kabuki. Her cats are all weird names too. Unagi, Ahi, Uni, Sepia, and then the sauce named Bernaise and Roberd! I think the Japanese names are all Sushi fish. ( What can I say? My son in law is a chef! :lol3: )

ThinWithin225 10-27-2005 11:03 AM

I will run all of these great ideas by my family tonight and we'll see what we come up with! ;) I also am going to try to post a picture, I've never tried that before. :)

ThinWithin225 10-27-2005 11:05 AM

Cat-we were posting at the same time! :welcome2: You may enjoy reading back a few posts to see my unfolding kitty saga!

somewhat of a newbie to SB

good morning all. I was on SB 2 years ago and a member of this board when Debelli was a mod. I see there are a few names that I recognize from before.

anyway I eventually lost 10 lbs back then, but not even close to goal weight, and kinda fell of the SB wagon. I have tried off and on for the next 2 years but to no avail. Well I joined Curves last year and have noticed that I am getting toner but still no weight loss, so I am now going to go on the SB woe again. I know right before Thanksgiving and Christmas but I figure what the heck  if I can make it thru those 2 months than I know I can do it. :D

Start 190
WIW
goal 130

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 10-27-2005 11:50 AM

MORNING ALL YOU BUSTERS!!!

I'm home from the Hospital and my testing. The TECH said everything was normal, but of course, we still need to wait for the OFICIAL READING by the VASCULAR SURGEON. Lucky for me, it's my Surgeon of record (breast bx) and I trust him faithfully! I'll let y'all know the results.
Meanwhile, my DOC is going to start me on FLUID PILLS to get the retention down some. I'm waiting on him to call them in now.

Thanks to all for your GOOD THOUGHTS!! I know I can count on y'all for that and it means so much!

I"ll check back in after I talk to the DOC...

BOB

TECH: I played Halloween Hangman...cute.

THIN: I can't wait to hear the final decision on names!

CATLOVER: :welcome2: Welcome back! There are a number of us oldies still around...and the newbies are all wonderful folks! Glad to have you back. Jump right in! :)

BOB: I am glad it is looking like its nothing serious! I get fluid retention some...and I am never sure what triggers it. Right now, I have some and I think its just plain the change of weather! :carrot: The dancing carrot is just because....

Like Tech, I am procrastinating! I made quiches for the guys for breakfasts, and forgot them in the oven. They are a bit overdone... I need to make some apple pies now. There are some things going on with some friends of ours that is making it hard to concentrate though. :( I need to go get busy!

catlover 10-27-2005 01:41 PM

Thanks for the welcome.

Thin - here's an article about blindness in cats. I am sure if you do a google search using "blindness in cats" as a search you will find many articles.

What a visit. Isn't it amazing how you can see someone and pick right back up as if it was yesterday? Last time I saw Sara I was barely pregnant with Selah. Had just found out, actually, so about 3 1/2 years?

For lunch I made my famous Garbanz soup. People rave so much about that. It's almost embarasing. All it is is garbonzos with 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 T Cummin and 1T Chilli powder. I think it's the Sour cream and Cilantro as a garnish that really does it.
Also made a salad w/ field greens, mandarin oranges, purple onion, strawberrys, almonds and goat cheese. I bought a rotisserie chick to cut up on top and served it with Balsamic vinegar. If I wasn't so full I would go eat lunch again. It was wonderful!
