Default Challenges!!!

It's Challenge time!

1. First, its awful that there were only four posts on the exercise board last week! MOVE! POST! I am guilty in a big way here, so this week, I am going to set my goal of just three, but strive for four. How about you??

2. Its a holiday next Monday, so lots of Memorial Day parties, as well as graduation parties, etc. are going to be happening. What are your plans? Plan and post your game plan for staying on program over the holiday weekend. ( you know they say failing to plan is planning to fail!)

Smile Good Monday Morning!

Morning all!

It's a beautiful, warm day here, although we are supposed to have storms by the end of the day. It's a good morning for a walk . .

I had a good, restful weekend--exactly what I needed. Now I'm ready to get back to work with a vengence.

Monet--Good challenges. I've been invited to a friend's lake house for at least part of the weekend (I have to work on Monday). I will take 100% WW buns for the inevitable cookout and snacks I can enjoy (fresh fruit, veggies, SF snacking items I can enjoy noshing on).

I hope everyone has a good OP day and week!

Good morning...

Another sunny day here and I did have a good night sleep. I finally planted some daylilies in yesterday and was so happy when I discovered that I get a good bargain for the amount I paid for each pot. In each pot, I have about 10 plants or more...wow...I was so happy because I do not have to buy as much as I think I do for the yard. I need to go back to get more.

Today is dh's off day as well so I might not get here much. In half an hour, we will drop off my van to replace the brakes and then we will be off to Ethan Ellen to meet with the designer there. They offer a complimentary designer service if we "intend" to buy furniture from there. I saw the Armoire and dining table I like but will not get them at the same time. Today's meeting does not tie us to buying anything...just get some feedback on the Armoire placement. Dh was worried that she was going to force the entire Ethan Ellen store on me....sheesh! If I know he is so afraid, I would not have talk to the designer at all. She made it very clear that we can do only one piece and it doesn't matter and so did we. Gosh...I hate it when dh starts to be overly cautious and critical, it really damp my spirit. I know myself well enough to know that I am not the type of person that would buy anything or spend insanely just because someone asks me to. I know what we need and that's all I am getting plus...I needed some opinion/help and the service is freee!!!!! I am sorry for dumping my frustration so early in the morning, it is just that my dh has this way of damping my spirit sometimes...with his over-criticalness and his over-cautiousness like everyone is out to get him!! Argh!

I better get change and will try to check in later if I can. Otherwise, have a good day everyone!!

Here we are in the last week of school! WOooHooo!

I went to the dance recital this weekend and it wasn WONDERFUL! The girls have improved so much this year! Rachel will be moving up to the next level this summer, si we are excited! Their ballet teacher was new this year and has been with Atlanta Ballet for ten years, so they are really getting a lot from her! They will continue to go to class two days a week right through the summer.

Monet-My family loves onion rings. We would love to get your recipe!

Keng-I have daylilies that are already blooming this year! They are huge! I planted them two years ago and they have really taken off! Can't wait to try your recipes!

Mum- My son is insulin resistant so we use that excuse for not eating sugar. Most people who are overweight are also insulin resistant or pre-diabetic anyway!

Pancho-congratulations on finding the good deals!

Fillise-love the pics!

Tech-yea! You are where I hope to be eventually!

Everyone have a great week! Enjoy this wonderful early summer weather!

Good Morning everyone:

Our garage sale went well; made nearly $400, which surprised me since we live in a rural area, and I didn't think anyone would drive so far. We did sell some big ticket items (concrete mixer, crib, cradle, dresser), but the rest was just little stuff that added up. Britt made nearly $25 on her stuff.

This is my week to get back on track with eating and exercise. It's not always easy to post on the exercise board, but I will do my best. I don't have high speed, so it takes forever to do anything. I may just post it all in one post at the end of the week. I was at 122# this morning, and I'd like to see 120# before our trip the end of June.

As far as Memorial Day...we never do anything too exciting. We will probably just cook out here, and it will be legal.

Mum: Lots of people don't eat dessert; you don't have to explain, just say, "no thanks." We never order dessert when we go out to dinner. I am part of a Mom's Club, and I have been there for over five years now, so everyone saw me gain my preg. weight. We go out one night a month for a Mom's Night Out. I remember the pressure at first, when everyone was ordering their junk dinners and I was ordering a burger without the bun and a salad, or something of that sort, and would get the comments of, "how can you eat a burger without the bun...it's the best part." They would then all order dessert and I would pass. They gave me crap about that too. At the end of the night, they would be so miserable, they could hardly walk, and I felt light and not overfull at all. I was ready to go do something else, and they were ready for bed . I now get calls from those moms asking me how I did it (now that I am 32#'s lighter than I was). When you go out to dinner, you have to make the best choice out of the choices you have. Stay away from the obvious...bread, alcohol, dessert, potatoes, etc...and do the best with the rest. OR, if you rarely go out to dinner (like us), allow that to be a free day and order what you want, in moderation. Some are able to get right back on plan after that while others struggle, so you will have to make that decision. It always helps me to not feel deprived if I give myself an occasional free meal or day. You'll do fine!

Ken: Hope Jess feels better soon. How fun...a furniture designer. Your DH sounds just like mine. My DH analyzes things to death; and it makes me crazy. He is so non-trusting and has no reason to be that way. I tend to be a little too trusting, and maybe shouldn't be....but that's who I am. Have fun!

Toni: Sorry you had a bad eating day. It happens to the best of us. Just jump back on and hold on for the long ride.

Monet: Glad you got your pool back to normal. My DH wants a pool, but I feel like they are just too much of a hassle. Good challenges; I'll do my best to meet them.

Fillise: Glad you got some much needed rest!

Thin: Glad the recital went so well!!

Well, I gotta go wash my face and get dressed. Have a great OP day!

Nat

GOOD MONDAY AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTIN BEAUTY BUDDYS!!!

Went this morning for another injection on my neck area and let's hope I get better relief than the first one! It last one week and then POOF....it was back to the unbearable pain. SO....keep those fingers and toes crossed for BOB!!

The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and everything went off without a hitch! I did my coordinating job just fine and got everyone up to the alter and back after the ceremony. The Brides Father and I got the banquet room decorated and set up for the dinner. The food wasn't too good, but at least we could eat it! The BRIE was DEVINE!!! OH....MY....GAWD!!! I had two big pieces of that! I did have a few drinks, but nothing to be worried about...I went to my room afterward and passed out..not from the drink, but from being dog arsed tired. Came home though at some point, and held my breath the whole way home because it was graduation weekend and the cops were out in force! I made it home though and climbed into my bed!
Tom (the DF of the Bride) gave me the tip money for the DJ, but at my table was a Cop friend and when he asked me what the money was for, he said absolutely not...the guy was getting $500 anyway and he had never heard of tipping the DJ...SO...he told me to take the money and put it in the WISHING WELL for the Kids...they would need it more...I told Deb (Mom) that I was going to do it before I actually put it in there and she said OK....
We're just hoping the Tom didn't ask the guy if he got his tip ....

No plans for me on the holiday weekend...I think I have to work on Monday, so no out of town ventures.

I'm off to recline...The Doc told me that I would have a lot of pressure....AND I DO!!! Did y'all know the human head weighs 12 lbs and presses on the spinal cord?

I'll check in later...

BOB

Howdy all. I'm kind of in a rush so will make this fast. I've had a wonderful morning fixing stuff for the week. I made a waldorf coleslaw I saw on the food net work. Its from George Stella's Low carb and lovin it. Hope its good. I also made a breakfast casserole and froze some in serving sizes. Thank you ladies for the recipes. Last but not least sliced some strawberries in splenda for a treat. I'm glad I'm done with all that but it sure gave me inspiration. Having to go out of town to Wal Mart soon as DH has his lunch.

Pancho- Wow your yard sale sounds great. Wish I'd have been their to buy the cement mixer for DH.

Thin- Sounds as if your Rachael is doing so good with her dance class. Congrads to her for moving up.

Julia- I hope your trip to Ethan Allen turns out well. Sometimes Dh's can sure ruin a day!

Fillise- Don't work to hard this week.....

Monet- My memorial day will probably not be to hard since we'll be staying home. Not ready for my treadmill yet. Just trying to get my eating under control. I will though get going on some exercise.

Have a happy day!

Good afternoon ladies.

Whew! what a weekend. The wedding on Friday, Saturday my DD and SIL moved back in with us until they sell their house so we had to clean her old room (which was a pig sty) then a graduation party that night. Yesterday we left at (:00 for church and got home at 6:30 after errands and another graduation party. Then had to work out in the yard.

SUnday we are having a graduation party for the girls. About 100+ kids will be there at some point. Lots to do this week. I need to get a daily list to work off. Still trying to finish up some things around the house too before I have to start cooking. My mind is racing with all the lists of food and things to do. Just pray we have nice weather and we can be outside.

Bob, I hope your shot works better this time. Take it easy. Glad the wedding was fun. Ours was too.

Monet, Don't think I'll get in much exercise this week with the graduation party this weekend. Too much to do. But back at it hard next Monday. I probably will spend my Memorial day cleaning up from the party and then crashing.

Toni, Sounds like you are very prepared for this week.

Susan, glad you had a restful weekend. Mine was crazy with all the running and this week won't be any better.

Ken, Hope you gots lots of tips on your furniture. I found the tables I was looking for, now just need to figure out how to pay for them.

Thin, glad the recital was good. I loved those things when my girls danced. They necer did point. I really like that.

Nat, Wow, what a great yeard sale. I bet Britt was excited with what she earned.

Got to run, thought of something else I need to order.

Tonight, I used my new pressure cooker, and made beef stew. Oh, my gosh, it was AWESOME! I remember my mother making what we called a BBQ beef stew in her pressure cooker, but I had forgotten what a fabulous job it does of tenderizing tough meat! Total cooking time was 30 minutes, and the meat was falling apart.

I have gone hog wild on the sprouts! I have two large bowls I de-hulled today, and will leave out to get some air and light tomorrow, then put in the fridge. I love putting a big handful on a sandwich. Which reminds me:

Menu:
Breakfast: two ww waffles, bacon, water
Lunch: ham and swiss on ww bread with lots of sprouts
Dinner: Beef stew, salad
Snack: handful of macadamia nuts, ice tea sweetened with agave
two diet cokes with splenda

I am going to climb into bed soon. I am achy and feel good tired. After dinner, I set up my target on the new stand that I got the hardware for today, and shot some. My new purple arrows fly like a dream, and it was a lot of fun tonight. My fingers are sore, because I forgot to look for my glove until they were getting sore from pulling the bowstring. I want to shoot some each day, because on the 4th, when I have the arts team party, the ad min from church is coming and bringing his bow and arrows and we are going to have a contest! I really want to win!

Its time for bed, so I wish you all sweet dreams!

Hey, guys. I've been busy cleaning all day, haven't even had the time for exercise. With the way my eating has been since last Fall(bingeing), I've just about had enough. I've come up with my own therapy which I hope will work. A Food Journal. I've written in it several times today. The main thing is to see when I want to overeat,etc...what triggers it. I hope that I will be eventually able to have off-plan foods without going on a binge. Like eating a slice of cake at a party but getting right back on track with the next meal. Seems simple to most, but it's a personal demon I've been fighting. I've done good with my eating today as far as being legal. I had a little too much at supper, but overall okay. I'll post my exercise tomorrow on the board. Didn't have time to do any today, my house was a wreck and I couldn't stand it being dirty any longer. Boogie has recovered from his shots, although he "milked" it for 2 days later, lol. The white sweet potato-- was pretty good actually. Like 1/2 regular spud with a slight sweet potato taste and texture. Wish I could find them around here. Here's my menu for today:

BF- was an orange and SF yogurt
Lunch- bowl of steamed veggies, a dozen almonds, and sf yogurt
Supper-had 2(should have been only 1)grilled chicken breasts, salad with Ranch dressing, and a delicious sweet potato(butter, cinnamon, and splenda).
Dessert- SF fudge bar

Pancho- I'm sure you will see 120 again soon, before planned.
Tech- great going on the new low. That's my ticker weight, but not what I am right now, unfortunately.

Alright, I gotta go!

Default Good evening.

Howdy ya'll. My eating has not been very good the last couple of days. If you saw me eating you'd have no idea I follow the Sugar Buster way of eating. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day right. I was unable to get to the board over the weekend so I need to go back and get caught up.

I'm at mama's this evening so I need to make this short.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Happy Tuesday,

Thought I would start off everyone Tuesday with a Tuesday Tip. I received this email this morning and thought someone might find something in it to motivate them.

Eleven Great Ways to Get Motivated to Exercise

You know you've got to get moving. You resolve to park the car a few blocks from work, take the stairs, and hit the gym after work. But a few weeks pass and before you know it, parking spots start opening up right in front of the building, the elevator is already in the lobby, and you've worked late every night that week. It's not that you don't know how to get fit, you just can't seem to stay motivated. We all know people who are religious with their workouts. So, what's their secret?
We asked fitness experts and regular Joes alike how they stick with their routine. These methods keep them moving; maybe one will work for you.

1. Embarrass Yourself
Make a mark on your calendar every time you make it to the gym or park. Seeing your motivation (or lack thereof) in black and white helps keep you going. Suzanne Schlosberg and Liz Neporent, authors of Fitness for Dummies, Second Edition (IDG Books Worldwide, Inc., 2000), suggest "whether you write your goals on the side of your shoe or in your training diary, glancing at them on a daily basis will help keep you focused and motivated. Some people tape their goals to their bathroom mirror or refrigerators." Do whatever works to make you remember what you promised yourself.

2. Join a Club That Wouldn't Have You for a Member
So you're not Steffi Graf. That doesn't mean you can't join a tennis team. Richard Cotton, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on Exercise, says "joining a club, team or finding an exercise partner ... provides a support system and someone to simply share the experience with. Often times just knowing someone will be asking you 'How's it going?' can be the difference between exercise success and failure."

3. Love Thy Neighbor and Love Thyself
You can't leave a neighbor standing on the corner checking her watch. She knows where you live. Miriam Nelson, director of the Center for Physical Fitness at Tufts University and the author of Strong Women Stay Young and Strong Women Stay Slim (Bantam Doubleday Dell, 1999), says, "When I make a date with a neighbor to go for a run I keep it, and we have a great time." She also plans a regular appointment with her neighbors. "Saturday mornings several of my neighbors come over and we lift weights together; it's a great way to start the weekend," she says.

4. Challenge Yourself
Working toward an event — like a 5K walk or run, or an overnight bike trip to a faraway bed and breakfast — keeps you on track. Every time you exercise you'll be closer to meeting your goal. "The minute you mail in your entry fee, you'll have a whole new sense of purpose. And the feeling of accomplishment you get from completing your event is like nothing else," say Schlosberg and Neporent.

5. Dance, Dance, Dance
"Music is a fantastic motivator," says Michael Olajide Jr., a former professional boxer and inventor of Aerobox workout routines. "It can push you to do more and to exercise longer, even longer than you planned." Who doesn't get a surge of energy every time they hear their favorite tune? Plus, it's the perfect excuse to get that new CD.

6. Don't Count the Miles
"Do not work out to burn calories or lose weight," says Emme, plus-size model, author and columnist. "There are more important things than burning calories taking place during your workout. Newfound self-esteem and stress reduction are just two positive aspects of many that come to mind." If you're always focusing on burning off your morning doughnut, of course exercise seems like a chore. Try exercising for the sake of your health, not your body.

7. Find the Fun
Forget about the "no pain, no gain" attitude. "The mind, body and soul connection is very important here, don't forget to have fun," says Emme. Pick an activity you've always loved, like biking or walking outdoors. The more enjoyable it is, the more likely you'll stick with it.

8. Make It a Family Affair
"When I go for a run I entice one of my kids to go with me — he or she goes on their bike and I run. It's a great way to be together with my kids," says Miriam Nelson. Who better to egg you on than the ones who love you best!

9. Learn to Love Lycra
"Buying snazzy new workout shorts or comfy new cross-trainers can really get you fired up to work out, " say Schlosberg and Neporent. Once you realize how much better the right equipment makes a workout, you'll be loving your sports bra as much as soccer star Brandi Chastain.

10. Dive for Dollars
Money is the ultimate motivator. Put a dollar in a jar every time you make it to the gym. At the end of a month, treat yourself to a massage. You'll be at the gym more often than the trainers.

11. It's About Time
"My mood motivates me to work out, so timing is everything," says Kathy Kaehler, personal trainer and author. If you aren't up for a workout don't feel guilty about postponing. On the other hand, exercise has been known to improve a bad mood. Work out your aggressions in the gym instead of at home or work.

Also thought some of these were interesting:

Fitness Facts You Should Know

Fitness Fact 1. Studies have suggested that walking at a brisk pace for three or more hours a week can reduce your risk for coronary heart disease by 65 percent.
Fitness Fact 2. About 25 percent of American adults — and an even greater percentage of women — are sedentary. After age 44, upwards of 30 percent of women are sedentary, and by age 65, the proportion increases to almost 35 percent. By the time they reach age 75, about 50 percent of all women are sedentary.

Fitness Fact 3. Only about 22 percent of American adults engage in regular, sustained physical activity for at least 30 minutes five times a week, and only 15 percent exercise both regularly and vigorously.

Fitness Fact 4. No matter how poor your current level of fitness, you can start an exercise routine and become fitter and healthier. Even 90-year-old women who use walkers have been shown in studies to benefit from light weight training.

Fitness Fact 5. Simply adding movement into your daily routine can increase your level of fitness. For example, if you park in the last row of the parking lot and walk briskly five minutes each way between your office and your car, walk up and down the stairs at your office during your 10-minute afternoon coffee break, and walk the dog for 10 minutes when you get home, you've racked up 30 minutes of exercise for the day.

Fitness Fact 6. Women with heart disease or arthritis actually experience improved daily function from involvement in various modes of physical activity.

Fitness Fact 7. Fitness consists of four components: your body's ability to use oxygen as a source of energy, which translates into cardiovascular fitness; muscular strength and endurance; flexibility; and body composition.

Fitness Fact 8. To address all the components of fitness, an exercise program needs to include aerobic exercise, which is continuous repetitive movement of large muscle groups that raises your heart rate; weight lifting or strength training; and flexibility exercises or stretching.

Fitness Fact 9. Walking at a brisk pace (a 15-minute mile or 4 mph) burns almost as many calories as jogging for the same distance. The benefit of jogging is that it takes less time to cover the same distance and it benefits the bones; however, it may be too strenuous for some.

Fitness Fact 10. It takes about 12 weeks after starting an exercise

Good morning...

I woke up a little tired and cranky this morning but slowly shaking them out of my system. I hate being such a grouchy mommy...lol. Besides being grouchy, I was hungry so I made some ww pancakes for breakfast. It was just what I needed...lol.

Nothing much planned for today except going to Lowes to get some more daylilies. They have the cheapest deal so far and I am going to take advantage of it. I am hoping to visit the local library as well but not sure if I will do it today.

Anyway, my menu for today :

Breakfast : 2 1/2 medium pancakes, 1 scrambled egg with cheese and 2 small sausages.

Snack : Not sure if I would have any.

Lunch : Baked salmon with ginger dressing marinated, brown rice pilaf and some sort of veggies.

Snack : Yogurt and fruits.

Dinner : I have no idea yet.

Some replies :

THIN : The kids must looked so cute at the dance recital. I haven't been to one but I have a feeling that it might be an emotional thing for me Yes, daylilies are awesome and my next door neighbor planted some last year and this year they multiplied so much. They are just beautiful!! I am only starting this year and can't wait to see how them grow. Daylilies are everywhere, almost everyone has it and I can understand why

PANCHO : Glad your garage sale went well. It must be such a relief to get rid of things that you don't need and also occupied the space in the house. I am sure dh and I can use a garage sale too It amazes me everytime I think about how opposite most couples are. I know that is a very good reason why it is that way. God obviously knows better than we do. I know it won't be good if dh is like me...lol.

BOB : I am keeping my fingers-crossed for you. No pain...no pain!! Now that the wedding is over, does it mean we will get to spend more time with you?

TONI : Can I come over to your house to eat? Yum...yum...I love prepared meals, don't have to plan last min is definitely good.

JACK-k : 100 kids??? Oh my, you need to go kidnap Monet so you don't have to work as hard...lol. Hope all goes well. What do you plan to make for the party?
Glad you finally found the tables you want

MONET : Beef stew sounds good especially when it was done in 30 mins. It amazes me how someone discovered a technology like a pressure cooker. What is next recipe to try out in the pressure cooker?

HEART : Everyone has different challenges and it is a big deal no matter how small it may seem to other people. I commend you on not giving up on your challenges. I know someday you will concur your challenges.

COUNTRY : Welcome back on track

Okay, got to go...Jess is nagging me to take her outside to play. Gosh...it is hot out there so I am not looking forward to it. Will check in later.
