I can't wait to spend a fortune on lingerie at Victoria's Secret!! I used to LOVE shopping there! Are french cut panties considered semi-granny panties?

Hubby pointed out last night that the Vanilla Silk Wave soy milk we've been buying has cane sugar in it. We're going to look at the plain version to see if it's got less sugar. Does anyone use protein shakes or powder to help get enough protein? Do they help?

I'm kinda upset that the scale doesn't show any changes at home. My clothes don't really seem to be fitting better either....I go to the Dr. on Friday to find out if I do have PCOS - maybe their scale will show a change from last month when she told me to start doing SB.

Quilter - I hope you're feeling better!! I can't believe you're going to try to exercise. You have my respect! I remember in college really missing it when I worked out almost every day. I'm trying to get back to that point.

Star Chaser - Congrats on your walking distance! I started at .5 miles and have worked up to 2 miles in about 30 minutes. We gotta start somewhere, don't we? <grin>

CathyCathy - I weighed 207.5 when I started SB about 3 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I weighed in at the Dr. office and had lost 7 lbs., but my scale at home doesn't. I'm 5' 5" and would like to weigh 150. I was a size 10 and felt good about myself when I was at that weight - I haven't been lower than that since I was 13 - so I'm not going to go for the 135 the weight/height charts recommend. I'm trying to be realistic about this. I'm really hoping this works, too! If it doesn't it won't be because I didn't do my best! -- Maybe setting your options to show only new posts will help with the download time?

Debbie - Thank you! I live in Casselberry and work in Maitland. It's about a 20 minute commute - not too bad. I've been trying to drink about 100 oz of water a day - some days are really good - some days I hardly drink any at all. I'll try to be better at that. I don't think I eat a lot of carbs - legal or otherwise, but I'm going to try to monitor that and see what I'm actually eating. Cypriana's is probably the restaurant you're talking about - It's AWESOME food!! Family owned and very nice. There's another new one on Hwy 434 - Mykonos - they have a spinach stuffed chicken that is to die for! I look forward to having some faces to go with names. I've got a couple of pictures of me as soon as I can figure out how to post them I will. Even better - real live meetings!!

MsLiz - Way to go! Love that quote, too.

FrogLover - You're right. Life's too short to waste our time where we are always stressed or under-appreciated. I changed jobs once because I went home crying every night. Now I'm in a job where, even on a bad day, it's better than a good day at that job!

Barbee - Funny how that happens with weddings. Sorry you're having so much experience with Murphy's Law. I hope everything settles down for you! You're in Port Orange? That's not too far from me and GatorGal.

Big Orange - You're soo funny! I love that picture of you that Debbie posted. Thank you for keeping us from getting too serious!

Thanks for all the help, y'all! Have a great day!!

When it rains....

Hi Guys....
You're all terrific.Have I mentioned that? Thanks for the continued support, and now to add to the heap...

My mom is now in the hospital in Texas. She had been having some breathing/weakness issues and checked herself in for testing. Sigh. I am numb to all of this now. She is much easier to deal with than my Dad (she was widowed two years ago, her DH was incredible, struck down in 2 months by leukemia) and has really gotten a great life for herself in TX. So here I am with two parents sick and far away. Pity party, huh....:(

To top it all off, DH is now trying to guilt me into going to his family for Passover. Please, they were our third invitation AND I simply cannot deal with 5 hours in the car and with them at this time. I cannot believe he is pulling this on me.

Anyway, back to researching assisted living homes (oh, and working...). I did get on the scale this am and now am only up 1, altho I do feel bloated still.....

Hugs to all ((())) and I will be back to full posting soon, I hope and promise!

Good Wed. morning to all. Tried to get on the board last night, but computer crashed and just said "To heck with it." This computer is rather slow (it's 5 years old) and I'm on a telephone line rather than DSL, so it is often clunky. They've just come out with a new operating system for the brand I like. It looks fabulous, so I'll probably get a new 'puter the first of next year. Probably will get DSL then, too.

Let's see if I can remember all the stuff I want to respond to. There have been some pretty funny posts.
BIG Orange--the attachments are very funny. I agree--no enema for me. Just gotta eat that roughage girls!!

Debelli--Have you actually found SGWW matzos? The brisket, roasted lamb, chicken, eggs, horseradish, parsley, cherosis (sp?) (the mortar!), and even the wine are OK. But that Manishevitz (sp?) wine tasted awfully sweet if I remember right! They don't add sugar to it, do they? I love matzoh, esp. with peanut butter, but I've never looked for SGWW matzoh.

Made contact with Sol Shine. She works 5 minutes from my house. Will probably go visit her at her office. I work out about 2 minutes from her office. All you SEC fans out there, she is an MSU fan. SOooo, our numbers increase!

I have been drinking about 100 oz. H2O a day. I have a 25 oz. bottle that I try to fill up and drink 4X a day. Some days I do really well. Others, wel-l-ll, I get preoccupied. I do notice that when I drink more on a regular basis it is easier to stay "thirsty."
Also, finally decided to just walk on the treadmill where I work out. It is a lot easier on my legs and I can adjust the speed to keep it pretty fast. Also, my shoulder is still bothering me. I think it is a chronic condition. A muscle in the back, the scapula levitator, just knots up at various times. Certain movements cause it to knot up. It all started about a year ago when I was walking 4 miles a day. Gradually, the pain increased and became a regular part of my life. :( I find that if I walk on the treadmill, I can prop that arm up on the machine and not swing it and have little problem with that muscle knot.

Debelli, I figured out that you were "walking" 12.77 min. miles. Or, every mile took you about 12 minutes and 46 seconds. Thats amazing. Almost running in my book.

I tried to go back to review the board so I could reply to more posts, but it took me to the first page instead of the last post first. So forget it!!

I'm 2 days late, but here is a motivational thought:
"Our limitations and success will be based, most often, on
your own expectations for ourselves. What the mind dwells
upon, the body acts upon." -- Denis Waitley

I'll try later to get on the board and maybe reply to more posts. Have a great day.

Hey SB gang! Thanks for all the great info!!

Thanks for the homemade peanut butter recipe (can't remember right now who gave it ) but it sounds great and I will try it!

SPARKLE: thanks for all the info on the computer settings. I will definitely give some of that a try and surely it will help! Thanks!

TigerLady: You look like such a sweetie! Look like somebody I would love to sit and have a cup of coffee with! I think that is Awesome that you teach beginner PC classes. I know when my mom finally broke down and got a computer she sure could have used a friendly face to show her a few things. She was overwhelmed by it all but now she is a computer whiz! Her friends call her for help now!

Solshine: So you have lost weight!!!! 7 lbs by the Dr scales! Definitely go by the Dr scales they are always more accurate - honestly if I was weighing in at the Dr office every week then I would throw away my home scales. I get on those stupid things every morning! but I am doing my best to stay off of them for this whole week so that I can be "pleasantly" surprised after my first week on SB! I am only 5' 3 1/2" and the best I can even pray for is to get down to 150, so I think that is a great goal for you - I just think these weight and height charts are not realistic goals for us "normal" people! hehe

Today is my 3rd day on SB and I feel great! I am following the plan to the letter.

I did come across a few things in my book last night that I was not aware of like "More than one slice of whole grain bread a day can inhibit weight loss for some" and "the over-consumption of moderate glycemic carbs, such as whole grain pasta, brown rice, sweet potatoes and whole grain breads, can cause weight loss to stop or slow down."

Also as to fruit juices this was a surprise to me "We believe that fruit juice, even unsweetened, should be avoided for weight reduction or for blood sugar level maintenance" YIKES I'm staying away from the fruit juices then!

Also that "natural whole fruit preserves with no sugar added should be eaten the same way as fresh fruit" - I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!! I thought I could have some All Fruit any time like on Triscuits or wheat bread for a snack. Yikes!

Since you are suppose to eat your fruit 30 minutes before eating - I had an apple in the car on the way to work and now (2 hours later) I am having some oatmeal with splenda on it. I tried the SF syrup with it first and it was ok but I think I really like it better with just the Splenda and a little cinnamon on top.

RodeoMom - I know you go to the dr office today at noon to weigh in - I can't wait for a report!!!!!!! Hope it goes great!!!!

Thanks again for all the great info!

Have a great SF day!

cathy :)

Good Wednesday Morning All!

Just got in from my morning walk. I honestly didn't want to go, got up late again and just wasn't in the mood, but I went my usual 4.5 miles and once I was out there, I was glad I went.

Today is WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY I'm up a 1/2lb from last week, but I'm not fretting. It's def. water weight, I drank more than I put out yesterday for sure, and I know it's NOT from anything I've eaten. I know it's going to get harder for me as I'm getting closer to goal, so patience is definitely needed moreso now that ever! I hope the scales are kinder to the rest of you today. If you'd like to post your WIW results on the WEIGHT LOSS TOTAL BOARD just click on the link below:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...?threadid=3789

SPARKLE, I know what you mean about feeding your niece. Knowing what you know now, it's hard to stand by and not say something. It's like that with my daughter, I guess like me, she'll have to learn these things on her own and the hard way. You just wish others didn't have to go through what you have been through and know from experience, but I guess all of life is a lesson and some people just have to experience these things on their own. Thanks for the nice compliment about our board-I can't imagine with all you do and all you post, how you are able to find time to post on other boards is beyond me-I think you should rename yourself SUPERGAL! Just reading your posts tire me out-you do so much!!!

TIGERLADY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD Glad to have you join us. Sorta glad your BIO went on here, even though I know you are going to move it over to the BIO BOARD, it at least gave everyone the opportunity to meet you face-to-face so to speak. Please, don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have, we're all eager to help out in any way we can!!!

FROG, CONGRATS! 3.5lbs this week is awesome-you'll have to be updating those pictures soon-we won't recognize you! Glad to hear things weren't as bad as you suspected they'd be, and if you resign, it's their loss, I am sure. Someone else will snatch you up! Thanks for the Tuesday Tip, I just bought another pair of sneakers that I have to get use to-hoping they are easier to break in than my others. I like boys shoes, they definitely give me width for my toes to play the piano, but the ones I just bought are women's, so I guess this will be a change to see how well I like them! I do waste a lot of money on sneakers, wish someone would tell me what I really need, and then help me find them in BLACK!!! You sure are right, we do have some interesting discussions on our board-can def. get some interesting polling questions from them!

BIGO, you don't need to add that oil into the PB, trust me-just added fat that's not needed and adds no benefits to the PB. That peanut sauce recipe looks good-may have to try that one day! POOR ELI?????? What about POOR DEBBIE?? I can see where the loyalties lie, the one with the coffee!!!!!! I have to agree with Margaret, you definitely have the best gifs-I should have you find some I need for the board-that, or share your best site with me, pretty please!:^: I loved the gif for the dookie backup-and nurse Ratchett-you are a hoot girl!!!

QUILTER, peanuts disappearing downstairs, I smell a BIG RAT!!!!! We'll ship Eli & Paul to a deserted island if they don't watch themselves!!! Congrats on the 2lbs for the week, you're doing great! Your quote My success on the program is definitely up to me. I must remain focused and give my 100% effort every day is so true!!!!!!

CHERI, it's not easy to find the agave nectar. It's still something many people just don't know about. You can find it on the web, sites are listed on the FOOD INFO. BOARD, I should find out what the shipping costs would be for a case, one place has it at a nice price at the case price. If only we could find FREE SHIPPING from one of the companies that carrie it. The chocolate should be easier to find, def. sites on the web have them, and at good prices if you can't find them locally.

IAMAP, hope things settle down for you soon, before you burn out!

RHROO, hope you got to sleep in late and get in your walk today. It's not hard to post a picture, you can do it right from the site, like you do the little pictures at the bottom-as long as it's small enough. If not, e-mail it to me as an attachment and I'll get it loaded up for you:) I can tell you easily how to do it if you were on AOL, but otherwise, I'm totally stumped!

BARB, I'm sure everything will turn out wonderfully and Lori & Joe will have a beautiful wedding, you'll look like the stunning Mother of the Bride, and all will go well. I'll be with you all in thoughts!! Keep your head above water, all will be just fine!:)

MARGARET, I totally agree with you, BIGO definitely has the best images!! Hope your WI results are good. I can't imagine weighing in anywhere else but home, have to do it in the buff-don't recommend that at school!!

SAS, it does take some getting use to on the new board. When the board gets long, it doesn't let you see the old posts, unless you click at the bottom where it says something to the effect, this post is long, to view it...For the avatar, click on PROFILE, then go to EDIT OPTIONS and at the bottom, you will see AVATAR, click on that and it will show you some options there. Good luck on the Saturday WI!!!! Let us know how you do!

LDBLOND, hey, at least you aren't up, like me!! Don't worry about the scale, those clothes tell the better picture!

SOL, you are best getting your protein naturally, if possible. If not, just look at those shake ingredients really well. I found a soy milk that seemed to be low in sugars, I think it was SOY SILK, but have to look for my info to be sure. Be patient with what the scale says, I've had weeks where I didn't lose a thing, would go up and down like a yo-yo which is very frustrating considering I don't cheat and I do exercise-it happens, just be patient, it's one of the keys to your success. I'm like you with the water, some days I can drink 3 liters, others, not even 3 ounces-it's weird! I only drink water and tea, sometimes a glass of milk, but that doesn't count. I cut out all soda and Crystal Light last June, so really it's basically water. I never heard of that rest., so that will be one to remember-the other one either-the one we saw has a buffet, I think it's called ALI BABA, but not sure. If you can e-mail me your pic as an attachment I can get it up for you, otherwise, like the gifs everyone attaches to their messages, you can try if it's small enough to post it that way.

VIV, sorry to hear about your Mom, another thing on your mind now. Try not to get too stressed over it all, just wait to see what happens and what the Dr.s say-I'm sure everything will be okay. Any news about Dad?? That pound will drop off soon, so don't add that to your worries!!

GATOR, the matzah doesn't say SG, but it is WW, so for the holidays it's fine-I am taking my own matzah up to the Passover dinner-I don't drink wine, so that's not an issue, but I do like sweet wine, love that cheap stuff! I won't waiver from my WOE even for the holidays, not that I care so much about the Passover foods that will be served that aren't SB legal. Thanks for pointing out my timing, I hadn't figured that out-boy, it makes me feel even better seeing that! Hope you an SOL have a nice visit when you meet.

CATHY, glad to hear you are doing well on your 3rd day. Glad to hear you are seeing some interesting points from the book, it's always good to re-read it from time to time. I don't do juices at all because of what it says. Try to get Michael Montigancs book at the library, some interesting info in there as well. Continued success!!!

Well gals, it's time for me to hit the showers, Lauren says I'm a stinking!

Will check in with you all later!!

Toodles!

Hello Ladies:)

Must be quick today as hubby is home ill,:( Poor Baby. He's not a good sick person. But then what man is. I just wanted to pop in to say I lost the 2lbs I've gained so I'm on my way. Woo Hoo. this is a thrill for me.

Quilter: the story about Snuggle bug Is a long one so I'll make it short several months ago she was out on a leash and she had a choke chain on :nono: (never again) then I had to be gone for a short period of time. anyway she wrapped herself around a tree and choked the oxygen off to the brain and had a stroke, she was only about 6 months at the time. we had to reteach her everything how to eat how to stand how to walk she come back full course except still doesn't know alot of the comands we use like down and out that kinda thing. She's a sweet dog and we love her. We have a pen to put her in it's just that day the big dogs next door were in there and there to big for her at that time. now she holds her own. She's never been on a leash sence and never will be. I learned my lesson. Well so much for a short story :o

Cheri : Walking is a very difficult thing for me I was told at the age of 19 that by 21 I would be in a wheel chair, well i'm 52 and no chair yet. I have degenerate arthiritus and a very fast forming one. There is no cartlidge left in my knees so it's just bone rubbing against bone. Man it hurts when I walk. I now have 10 lbs to do before the Doc will agree to do the knee surgery I need. That;s what got me startedon the weight loss in the first point. I had to lose 98lbs to have this surgery.. and i'm so close. :)

Deb: Your right I should have let hubby go on bragging about me. It's just that I was so shocked that I had to speek up.

To all you ladies that pointed out what a great hubby I have, Well what can I say YOUR RIGHT!! he's a sweetie and a real keeper. He is alway doing something that surprises me.

Well I really must get off and take care of him he is ready for some breakfast.

You all have a good Day Love ya Glory

Rosalie 04-04-2001 12:14 PM

Hi everyone :)

No loss again this week, just maintaining as usual.

It's a beautiful sunny day to-day, still rather cool but warming up a little. It's 44F this morning, going up to 54F this afternoon. Went for my first real walk to-day. Walked for about 30 minutes. No idea of distance, I will get to that later. I figured if I can do a walking excercise for 30 minutes I can manage a real walk for the same time.

I've been trying to catch up on the posts. When you don't post for a day there is so much catching up to do. I was busy at work yesterday and didn't even have time to lurk and read the posts while I was there.

Deb - Congrats on the walk you had yesterday. You're breaking all your records I see. I can't tell you what the exchange rate is at this time. If I find out I will let you know. If Eli is coming in May the weather should be fine. We usually get some really warm days in May.

Melf - Yes we get lots of mosquitoes in Canada, also black flies in early spring. The black flies are even worse than the mosquitoes, they are so tiny and they are so hard to avoid. Soon as the weather heats up though they are gone. We try to keep away from the cottage until their season is over! Hope you haven't met anymore snakes lately. If I saw one I would probably run a mile.

Frog - I'm in full agreement with your Monday Motivational piece. I hope you weren't too bruised from your mishap on the deck.

Glory - You must have a wonderful DH and he is so proud of you. Do you have any swimming pools close by? Where I go swimming they have a program for people with arthritis where they do gentle toning exercises in the water. Do you have anything like this available? What about Tai Chi. This is good exercise if you don't want anything too strenuous. Some of the movements can even be done sitting so at least the upper body gets toned.

SolShine - Your menu looks O.K. to me but if you are so hungry after working out in the am maybe you could add some more protein to your breakfast, say a couple of eggs. You might find this more sustaining than just the cereal and soy milk.

Quilter - Hope you are feeling better to-day.

BOB - Hope you are hanging in there with the No Smoking. Where do you find all those great pictures?

Rhroo - That was a great Tuesday tip - something I definitely need to do

Have to stop now, still haven't finished reading all the posts. Have to get a quick lunch and get out to the stores before I head off to work for the evening shift. Hope I can find time to read some more posts while at work.

Congrats to all the losers this week.

Bye

Weigh In Wednesday

Drum roll please. . .

I stepped on the steel-eyed monster this morning and the needle sat exactly on 250 lbs! :D That makes a full 50 lbs since I began this WOE in July. This is a major mile stone and I have been doing the happy dance all day.

I just wanted to share my progress--I'll try to write more later tonight!

hi

So many posts!! I can't possibly reply to all but I just wanted to pop in to say hi.

Now that Pete is home at night, my computer time has vanished! He's busy downloading from Napster and making CDs. Oh well.

Another friend is interested in SB. I gave her lots of info. Too bad she didn't live closer, or we could support each other.

Not only is my house a mess, but so is my classroom so I must go...

BBL
Ashley

PS One quick story...I am going to a professional dinner tonight on guided reading. The meal is PIZZA. I was panicked! I came up with a solution...I'm bringing a WW tortilla with me and I am going to scrape the toppings of the pizza in the tortilla! I'll let you know how it goes :)

StarChaser 04-04-2001 12:38 PM

Hey,

Looks as though everyone is having a great Weigh In Wednesday!!

Gosh you gals are so inspiring with all your great weightlosses! And for you gals that maintained this week - in my book a maintain is soooooooooooooo much better than a gain!!!!!!

Glory - congrats on showing them Docs that you would not give up and sit down in a wheelchair CONGRATS -what determination and willpower! YOU GO GIRL ! I was gonna ask if swimming was something that you could do and enjoy?

I'm putting on my tennis shoes and going for a walk at the mall during my lunchhour! :)

Me again!

Thought I'd get in a quick post before heading out the door for the day/evening. Going to see a preview of Josie and the kittycats. Probably not my kind of movie, but it's free, and Lauren wants to go.

GLORY, CONGRATS on that 2lb loss!!! That's wonderful news! Sorry to hear hubby is ill, men are the biggest babies when they are sick! I think they love to be pampered at times like this, and they milk it for all it's worth.

ROSALIE, glad to hear you maintained rather than be up, but I know you would wish the scale do head downwards. I'm sure you'll have one of those nice drops soon.:) Eli is leaving next Tuesday for Cananda-I'm hoping the weather won't be too bad for him. He really wants me to go, but I don't think that will happen this time - next time-hopefully to your area!!! Sounds like you had a nice walk today, and the weather seems to be warming up too-NICE!

FILLISE, CONGRATS on your wonderful milestone!! I'm happy dancing for you! One more pound and another milestone you'll hit! UNDER 250~~ Gosh, I know how good this must feel for you!

OVERCOME, that's interesting what you are doing with the pizza toppings and the WW tortilla, def. something I will keep in mind!!! Eli loves going to Pizza Hut and I won't go, but maybe with this idea, one day I can enhance my presense in that place with him!!

STAR, a picnic in the middle of the week-boy, I'd like a job there!! Have fun!!!

Well I'm outta here, will check in with you all this evening!!

QUESTION Do you think we should change the chats to TUESDAY NIGHTS???? Seems not much happens on TV on Tuesday nights for most, whereas Thursdays seem to be busier (ie Survivor). Let me know what you all think!!!!

My first week weight in

Hey All!!

Just wanted to let you know I lost 3 pounds my first week. I was a little disappointed, because I really wanted to lose more the first week. But! I did go a little overboard on the whole wheat bread and rice thing. There were days I had oatmeal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and rice with dinner.... Live and Learn! I did not realize that you need to keep the carbs as low as possible.

Also, I have been drinking OJ in the morning!! All the no-no's I find out in the middle of a diet.

So all in all I think 3 pounds is pretty good!! Besides, I keep thinking of a 3 pound bag of onions...that's what I lost.

I did make a homemade Ranch Dressing out of the Sugar Bust For Life book...and it is wonderful. You must give it a try!

Onward and downward...my new motto

Have a great week!

cathycathy 04-04-2001 02:14 PM

RODEOMOM!!!!! 3 lbs is great!!!!! I am so proud of you!!!!

Just imagine how great the loss will be next Wednesday after we cut out all this fruit juice and so many carbs! :)

Onward and Downward! I love it!

We are gonna do this! :) :) :)
