Confused?!?!

  • Greetings, I am a transfer from Atkins. I was on Atkins for 8months and lost an amazing 10 lbs. I'm hoping Sugar Busters will fit into my lifestyle alot better. Anyway, the only SB book I could find in my small town was "SB for Kids". So, I'm having a lot of confusion on the program.
My question is: I'm not sure exactly how to know if I'm doing the program correctly, do I go by GI, carbs or added sugars? Also, if I have a salad for example do I eat Low - fat dressing ( higher carbs) of regular dressing (higher - fat).
If anyone has any menu samples, I would appreciate seeing them.
    THanks!

  • Hi, Lucky144 -- I'm a former Atkid myself! I also had very unspectacular results -- I lost about 13 pounds in one year. I've since gained it all back since stopping the program. Basically, I think this is a much better and healthier program. It's something I feel I can stick to for the long term -- Atkins never felt like that. So, welcome and good luck!
  • Wow that's amazing you stuck with Atkins that long like such a hard way to live!
Anyway, ask your library if they have a program where they borrow books from other libraries. It's real important to read the book.
Ok, SB is more about the Glycemic Index of foods then anything else. The glycemic index ranks foods on how they affect our blood sugar levels after you eat them.
It's about staying away from foods made with white flour, unbleached flours and added sugars.
These are 2 good sites that can give you some more info.
