Ok... this may sound like the funniest question to ask when I am on the "Sugar Busters" diet... but honestly, what kinds of sugar can I eat?
The book says Aspartame, Splenda, and Saccarin are ok.
What about maltodextrin, polydextrose, maltitol, lactitol, ect??? My mom and sister were on the Atkins diet and they eat all kinds of substitute chocolate bars that claim they are sugar free and have only 1g carbs.
For example, Asher's Peanut Butter Truffle Bar has 0g sugar, 19g sugar alcohols, 18g fat, 230 cal. The sugars in ingredients are maltitol, and polydextrose. Will this stimulate my insulin release? By the way... I would not eat this regularly... only on those tough days when I know I'll have to have something with chocolate. Especially because it says on the label that an excessive amount will have a laxative effect!
Looking for INFO!!!!!!
Thanks... Alissa
