Hi everyone. No working today, everyone's playing video games and I'm waiting for the coffee pot to finish. Yesterday I took Kyle to the Easter egg hunt, then worked till 1:30, then went to a movie with Shelley (Spiderwick Chronicles - it wasn't fantastic, but I liked it) then we went to get my nails filled, then roamed the mall a tiny bit before getting KFC for dinner and watch a Sabres game. I was exhausted by bed time.
I'm pretty much not even doing SB anymore and eating like a

. No weight gain - yet. But I feel like poop. Pretty much all I had yesterday was movie popcorn, diet soda and the KFC. No veggies, no fruits just totally greasy, heavy crap. It tastes good going down, but I always know I'm going to pay for it.
Derek had a phone interview with Rite Aid last week. At first they said, "We really need someone in Burlington, VT, Northern NH (which is so rural, they couldn't list a town) and Portland/Bangor Maine. Here's what I found in the choices: Burlinton: So expensive, that houses that are the same dollar amount as the one we live in here look like abandoned crack houses and houses that look like what we have here (100+ years old, 1500 sq ft with three bedrooms with a small fenced in yard) are more like $250k. So, on to Northern NH - if I moved my kids to a MORE rural area than we live in now, they'd kill me. On to Maine. Not bad, I must say. We looked into Augusta because Kyle knows the capitals to all the states and would love to live in one. Problem is that the drastic-ness of moving so far away (at least 8 hours) means that Derek would have to move there alone and I would hardly see him again until late in the summer when I can get out of my lease with the Barber Shop and packing, etc. If we picked Burlington, which is 4 hours away, Derek could at least come home on the weekends, but 8 hours away, by the time he gets home and rests from the drive, he'd have to go back. Not to mention the cost.
So, Derek mentioned to the guy that called him if there was any shot at something in New York state and he sent his resume to someone else that interviewed him over the phone and mentioned something that they may need someone in Utica, NY, which is between Syracuse, Albany and Binghamton. So, we're going with that and hoping that something comes up. He's hoping he'll get the job and they'll see they need someone up here as much as down there, but if we have to, moving to south of Syracuse is much better, for us, than Maine. I'm sure Maine is a great place, but the logistics of us making a move like that with kids going into high school and second grade is just too drastic for us. Keeping it close to home is much more acceptable.
Prayers, fingers and toes crossed that he gets this job...and the pay is decent and it all works out.
The barber shop is holding its own. I'm glad its mid-March and the summer people are starting to filter back into town. I can't believe I'm saying that, but only a business owner here can be happy to see the income of the summer people. I hope we don't have to move so I can keep it going. I'm starting to bond with my customers.
So, once Derek gets back to work and we can get into a more permanent schedule, I'm hoping to eat better. I'm so tempted by ease and cost at this point. It's so much easier to grab a donut than scramble some eggs. When I was home, I had the time. Now, its all about convenience.
Okay...gotta run. I'm going to see if I can keep it healthy today. Simply because if I eat like crap, I feel like crap. If I eat healthy, I feel healthy. I wish I could remember that when making my choices.
