Sorry I posted twice for some reason...

Bob - I'd love the recipe for your cornbread. I love pinto beans and cornbread. You're right the treadmill didn't hurt me. I think its more making the time for it. I'm having a lazy year need to get my butt moving. I've kind of wasted my day. I should have done the laundry but left it for the week. I haven't even started my dreamfields spraggetti yet. Oh well DH just had pork rinds for a snack so he won't want to eat right away. I hope you have a good week this coming one.
CountryMom- I'm glad the brisket came out good. You did good on the rice. That was a really small amount. Having some nice hot green tea so guess I'll go back to that and then get that dinner cooked. Hugs all.... |
Hello everyone! It has been a long day! I don't know what all I did, but it seems like a week ago when I was climbing out of bed! tee hee!
I did work in the garagio some, until I had a hypo episode and had to come up and sit down and have some glucose tablets and juice. Then I felt drained and took a nap. Then I made dinner, and took a shower, then went to church. After church we went out for dinner with a young couple we are friends with. They are very excited. After trying for seven years to have children, the wife just found out she is two months pregnant. We are so delighted for them! I need to crawl in bed soon so I can get up early and finish up some stuff in the garagio. I have a ton of things to do...and a couple orders I need to be working on. ihsabhg: Welcome! Glad to have you join us. Ideas for easy snacks...hmmm...a piece of fruit, a small bag of carrots and celery sticks, triscuits and low fat cheese, lean deli meat wrapped up with a slice of cheese, a carton of Dannon Light and Fit yogurt, a small carton of cottage cheese, small packages of nuts. Does that help? TONI: I am sorry Jackson was under the weather. Sounds like dealing with a dog is as much work as a toddler! COUNTRY: The brisket sounds yummy! I have not grilled in eons. I may have to try a brisket. Its been ages since I fixed one.... BOB: I see BOTH our teams won... And next week I think the Dawgs play Florida. Then they play Tennessee. Argh! |
Just a check in. We've been sanding and painting and painting and sanding and laying laminate flooring and buying and hanging and back and forth to Watertown. We're on schedule to open October 1. I'm SO excited.
But....the hitch came when Derek's former employer called him and said they need him to help them out for two more weeks...In Harrisburg PA! At first we wanted to tell them to stick it. But in the end, it's two more weeks pay that we can really use, so he's going. And...Kinney's is going to hire that awful friend of Derek's, the one that takes most Fridays and Mondays off, takes the day off to take his wife to a doctors appointment and takes the day off to get his oil changed and when he actually gets going, he leaves around noon and then says he only has time for one store visit because its 5pm after he's visited one store. He's taken week's off because his grandfather died at least three times...even for his wifes cousin...days off! He's been bugging Kinney's for a year for a job, so now that they're ready to hire someone, they're going for the guy that has been bugging them, I guess. At least they called him and not Derek. Drives me nuts! Derek has been in the photo business since the 80's, running dark rooms for Fredonia college and he was the crime scene photog for the county Sheriff's office, before that he worked at place called Color Media in Hollywood. His friend was a truck driver until they met in 1995 or so. But since the friend was hired a few months at the company they worked for before Derek, they've always been Batman and Robin and Derek has had a heck of a time shedding his Robin reputation...in spite of always being out of the house every single day by 9am and I can count on one hand the number of times he's called in sick. It just makes me so mad. I don't know what magic spell his friend casts on people. But we just shake our heads. He lives in Syracuse where other jobs are everywhere, he doesn't have kids at home anymore and really wants to move to Alaska to live near his brohter. We, on the ohter hand, are ingrained in this town (especially with my barber shop starting) and the jobs are scarce at best...we have NO health insurance (the kids have state health insurance). A job at Kinney's would solve so much for us. So, Derek will go on unemployment and the friend will take the Kinney's job. We're just shaking our heads. The worst thing is that we REALLY like the friend, as a friend. But as a co worker he was always dumping his leftover stuff onto Derek when the worked together and Derek was always pulling the slack for him. Just makes you so mad. Okay, rant over. Have to go make Shelley's lunch for school. |
Good morning all. Just finished eating 1/2 english muffin with peanut butter. And of course I'm having coffee. In a bit I'll go for the treadmill. Guess I'll do today all the stuff I didn't do over the week end. I even need to go ahead and make spraggetti cause I already have the sausage thawed out. Had marinated salmon last night instead. No plans for the week but we'll see what comes.
Monet- You sure have your plate full. Don't do to much gal. Hope you slept good last night. Tech-Glad Derek got a couple more weeks of work. I know the expense of starting a new business. Can't wait for you to open. |
Hi Ladies,
Sorry I was MIA yesterday, we had a bid that took all day and I didn't have a minute to jump on here. The ball was fun. Lots of doctors and board members, not many regular poor people like me. They served pinktinis and pink champagne. The food was fabulous, sea bass and steak. I thought it was some white fish, It sure was good. The bank was from Atlanta and they was great. We danced all night. All the auction items were a minimum bid of at least $150 & up. So I didn't do any bidding. They had a mink coat at the live auction and several vacation trips. All in all it was fun. Glad I got to go once. I am so behind in posts. Country, wow, was a big brisket. You will have leftovers for a while. I do love brisket though. Monet, sounds like you are getting busyier and busyier with your pottery. That is a good thing. Toni, glad to see you made the big step to get on the :tread: again. You will be glad. Bob, how much weight have you lost. You never seem to share the scale results with us. I am so glad you are doing so well. Thin, you are busier than me. Ihsa, welcome. This is a great group. Just ask away and someone will have an answer. Looking forward to getting to know you. Tech, I am sure once your friend is solo without Derek the owner will see how he performs. Something better will come his way. Hang in there. You are going great guns with your shop. Rosemary, congrats on your 3lbs loss. Oh, my DD got a trainer last night. So I am going to follow her routine and hopefuly get this body in shape somehow. It is amazing how they work you harder than you do yourself. I thought I worked out hard, but was totally shocked at how hard they push you. Got to gt busy. Have a great day. |
Hello everyone! I went to bed late again, slept only so so, though the Melatonin has really helped me to be able to go back to sleep at night. I have been awake for a bit, but not getting much done.
I heard the baby fussing this morning, and went to get him up. They had put him to bed last night in just a diaper, and I am sure you can guess what he did. Got it off and had poo everywhere. I woke them up, and left him! They had to get up and clean it all up. Pee Ew! Serves them right for not putting him in a onesie. You would think they would be more cautious! I am sleepy, so I think I will lay down for a little while. Then I have some errands to run. I finished up two orders last night, and now I have to wait for them to dry so I can fire the kiln. |
Afternoon all. I'm getting a late start. I still have to walk on the treadmill. And can you believe at 2 I've just had breakfast. Boy is my day messed up. But with DH working nights it usually is. Wonder what happened to the two newbies. I can't believe how slow the board is.
Solly- Sounds like you had a "ball" at the ball. It sounds so fun. How lucky you can learn from your daughter what the trainer is teaching her. What inspiration. I hope you do fine. Monet-I think the crumbs are here. LOL. I'm excited but can't get to the post office till tomorrow. DH picked up the slip last night when he got the mail. I'm so excited. Glad your meds are helping you stay asleep. I take sleeping medicine. Isn't it great being a Grandma you can send them back when they're dirty. LOL Okay on my way. Soon as DH has his shower I'm off to walk. |
Good morning ladies.
Got an early meeting so I need to make this quick. We worked chest and back last night so I don't feel worn out or weak today. We ended up walking home for our cardio as DH was ready to leave and we only had one car. I guess we will start taking 2. I guess I will skip tonight, we have an invitation to the grand opening of the new Lexus dealership. Free drinks and hordevoures (sp). With all these new shows starting this week, I am DVRing like crazy. So much to watch finally. I love Dancing with the Stars. The guy from my soap is on there. So many cute bodies! Monet, I didn't sleep well last night either. I have some issues on my mind and I know that is the problem. I have resorted to a lot of sleeping pills in the last week. Boy I'm glad you didn't clean up that mess. A good lesson learned for them. Toni, WTG on getting on the treadmill. Sometimes we just have to make ourselves do it. Got to run, want to vote for DWTS before I head out. Have a great day. |
Oh boy oh boy just got to change my ticker I lost 2 lbs this week. I'm so excited. After not losing for the past couple weeks its like a miracle. LOL... Can you tell I've got a happy face today? Just sitting here having coffee and thinking I need to eat. Don't know what the day will bring.
Solly-Wow you're doing good with the exercise. I envy you. I love DWTS too. But I also have to watch Biggest Loser so I'm having to miss some of it. Everything new is coming on and they're all at the same time. I need something to record it all. Well I'll go for awhile and come back later. |
Back from the gym! I went to Water Aerobics this morning, then out to breakfast with my neighbor. I got the two egg breakfast, and harvest grain pancakes. I did not do too badly!
I have a few errands to run, but I am really tired, so I may take a bit of a nap. |
Well, on the downside, eating has been HORRIBLE. Although the eggsalad on rye yesterday wasn't too bad, everything else has been downright junkfood. I have a full-size kitchen at the shop with a full-size fridge, so once I get started and in a groove, I can stock the fridge with good stuff to eat while I'm at work, but for now, it's total mayhem.
On the upside, the little old men have been circling the future barber shop like vultures!! One man came in yesterday while I was picking up the kids from school and asked my dad, "When's she opening? Is she good?" "Oh, yeah, she's been cutting hair for 25 years!" "Oh, good! What time will she open on Monday?" I'm so excited!! I'm hoping my dad gets my barber pole up today. I think he's kind of dreading it. Derek is still in Pennsylvania. We're meeting him in Rochester on Saturday morning to go to Buffalo together for the Sabres game this weekend :woohoo: !!!! It's a preseason game, but affordable so the whole family can go without taking out a loan! They're playing the Pittsburge Penguins. Shelley's just about foaming at the mouth. She loves Sydney Crosby. Anyhow... Toni: 2 pounds is great! I have a 2 pound change, as well, but I didn't put it on my ticker because it's going the wrong way! Solly: the only show I watch at the moment is Sabres hockey (starting next week!) and Ghost Hunters on SciFi. New show last night. I love ghost stuff...as long as it's not MY house :fr: Monet: I love that poo story. I would have done the same thing. The kids don't know how good they have it, living with Gramma. |
Morning! I head up to North Georgia to work today. I am really excited! I sold a piece yesterday and one overnight! Two in two days has me hopping in excitement. And they were both more pricey ones! :woohoo:
Not much else to report...I am terribly sore from water aerobics yesterday, but it is a good sore. TECH: Have FUN at the game! I can't wait to hear how the opening goes! I think you should have a pot of coffee and some donuts (NO! NOT for you! ) for the old guys to munch on. They are going to LOVE you! By the way, WE do..so don't disappear. Do you hear me? And do you need me to make you some mugs, shaving mugs, or something? :) |
Hello Everybody,
I am stressing big time. Big concert next week with the San Antonio Symphony and we are practicing nightly, no time to make dinner, lots of take out and no time to fit in exercise (unless I get up at 5am or do it at 10pm neither of those things is gonna happen). Concert is next Thursday....just crossing my fingers that this stress doesn't lead to a few extra lbs on the scale <sigh>. Way too many food celebrations at work these days too, food is everywhere! If I can hold on for one week, things should calm down. Rosemary |
Hello all. Not much going on here. Went yesterday to the post office to pick up my package from Monet and they had the whole parking lot toren up so that you couldn't get in. Only in a small town can they do such a thing. I'll go back today or maybe call first. Did some laundry. Other than that the day is slow. Eating has been good. Made a great dinner of poached chicken, brussel sprouts, salad and a slice of cantaloupe. Need to grocery shop tomorrow we're out of anything good. Need fresh vegetables.
Rosemary- I hope your concert goes well. Maybe next time you can figure out something different. Like pack a lunch. Maybe have some frozen diet dinners ready for you. I can't even imagine how hectic things must be. Just do your best and thats all you can do. Try to relax and enjoy. Monet-Have a happy day up north. Thats wonderful you sold a piece. Your things are beautiful. Tech- Everything sounds wonderful and exciting. You're like Rosemary busy as can be.... I'm so excited about your shop. The barber pole sounds great. Please don't stop coming. Will be back later. |
