Good afternoon
WTG Mo!!! You are doing awesome. About the tatoo..I do have one on my back. It wasn't too bad. My daughter has one on her foot and she said it was past painful. :)
Bob...thank you sweet lady. I don't know why the last year has been such a toughie. I wish I could go back to year one with the same motivation and drive. Not to mention the rapid weight loss. :) Monet....You are doing such a great job with your water exercise. I should get out to the pool and do something. The kids would love it. Last year they got a kick of me walking in the pool. Solly...hang in there. ((hugzz)) Rosalie...you had me laughing. I was trying to figure out what sugary stuff...that is what I get for trying to read too fast. :) Guess I'd better get and start shelling some of the peas I picked this morning. Love and hugs, Crystle |
Hello everyone! I went to Target and got a new water filter, then to Petsmart where I bought five black skirted tetras for my new aquarium. I could have gotten free Platies, but I like the tetras. Besides, the platies are live bearers, and rather prolific! I don't want to have to keep adding tanks for them!
I went to water aerobics this morning...we had a really good work out even though there must have been 40 or more folks there! The pool was very crowded! COUNTRY: You have a pool and you don't do water aerobics??? Why ever not? It is SO easy and feels so good! I got a book on it, but if you have deep water, all you need is one of those noodles and you are set! Ride it like a hobby horse, and just move like you are jogging, with your arms under water. The resistance helps build muscle, and it is a really good workout. I can go for 60 minutes now, and it is FUN. Why not set a goal of doing maybe 15 minutes a day for a week? You can race me if you like...but I get in a minimum of 45 a day...so catch me if you can! |
Hi Ladies
Thought I would take a mintute before I get started on the mess on my desk. My eating has been great this week, but I am ashamed to say the exercise has been nill. I have asked my DH to get me up when he does (I never hear his alarm), but he gets me up when he gets ready to leave and then I don't have enough time to walk. Next week will be better, hopefully starting tomorrow. Bob, teaching old dogs new tricks is a slow process, but can be done. Hang in there. No, we go on vacation the 5th of July. Monet. Happy belated birthday to Laura. 21 is a milestone age. The next few years will fly by. But I don't know how the first 21 got here so quickly. Crystal, OK the gauntlett has been thrown down. Are you going to meet Monet's challenge? It's something to give you motivation. You will have to report back here on your progress. Mo, :cheer: Fabulous job. You should be so proud. Keep up the good work. Happy birthday to Eric. The party sounds challenging, but fun. Rosalie, How is your walking coming? Better get started here. Have a great day. |
Good Morning all
I know it's not Friday but I received this in an e-mail this morning and it gave me a laugh so wanted to share. (I would probably forget to do it tomorrow). George Carlin (Absolutely Brilliant) IF YOU DON'T READ THIS TO THE VERY END, YOU HAVE LOST A DAY IN YOUR LIFE. AND WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED, DO AS I AM DOING AND SEND IT ON. George Carlin's View on Aging Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!! But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 And your dreams are gone. But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would! So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60. You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90's, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92." Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!" May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!! HOW TO STAY YOUNG 1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them!" 2 Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. 3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's. 4. Enjoy the simple things. 5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. 6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive. 7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge. 8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help. 9 Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is. 10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. And if you don't send this to at least 8 people - who cares? But do share this with someone We all need to live life to its fullest each day!! Have a wonderful day!!!!!!! |
Hi Again
I should really get away from here and get out for a walk before I have to leave for bowling in a couple of hours. I've been going to bed late and consequently sleeping late the last couple of mornings so have not got out for my morning walks. But I have been roaming around shops the last couple of days so that should count for some exercise. To-day I have two lots of bowling - 5 pin bowling this afternoon and then lawn bowling this evening. Eating has been so-so and the weight staying much the same, just gaining and losing the same couple of pounds. Maybe one day I will get it all together and start losing again. They opened the swimming pool here yesterday but I think I will give it a few days to warm up before venturing in there. Have a good day everyone. |
HELLO EVERYONE  We've been having a terrible heatwave here; in the 90's and 100's :yikes: which is unheard of for northern Ontario, Canada and in June ~ go figure??? So our air conditioner is working hard, but after a fuse blew, we discovered it was on the same line as our freezer and my PC and a few other things (lights)! So, now I have to turn off my PC when the air conditioner is on.
ANYHOW ~ not the end of the world, but man this room is hot with the freezer in it; it heats the whole room and it's almost 30C (80F's) in here; but I will survive! Went for my walk in the village all this week and my store-walking which is like mall-walking only in large department stores and such. I don't even notice that I'm exercising cuz I'm too busy looking at the stuff ~ LOL! MONET ~ thanx for the info on the carbs thing. My plan is similar; I'm trying to increase my walking to see if that helps too. COUNTRY ~ I'm so concerned about gaining too; hope you can get back on track soon. Try to just go for a 20-minute walk 3-4 times a week; maybe that might help you. HEY MO ~ you are doing so fine; I know that CURVES gives a mean workout! Good for you keepin' up to them!!! If this sveltering heat goes down a bit, we may be able to go out for a swim at the nearby lake; right now it's too hot to breathe. I don't know how some people stand it out there! ROSALIE ~ that George is so funny sometimes; great post! SOLLY ~ Thanx for the welcome; sorry you are so busy, hope things will improve eventually! I know that I am grateful to have this free time now! BOB ~ it takes a little time to learn the ropes on any new job; hope it all works out for you! HELLO TO EVERYONE ELSE ~ I just wanted to get in here and post, so take care all; ROSEBUD. |
The dead have arisen!
I felt like I was dead or at least dying!! Don't get a summer cold, it takes the starch right out of you......which I replaced with saltines (whole grain of course), cereal, bread. Anything that didn't need preparation. The chiropractor has released me from treatment for the auto accident aches. I am where I was before the accident, in pain, but that's entirely different. Did get out in the pool a couple of times. It just seems like so much trouble.....undress, put on suit, take off suit, dress. It's so much work. The last couple of days I am beginning to feel like me. Today I am cooking supper. I am making your chicken recipe MONET, the one with pineapple, tomatoes, etc. Will see if the family likes it. I went to NH this morning. It was very interesting. We usually do current events but one lady mentioned her DD. The DD had Downs Syndrom and was in a group home. The mother called when Katrina was threatening and asked if they had an evacuation plan. They said yes. Only thing is when the time came the DD was helicoptered to Baton Rouge. There was no way the mother could get there due to conditions here. The DD died a month later. They could not bury her until February (a common occurence due to Katrina). This story started a flood of stories. Many professionals think we should shelter our elderly from reality. I go with the flow. If someone wants to talk I let them. We never did get to current events. They told about their children, relatives and friends who had suffered losses from Katrina. They even had some humor, s story about a huge Fostorria punch bowl that was the only thing that survived in a son's home. There were a few tears that welled up. It was all very cathartic for them. Even though Katrina is almost two years ago, and old news outside of the Gulf Coast, it is a very present tradegy that's still being lived with today here. A main concern.......this hurricane season. A couple of the group thanked me for listening, said it was good to talk. The elderly have feelings too. We've lived through a lot and have managed to get this far without being coddled. We know reality. Sorry, that soapbox thing again!! I have not read the posts, will have to browse to see what's happening. My eating has not been the best and I gained 4#. I don't consciously try to eat improperly, it just happens. Will try to get my backfield in motion and be on board regularly again. May good things happen, Shirley |
SEF: It was good to see your post. I was worried we had lost you again....no wonder my head is full of gray hairs! Gosh, which recipe of mine is that? I need to go see if I can find it! Pineapple and tomatoes??? Pineapple isn't legal! Shame on me!
It is thundering here...and beginning to rain. Yay! We really need it badly! Off to fix dinner! |
MONET: You called it "Sweet and Sour Chicken" .
You gave me an explanation about the pineapple not being legal but that the GI Load per serving would be much less than 10. I think I skimped too much on the pineapple, DS is not a big fan of it. Next time will put in the full amount. |
Sef - It's good to see you posting again. I'd been wondering what had happened to you.
Monet - You can stop looking for that recipe. I'm the guilty one that posted it and here's what I wrote about the pineapple: I know pineapple is a no-no but it is only about 1 oz of pineapple and juice per serving. And the juice has a lower gi than the fruit so with the gi of 66 for the fruit and gi of 46 for the juice the gi for fruit and juice together should be no more than 60 and I am sure the GI Load for that amount would be much less than 10. If you don't want to use pineapple you could try it with unsweetened juice. This recipe is also good with pork. I sometimes make it with pork tenderloin or any other lean pork. |
Morning! Slept ok last night. I am without a car today, so my plans are to glaze and load and fire the kiln today. I may even do some cleaning in the studio...it would help since the space is tight, and clutter does NOT help! :)
ROSALIE: Thank you for claiming the recipe! I was really wondering about it...now I will go look for it again, since you always have great recipes and I love sweet and sour pork! SEF: How was the sweet and sour chicken? I am not a big fan on pineapple either, but in some things, like sweet and sour, it just goes. Ya know? :) |
TGIF!
Boy, I was sure hoping today was Saturday. One more day. We have a busy weekend. I will go to WW in the morning, then straight to get my hair cut and colored (boy it needs it) and then we have a wedding at 1:00. Tonight we are going to a Bluegrass concert. Sunday of course is Father's Day and we are going to my DD's. Her pool is in and a nice way to spend the day. Sef, Just go skiiny-dipping, then you don't have to fool with the suit on and off. ha-ha. My friend calls it chunky dunking. Rosebud, exercise if nice when you don't know you are doing it. Keep up the good work Monet, seems like I never have enough time in the summer for cleaning. Enjoy your day. Rosalie, Have a great day! Got to get busy here. Everyone have a great weekend. Happy Father's day to your spouses and fathers. |
YES, IT'S ME! How is everyone. I'm good. Still with the bank. I've done so much better with my eating over the past couple months. For well over a year I had been going from upper 160's to upper 170's. Just got tired of it. I'm now in the 150's and a size 10 which feels good. I can wear some 8's but I know it's just the way they are made, lol. Still do my workouts, getting up early. Ashley and Boogie are so big now. She's 11 and pre-teen and driving me crazy. Boogie is 7, doing good although he's starting to act more like his sister now(sigh). I just wanted to let you guys know I'm still around!
|
HEART: What a pleasure to see your post! I am so glad things are going well for you in the eating/weight area! You have done so well! Maintaining is not easy, but look at you! You are keeping it off, and that just rocks! I hope you can get Boogie under control and not have to deal with attitude with him too! :) Don't be a stranger! We miss you!
|
Oh dear, I come back and start controversy. Sorry ROSALIE. When I printed out the recipe I missed the name and for some reason thought it was MONET. Will be sure to get the name the next time. I am sorry to say DS did not like it. I swear he can taste pineapple no matter how you disquise it. The three of us girls liked it.
SOLLY: In my wicked, wicked childhood I went chunky dunking. Now I am a little more discreet, never know who might be peeking through the cracks in the fence. Also wouldn't want to shock my kids. You know how it is, Moms never had sex or anything! I did go out in the pool just before I sat down here. Ypu have a busy weekend ahead of you. HEARTMOM: how good to see your post. Glad things are going so well for you. I might be able to get a size 10 on one of my legs! Hope you will post more often. Did wash today and that was enough. THIS TALE IS A REAL GAS ! Sister Mary Ann, who worked for a home health agency, was out making her rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of gas. As luck would have it, an Exxon Gasoline station was just a block away. She walked to the station to borrow a gas can and buy some gas. The attendant told her that the only gas can he owned had been loaned out, but she could wait until it was returned. Since Sister Mary Ann was on the way to see a patient, she decided not to wait and walked back to her car. She looked for something in her car that she could fill with gas and spotted the bedpan she was taking to the patient. Always resourceful, Sister Mary Ann carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with gasoline, and carried the full bedpan back to her car. As she was pouring the gas into her tank, two Baptists watched from across the street. One of them turned to the other and said, "If it starts, I'm turning Catholic." ------------------------ Two robins were sitting in a tree. "I'm really hungry," said the first one. "Let's fly down and find some lunch." They flew down to the ground and found a nice plot of newly plowed ground that was full of worms. They ate and ate and ate till they could eat no more. "I am so full, I don't think I can fly back up into the tree," said the first one "Let's just lay back here and bask in the warm sun," said the second. "O K," said the first. So they plopped down, basking in the sun. No sooner than they had fallen asleep, when a big fat tomcat sneaks up and gobbles them up. As the cat sat washing his face after his meal, he thought... | | | | | | | | (scroll down) | | | | | | | | | (ready??) | | | | | | | | | | (you're gonna like this one) | | | | | | | | | | "I JUST LOVE BASKIN' ROBINS." I know-- I groaned too -------------------- Will I live to be 80? I recently chose a new primary care physician. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well" for my age. A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I'll live to be 80?" He asked, "Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?" "No," I replied. "I don't do drugs, either." Then he asked, "Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?" I said, "No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!" "Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, fishing or relaxing in the beach?" "No, I don't," I said. He asked, "Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?" "No," I said. "I don't do any of those things." Then he looked at me and asked,"Then why do you give a ****?" May good things happen, Shirley |
Happy Saturday friends
I hope your all enjoying youe day and that your having better weather than us, we got rain for the next few days so we shall be celebrating fathers day inside this year. Sef glad to see you back and doing great. everyone else hi and bye |
We had a good day today, over all. We went to Ft. Mountain state park for a picnic and walking trails. Boy I got my walking in there! Then we stopped by another historical site on the way home. We also stopped by a Long John Silvers for dinner (kids choice) and it was awful! I felt good about my food choices today till that! I've updated my signature again as I have felt kind of out of control lately and I feel better when it is going well. So when I've had a good day with some exercise and good choices in food, I'll reward myself with a dancing fool!!!:broc:
Everyone have a great Father's day tomorrow! |
Hi all,
Cleaned yesterday, washing the day before and cooking day before that. Today I am paying for it. Went to church but left before the sermon as I couldn't sit comfortably, even had taken a pillow for my back and sat at the end of the pew for side support. Felt I had to go as I had to make an annoucement for YAH. Sometimes it's not worth getting up in the morning. Have not done a thing, other than change clothes and let Bitsy out/in since I came home. Thanks for the welcome back, everyone. I never intended to desert. Maybe after a nap I'll try to sew a couple of afghan strips together. One of our choir members just got engaged. Maybe I'll look through my patterns for a wedding sampler. Nothing great to report, just saying Hi. May good things happen, Shirley |
Hello everyone! We just finished dinner. I made grilled pork chops, ww organic pasta with homemade, home grown pesto, and sauteed spinach. The pesto turned out awesome! We were all fighting over the half I WAS going to put in the fridge for another meal...we ended up eating it all on the pasta! I made it with basil out of the garden, added some mint too, and it was just perfect on pasta! I used rosemary and thyme out of the garden on the pork chops...they turned out good too. I am so proud of me! :)
THIN: I love Ft. Mountain. I think the mystery behind WHO built the 'fort' up there is so cool! If it WERE the Indians, they why doesn't their lore have ANYTHING about it? If it was not the Indians, then who was it? Guess we will never know! SEF:  Feel better my friend. I am glad you are not deserting us...I missed you when you were gone before, and I might just have to come looking for you if you ever disappear again! :nono: Off to get ready for church! |
HELLO KIDDO'S
I'm still drained from all the learning and this is the week that I have to do it all. Friday was a blurr, and all I can hope for is FRIDAY TO BE HERE AGAIN!!! QUICKLY!!!! Let me get past this week and I'll be back on a regular basis...I've not deserted y'all! BOB |
Just an interesting idea...
On the plaque by the stone wall that Monet was asking about, was a legend that it might have been built by Welsh colonists that supposedly landed near Mobile Alabama way before Columbus. The Indians talked of "Moon eyed people" which could be because of their light colored eyes. They lived in peace with the Indians for years until they somehow got into a spat and were massacred by the Indians or married into the tribe. Something to think about? |
THIN: And yet, there is NO Indian lore about it. That in itself is strange because the Cherokees had a well developed verbal history that was handed down from one generation to the next. I have heard theories about it being built by DeSoto too, as they are sure he passed through north Georgia. (supposedly in the DeSoto falls area a Spanish helmut was found...)

Hi everyone. I quit my job Saturday morning during a store meeting. I was so sad and was bawling doing it. BUT, I desperately need July off because of a slew of things I have happening on Saturdays in July (Marching Band things, my nieces wedding in Rochester) and my boss's boss said absolutely not, that I can't have the month off to take care of these things. I said, hypothetically, what if I quit and then come back in the fall and she said she would absolutely not let my boss hire me back. You may remember a little tangle I had with my boss's boss back a few months ago where she was ultra rude to me. I called the Corporate office and complained, and HER boss from teh corporate office called me and I told her everything she did. The boss's boss's boss (confusing) apologized to me for her rude behavior and the boss's boss ended up calling me at home and leaving a message to call her back, but I didn't get the message until about a week ago and I didn't call her back because I knew I would be seeing her last week and figured she could talk to me then. Anyhow...I figure I got her in a heap of trouble with her boss and now she's like, "oh, so you want favors from me now?" Oh, well. I need this time off to the point of I have to quit to get the time off and will never be able to work at Master Cuts again because I got the boss's boss in trouble. BUT, the good news is that one of the girls that the boss's boss makes cry every time she sees her said that the last time she was in, she was really nice to her, so I think I fixed a problem and if I did, I'm happy for that, anyway.
But, I'll be able to be on here more often because of it. Will talk to you guys later on. |
Welcome back, Tech. I missed you! And if you want to work at Master Cuts again, call the boss's boss's boss again...tee hee.
I have a doctor's appointment this morning to get lab results. I hope it is ok...I am expecting my A1c (diabetes management test) to be bad, but the rest should be ok.... |
Happy Monday Morning everyone
I hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was busy. I played badminton Saturday afternoon and in the evening went to a Jack and Jill party. Yesterday was lawn bowling then to my dil's parents for a barbecue. Eating was good yesterday but I screwed up at the party on Saturday after having a good week. But at least a couple of the pounds I gained were off again this morning. A couple of days ago I was 191.6. Maybe one of these days I will break that 190 barrier. I was up early this morning and went walking, same yesterday morning also was on the exercise bike for 10 minutes this morning. It's so much easier to do when you have a book to read while pedalling. I just finished a load of laundry and will be off to play badminton soon. Monet - That recipe for the Sweet and Sour Chicken/Pork is not on the recipe board but in one of my posts. I think it is on the May board near the beginning of the month. Let me know if you can't find it and I will post it again. Tech - Sorry you had to quit your job. Who knows, they might be glad to have you back in the fall. If not I am sure you will be able to find something else. Sef - Hope you are feeling better to-day. Have a good day everyone. |
So, anyhow...I'm so sad to be leaving my job. I think my favorite customer was a little goth girl that had eyebrow piercings and such and black clothes. She was 15 or so. Anyhow...she was the type that wouldn't smile if her life depended on it, but I talked her mom into letting me color her hair jet black and put in hot red highlights around the front. Little Mermaid or Ronald McDonald red highlights. I cut her hair into an inverted bob and used my thinnning shears to make it whispy around her face. Well, the girl that wouldn't smile if her life depended on it was positively cramping her face trying not to smile and kept lookign in the mirror messign with it and said, "I have never loved my hair so much ever!!" It was totally her and a bullseye for me. One other customer I loved was a woman named Mary. She was kind of solemn and stern-like in my chair at first, but I had her laughing about the blizzard of '77 and we got along so well. She loved her hair and even bought product from me. When she left, my boss said she's never seen that lady leave happy and usually has the hairdresser reduced to tears because she's so mean. Another was a woman that came in with her hair down to her waist and wanted to donate her hair to locks of love. So, I gave her an inverted bob and blonde highlights just around her face, blowdried her hair with lots of whisps around her face and she looked like a totally different person. THAT was really cool, too. I'll really miss working there, but maybe I can go to another salon someday. I'm going to try and do some hair at home...actually at the customers' houses...and make some money on the side, but nothing will ever compare to working at Master Cuts. The most fun I've ever had working at a salon, hands down. Except for that horrible woman they call an area manager. SHE is the total pits.
Anyhow...Kyle graduates from Kindergarden tomorrow night. :faint: I can't stand it...he's growing up so darn fast. We've been out on the boat so much I already have a tan!! I've turned part of my flower garden into a veggie garden. I figure, why not? My impatence got impatient and died waiting to be planted, so I figure I'll plant some pumpkin seeds and grow our own this year in the same spot. I planted one tomato plant in my old flower planter (Derek calls it my cemetery urn) and I'll be planting some basil and rosemary, so I might as well do pumpkins too! Anyhow...will check in again later. PS...Bob...SO happy for you with the new job. I've been lurking and keeping up on some stuff. ;) |

Here are a few pics of me with my mom and dad and one of Derek with the kids yesterday for Father's Day dinner. Just thought I'd share! :)

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I missed yesterday. I had a presentation and then the day went to pot. We had a great weekend. The wedding was fun and Father's Day was relaxing inthe pool all day. I was down 3.2 pounds at WW on Sat. Monday up 7, down 4 today. Gotta love my body. Pretty quiet week for me. Just hope it's not crazy busy again. I have been getting up at 5:15 and walking for 40-45 minutes so far each day this week (I Know we are only on day 2), but it's a start. We are getting some of the much needed rain today. Our grass is all burnt up. I'm scared to death someone will walk by and throw a cigerette and start a fire. Heart, so happy to see you and more so to hear how great your eating/weigt has been. You are doing awesome. What is your secret? You & I have similar eating habits, so I am dying to kow howyou have fixed it. Please try to visit more often. We miss you. Sef, sorry you are hurting. Hope today is better for you. Bob, We are holding you to posting more frequently. You'll have all that stuff down in no time. How is Kate doing with you going back to work? Monet. How is that diet study going that you were doing? Tech, sorry you had to quit your job, but happy you will be here with us more. I'm sure you can find another job in the fall. Great pics, you sure look just like your mom. I'm a little worried that Kyle looks like the kid on home alone. Hope he is not as crazy. Shelly looks like your DH. She is a beauty. Rosalie, What is a Jack & Jill party? I bet you see the 180's sooner than you think. Got to get busy. Have a great day. |
Solly- really not a secret, just trying not to binge so much and eat healthier in general, still exercising. My bingeing had gotten out of control. I still have a binge every now and then but it's not continuous.

Hey everyone! I had a busy day! I got up early and went up to North Georgia. We talked, laughed, cried, then ran over to Mark of The Potter for some inspiration. When we got back, we ate lunch, then worked. We tried a few new things we saw at MOTP. Fun! Mixed some glazes, then I headed back home. I got in, changed clothes, and James and I headed right back out again. We met up with Tom and some friends of ours for dinner at a Jamaican restaurant. I ate TOO much. I forgot my Byetta..so I anticipate high bg levels. I got chicken curry, plantains, zucchini, and a patty! (a spicey little meat pie) I did drink unsweetened ice tea instead of a Red Stripe or cola champagne.
I am so tired now! I think I will go to bed early! |
Hi all.
Trying to get back to normal. Back is a little better, it should be as I have been extra careful. Ever since the accident I have been having problems with the insurance adjuster. I keep talking to his answering machine ot to someone else who can't do anything because it's Sean's case. One of them did send out a company that evaluates the damage. Then I got a letter from this Sean thanking me for discussing this with him, that he has not been able to get their insured, they need a police report, etc. I blew my top. Went to police dept. and got a copy of report in which their insured clearly admits it was his fault and was given a citation. No response. So I called Sean once more, was polite but firm telling him he does not keep his word.......may call is obviously not important to him, that he does not return calls by end of the working day, and that I expected a call ASAP. Then I called the main office and asked to talk to his supervisor. She said a number of things. That she would swend Sean an email and he should repond, if not call her again. This was Monday morning. In the early evening I got a call from Sean (Oh, you do acutlly exist) he had some figures to my son, what do I know about car values?, we accepted and there was a check delivered early this morning by FedX...even had a free pen LOL. Also I can keep the car without a buyback fee. Sean said have the chiropractor said the bill and it too would be paid. I guess like TECH you have to take a stand sometimes. Motor-wise the car runs fine. Since the accidnet there is something rubbing when I hit a dip in the road or a pothole or turn in the driveway. Going to have that checked and drive it with the dent in rear quarter panel and door. I probably won't be able to drive very long. So it should last me a couple of years. My six month retroactive SS came in so I feel rich! I treated to pizza last night. Joyful Noise entertained and I was aching and wasn't up to cooking. Now I will buy some bills and get Bitsy her booster shots and checkup. BOB: Getting into the swing of things at a new job can be draining. You know that, even though it's like it never happened before, but you will soon be running circles around it. You'll be fine. We are all pulling for you. TECH: Did you read the first part of thos post. Like you I had had enough. Apparently that boss is being nicer to people, so you did everyone a favor. Too bad you had to quit in order to meet your home demands. You seem very talented with good people skills, you'll do fine. You know there a lot of people who are a not able to get out easily and would love having someone come in regularly. It is one less thing they have to make transportation arrangemements for. I had a friend in PA who had a business of home calls. Bought a couple of specialized things like the shield for washing hair in bed or sink, drapes, you know what you would need. She was able to set her own schedule. Good luck whatever you do. Almost forgot....good pictures. Thanx for sharing. SOLLY: Although we have had less rain than usual so far this year, we have had plenty the last couple of weeks. We'll try to blow some your way. THIN: I love historical mysteries. My husband's uncle was a lumberman. He had lots of property and we use to go up to the woods and cut our Christmas trees, get ground pine for garlands and gather wintergreen berries. One spring we decided to go for a tramp around the woods. We followed a deer trail and as we came around a bend all we cold see were hundreds and hundreds of daffodils. It was breathtaking. Upon closer examination there was an old foundation and a stone wall. Who built it? What happened to the house or cabin? Why out there in the middle of God's country? Obviously by the age of it, the woods were probably only saplings. After that every spring we would walk up there, just for the sheer joy of seeing the daffodils. We would always speculate about the builders. We drew up several scenarios in our imaginations. ROSALIE: Wish I could do the physical things you do. You get lots of exercise. I was a doer and goer in my youth. We built a house with a kid on each hip! I admire your enthusiasm for life. MONET: Hope the tests are good. You really enjoy yourself when you head north. It must be very restorative for you. It's wonderful to have a friend like yours. I miss the fact that I don't have a best friend like that anymore. I have lots of friends here but not that special one. Except Pat who passed away. Did I miss anyone? I hope not. Have to get off as I don't sit well for too long. May good things happen, Shirley |
Howdy
Good afternoon ya'll. I wish I could report good eating and exercise but I have been doing poorly on both fronts and am staying around 181. I picked three pumpkins this morning and have them setting out in the sun for the next ten days. I would have never thought we could grow them here so I'm pretty excited about that. We pulled the last of the cream peas a couple of days ago and they are all shelled and put away. The one white squash that grew is putting out quite well. All 125 yellow squash were a wash. Talk about heartbreaking. :) The only things left in the garden are the okra, onions and pumpkins.
Monet...our pool is just a small above ground pool. I hope your test results come back okay. Heart..it is so good to see you. WTG getting back in the 150's. That is my goal but I keep backtracking. ((hugzz)) Bob...I hope you are having a good week this week. Rosebud...I hope I have the name right I forgot to take notes. You are SO righ about walking. There was a time you couldn't get me to miss a day. Two years ago I was putting in over 30 miles a week. Mentally it was as good for me as it was physical. Solly...hey lady. Good to see you. Tech..I'm so sorry you had to quit your job. I loved your pictures. Thanks for sharing. Toni...hey lady are you lurking? How are you doing? Sef..Rosalie..Ericsmommie...((hugzz)) Good to see ya'll too. Missy...if you are around how are you doing? Is tihs heat getting to you? Gotta scoot. ((Everybody)) Love and hugs, Crystle |
Just a quickie as it is almost time to go home.
Been walking 2 times a day, early morning and late at night. Hope that helps. Eating has been good. Tonight is bunco, that is always a test. Hopefully we will be in her pool and away from the food. Monet, with that daym, you should be tired. Get some rest. Sef, glad you got all that car mess settled. Sometimes you just can't be nice. Take care. County, come on girl. Get out there. You remember how much yo liked walking. Find you a buddy or take the dogs. Heart, glad you found the answer. Good going. Better run. Got to close up shop here. Have a great evening. |
Evening! I was lazy today. I ended up taking a nap this afternoon, and was OUT for two hours! Dinner tonight was sauteed sole filets, brussel sprouts and salad. I ate a cucumber from the garden tonight. Yum! It was the first one we got. In a few days, we are going to have more than we know what to do with! haha!
I can't believe I never shared about the lab results. My A1C was up a bit from last time, but still very good. I am sure it is going back down again, since my blood glucose levels seem to have dropped a good bit in the last two weeks. (this is a good thing, by the way! :) ) My thyroid meds needed a little tweaking, and my cholesterol was a little high, but probably because I was not fasting for the test. I go back in six weeks to be rechecked. SEF:  I am so glad you got the car stuff settled. I know what you mean about having that 'special' friend. Bonnie is the first one I have had in a long time. We just get along so well! I have other friends, but it just isn't the same. So I completely understand. SOLLY: I hope you get through the Bunco party without a problem! By the way, I have the new edition of your pot done, and will get it packed up and sent now. I LIKE this one! :) I hope you do too! COUNTRY: Pumpkins already? How big are they? I know if you have pumpkins around here, they are not ready to pick until the fall. We just got our first cucumbers tonight, and Tom said there was some okra about ready to be picked. In the next few weeks, we are going to have tons of stuff! I saw a few green beans the other day, so it won't be long! yay! Ok, off to get my water aerobics in...after napping this afternoon, I did not have time to suit up before Justin left for work.... |
Hey Everyone!!
Yep - I'm still around! I'm just not around the board at all lately!! How are all of you doing? We are great over here. I'm getting ready to bring Alexis to daycare because I have a Dr. appointment today. I'm 32 weeks - only 8 more to go!!! Still no weight gain so I'm really hoping to be down a few once I have this baby!!! Hopefully that will be motivation for me! That and I'm sure I won't have much time to eat!! HAH! We have been working hard on getting things together for the baby's arrival - it doesn't seem like we will ever have everything done. I've also been trying to do all of my school work for my substitute. So, needless to say - I haven't had 1 day to just lay around in my pjs and do nothing. I go to the dr. 2 times a week and I've been bringing Lexie to the Dr. for different things too. I've been burnin some gas over here!! Well, I'll try to check back later today! I miss all of you and I hope you are doing well! Much love! Missy |
CRYSTLE: I just skimmed back a page and saw that you posted to me - thanks for thinking of me!! Yes - the heat is killing me! It's been SO HOT and humid here. I'm sure we will have a nice electricity bill this month!! The good thing is that I haven't put on any extra weight to make me even hotter!! Thank goodness for that!!!
TECH: You look like your mom!!!! Very nice pics - thanks for sharing! Ok - that's all for now!!! Missy |
Good afternoon
The scales went down so I'm a happy camper. There is something mental about being in the 170's versus the 180's. It makes me feel like I'll see the 160's or 150's again one day.
Monet...I'm not really sure how big the pumpkins are but if I had to guess around 5 or 10 pounds. I will have to take a picture. I have some pictures from when they were on the vine. My largest pumpkin is still on the vine and it might make 15 pounds. I think it is so cool your garden is starting to come in. Enjoy those cukes. Missy...so good to see you. It sounds like you are crazy busy. Hang in there. Awesome on no weight gain. I gained SOOO much with my first two kiddos. The last one the doctor pretty much kept on me to keep the weight down. Solly....I hear you. I'm seriously lacking motivation. I think that my poor eating and lack of exercise is effecting my emotions as well as my body. I need to bite the bullet and just do it. I have every walk video known to man. Okay maybe not that many but I do have several of Leslie's walk videos in the other room. ((hugzz)) ((Everybody)) You are each AWESOME and an inportant part of this board and support systerm. Thanks for being you. God bless, Crystle |
