  • Hey, all. Man, last week we were so busy, didn't get a chance to get online. Last week I did really good with everything except on Thursday and I was bad, not a binge but REALLY bad. But great all the other days. I weighed this morning and am at 165. So pretty much on track where I thought I would be at this point. I was at 162 about a week or 2 before Christmas, so I would like to lose 3 #'s this week. Then I know it will slow off some. Here's my menu for the day:

Bf- 2 eggs and 2 sl red. fat bacon and lite yogurt
    Snack- apple
Lunch: salad with low sodium can tuna, lite 3 cheese ranch dressing
Supper: Taco salad...salad mix, seasoned ground beef, ff refried beans, 2 % cheddar cheese, salsa, sour cream

I may have some almonds for another snack. Well, I gotta go, customers keep coming...have a good day!
  • Howdy all. Well its a new week and where is everybody???? Today is DH and my anniversery we've been married 19 years. Don't think we'll get to go out cause DH works at night. I'm just thinking about making a pot of beans. So much for celebration. I lost 2 lbs this week and now I'm back to my ticker weight. So I'm really pleased. Breakfast was an organic blue berry waffle and OJ. Well I'll check back later to see if anyone else posted.

Heartmom- Way to go. Your menu looks good and that taco salad sounds so yummy.
  • I am fixing dinner for 60 tonight...it was originally 55, but they raised it to 60 this morning. I don't mind, as it means more money, but I hope I have enough!

The menu for tonight is: chicken curry with almonds, coconut and mandarin oranges for garnish, brown basmati rice, orange pistachio salad with raspberry vinaigrette, mango ice cream and coconut pound cake.

I played with the baby some this morning while his slacker parents slept in! He is SO cute!

Off to get cooking! Later my friends!
  • Good morning all! Nothing exciting to report here except I threw out my back again. Little ones are busy as always and DH left yesterday. Hopefully he will be back in the area tomorrow.

Toni, Happy Anniversary! Dont be discouraged, perhaps this weekend you and DH can do something special.

Heartmom, I agree with Toni, that taco salad sounds yummy!

Monet, good luck with your dinner tonight. Cooking for 60 is a task I wouldnt want to take on. Are your blood sugars back on track?

Well I have to go pick up the little man from preschool. Have a great day!
  • Hi Ladies,

Sorry I didn't get on Friday. It is nuts here. One of our estimators quit and seems like everything is going to h**l here. We are so short and can't find anyone. So I may not be on here much for awhile. I will try to get on 1st thing in the mornings as the day goes it gets crazier.
  • Hi everyone

Toni - Happy anniversary. Good to see you are down 2 lbs this week.

Monet - That's quite a crowd to cook for. I don't know how you do it. You must be very organized. I think I will invite myself over. I love curry.

Sue - That must be tough chasing little kids around with a sore back. Take care and get better soon.

Heartmom - Good luck on your goal for this week. I am sure you can do it.

I was out for lunch to-day with a few of the gals I used to work with. I had rotisserie chicken breast with coleslaw and veggies plus I ate one small bun dipped in gravy. For breakfast I had 2 crepes with the blueberry/cranberry mixture that I had left over from the cheese cake I made the other day with a dash of agave. And a few almonds for a mid-morning snack. I shouldn't need to each much for dinner this evening as I am really stuffed.
  • Hi everyone. Just a quick fly by while I have a banana bread (an illegal one...but I had four really ripe bananas I didn't want to toss) in the oven. I've been running like a headless chicken with working and trying desperately to clean my house. I got the living room looking GREAT, but the dining room table is a lost cause, I think. It has computer parts on it and the recently rejected Xbox, PS2 adn gamecube. There is massive amounts of things I need to find a place for, but at least I got all the side tables, pictures and nicknacks dusted and the floor vacuumed. Now I have to venture upstairs and put on sheets and vacuum up there. I pinched a nerve or muscle while vacuuming and can't decide whether I was upset or glad that I might not be able to clean anymore...but it worked itself out, so back to work. I've also been on the phone with insurance companies trying to get health insurance for Derek and I. His work is in New Jersey and the insurance they have is good for people that live in NJ, but being a good 5 hours away from there, there are no participating physicians anywhere near us. This is normal for us as most of the jobs Derek has had since we've known each other are headquarted in NJ and the insurance usually stinks. We have the kids on Child Health Plus, but at the moment, Derek and I are uninsured. I hate that. Anyway, I called BC/BS adn they told me that for Derek and I to have an HMO plan through them, just the two of us, would be $1,777.72 per MONTH!! I didn't know whether to laugh or faint! I mean...COME ON!! That is flat-out insulting!! That's, like, 4 times our mortgage payment!! Anyhow...I might have to go fulltime at Master Cuts and get us insurance through my job. Full time is only 25 hours a week, so I imagine I could work a double shift on Saturdays and add one more 9-2 day and get there. We'll see.

Okay...got towels to fold and sheets to put on!! C-ya!!
  • I just got in from church. I am SO tired! The dinner went well though. I had several people ask me for the recipe...that is my standard for doing well...recipe requests!

I forgot to take my Byetta with me, so I am afraid to check my blood sugar. I am sure it is BAD....

I need to go unpack the leftover stuff out of my trunk!
  • Hey Peeps!

First things first...I'm sitting here having a bowl of Blue Bell Caramel Turtle Sundae ice cream as I type. I know I should be shot but it is absolutely devine! Have any of you tried it? It's one of the newer flavors. Sorry but I just had to tattle on myself!

I'm actually feeling good for the first time today. My "morning" sickness seems to last all darn day! I'm not vomiting - just nauseated all of the time. I know that's a great sign and I'm NOT complaining but I have to admit - I won't be upset when that is over with! I have lost 7 pounds now since I found out I was pregnant - just because I feel so crappy and also I've noticed that I can't eat nearly as much as before - which is a good thing!

I got a food steamer for Christmas from my Aunt and I steamed some broccoli tonight - delish! My only problem - what can you put on top of broccoli other than cheese? I just squeezed a little lemon on there tonight. I need something wonderful though.... My steamer is really neat it has 3 different sections/containers that stack up so that you can steam 3 different things at a time.

We went back to school today - the kids were so excited to see me - I wish I could say the same...I'm so sad..but I really didn't want to go back!

MONET: Glad to hear the dinner was a success! I love when people ask me for recipes too! Are you gonna come stay with me after I have this baby so I can sleep in?

TECH: You can't be serious - $1777.72 a month?!?! OMG!!! That is rediculous! I would have to say that you need to pick up some hours here and there to get benefits through your work. WOW - I'm in complete shock!

ROSALIE: I have to say - your meals sound yummy! I'm sure you had a nice time visiting with friends - I always love when I get together with my old buddies!

SOLLY: I'm sure work will keep you hopping! Try not to stress too much!

TONI: Happy Anniversary!!! Y'all will just have to have a rain check night out! Have a wonderful day!

HEART: I have to agree with Toni - that taco salad sounds yummy! I do love them. We will usually have tacos for supper and then I'll bring a salad to work the next day with the leftovers. YUM! Enjoy!

Well....I'm off to bed! Hopefully I sleep better than BOB!!!

    Missy
  • FRUIT: Sure I will come stay with you after the baby comes, so you can sleep in! Realize though, that you will have to fight me for 'babytime', cause I will want to smother it with loving. I do adore babies! Nausea IS a good sign, so I am glad you have such a great attitude about it. Poor kids at school! I know what you mean! They just LOVE you and you have to grin and act like you adore them even if you want to be 100 miles away.

TONI: Happy Anniversary! Here's to 19 MORE years together!

TECH: That sounds awfully steep for insurance! You can go see a doctor for $40 to $75 here! You could have a LOT of appointments for that amount!

Ok, time for me to fall into bed. Speaking of appointments, I know I have a dentist and a doctor appointment sometime soon...but I have NO idea when! uh oh!
  • Fruitloupe - I often make a white sauce to go on broccoli or cauliflower. Take a cup of milk and thicken it with either ww flour or arrowrooot. Add a teaspoon of chicken bouillon, some parsley if you like and a tspn or two of parmesan or romano cheese. Sometimes I will add onion to the sauce. Fry a chopped up onion for a few minutes (do not brown) then make the sauce in the same pan with the onion. This sauce is good on fish too.

    I forgot to mention this morning that I am down 2 lbs from last week;
  • Rosalie: Great news on the 2 lb loss!
Does arrowroot have any flavor? I've seen it as a suggested thickener, but have not tried it yet.

Tech: I thought $500 per month was alot for insurance, my mom had to have her own insurance a few years back and I believe thats how much it was. I figured it'd be cheaper just to put the money in an account and pay for the doc's yourself.

Monet: I'm glad your dinner for 60 went well.

I'm at 169 still, but not gaining. I did some pilates this morning - I really like it, I have major back problems and it seems to keep my back healthier.
  • Good morning! I slept well...but I am so stiff and sore this morning! My morning bg was not too bad, but I did not take my main med last night, so it was not 'in target'. I need to change doctors..

COLE: Good for you doing the pilates! Whatever you can do to keep limber, and toned while one part heals is good. Staying the same is good...and you might be like some who then have a drop after a week or so!
  • Yup...totally serious on the quote. I can't imagine what insane person would fork out that much a month to pay for insurance! It was for the BC/BS Blue. We also looked into ValuMed and they would charge us $190 per month per person, so close to $400 a month for us both. The kids can stay on their Child Health Plus, they said. Also, with what I'm offered at work, the insurance would be nice, but it's one of those 'they pay for $75 per office visit and a little more for a pap smear' things, so we'll have to pay a lot at the doctor as most of the doctors here charge minimum of $100 per visit...for checking your throat for the flu-type things. But it's also on a scale and after I'm there for 3 years, I can go to a different stage and get better coverage. I've never heard of that type of thing before, but it's Aetna insurance, so I must be at least decent.

Junior's been doing great lately. It dawned on us that we just have to suck it up and take him for a walk every day three times to do his business and not allow him in the backyard until we get some cold weather. I tell you, I have not seen such a mild, soppy winter in YEARS! I hate it. So, now our front yard is littered with poo piles instead of our backyard. And this morning, it was cold and I saw ice in our backyard, so I let Junior go outside to gallop around (actually, its more of a gallop/frolick thing he does) and chase the squirrels around. There he went, straight for the tree with a squirrel nest in it...stands on the ice and PLOP, dropped straight through the ice into the mud underneath. So, there he sits on the backporch until the mud dries. Makes me SO MAD.

The kitties are getting along GREAT. I actually found them sleeping together on the corner chair the other day and they chase each other around the house and play with fake mice together. I think Kitty really enjoys Mitzi (yes, the name has changed) around.

Monet: Your church is so blessed to have you to cook for them. I hope they include you in thanks during their Sunday prayers.

Cole: Pilates just sounds painful. I have the Walk Away the Pounds CD...three miles...and it's just the perfect workout for me. But I'm glad what you're doing is good for your back!

Fruit: I wanted to hang up on the guy and call him names when he gave me that quote, but he's the messenger, so I decided to politely tell him so shove it. Regarding your job and your condition...I can't imagine how hard it has to be to have such a high stress job, in which you need to be happy and cheerful, while wanting to hurl all the time. Cheer up...in 7 years or so, that little bugger in your belly will be the same age as the little buggers in your classroom...how scary is THAT?

Solly: Hope things smooth out at work for you soon! We'll be here when you have the time!!

Sue: I know how you feel with the hubby leaving you with the kids. Mine is gone a lot, too. He has a new job doing a similar thing in the same stores (don't ask...it's a long story and I tend to be long-winded enough as is) and the new company doesn't seem to be sending him out of town as much as the last one, so I'm glad for that, at least. But I do sometimes like the nights when he's gone because then it's Spaghettios night and I don't have to cook a big meal. I always feel like I need to put on a bigger spread when hubby's home.

    Toni: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
