Default Rewarding yourself?

Everyone please read this and contribute! I am curious to know what some of you are doing to reward yourself for reaching certain goals -- anywhere from losing your first 25 pounds, to crossing the 200 mark, to making good dinner choices at you're parents' wedding anniversary party. Do you have a sticker chart that you add to whenever you have a loss? Do you have a necklace that you string beads to for every 5 pounds? Do you treat yourself to some smaller-sized clothes you've been eyeing? Buy yourself a new exercise video?

I'm really interested to know your tricks, as I'm sure others are, so please share them!!!

In order to encourage myself to journal, I bought a booklet of stickers and for each day that I successfully journal and stay on program, I put a sticker on that page of my journal. It is motivating to see how many stickers I can get each week. As far as weight loss rewards, I bought a charm bracelet and get myself a new charm for each 10 pounds lost. Can't weight to proudly wear it and know how much work went into each of those charms!!!

Default Hi Nancy......

For every 15 pounds that I lose, I reward myself with a new lipstick or some of my favorite makeup from QVC. I love trying new colors of eyeshadow or liner, and a new lipstick is instant gratification for me!!!!!! So I have a makeup hangup! It just makes reaching those little goals even more rewarding.

Ramona

I tried to put smilies for every 5 pounds lost, but it said I had too many icons and to go back and take them off!

We usually reward ourselves for a week of healthy eating by going to a nice place to eat on saturday. This has never seemed to hurt the weight loss at all, and it really gives you some incentive to eat healthy all week. Just hearing people say how good you look, and fitting into clothes that you never thought you ever would fit into again are great rewards. It's amazing how much more energy you have. Continued good luck to you all. [email protected]

I have a plain gold band that looks like a wedding band and I have added a diamond (very small $30.00) for every 30lbs lost. I currently have 2 diamonds and am 5 lbs from a third. I chose 30 lbs. per diamond, bacause my goal is to lose 150 and I think that the ring would look good with 5 diamonds. I chose a ring instead of a charm bracelet or something else, because I can wear the ring all of the time. I keep it on to exercise, shower etc. I wanted to wear it all the time as a constant reminder of how good I am doing. When I got to 75 off, I treated myself to a new bike and I will also do something special when I get to 100 off, so the rewards are coming often now. When I reach my goal weight, I will probably have my before and after weight engraved inside the ring.

Asta - I love the idea of a ring with little diamonds and the engraved before and after weight! Just great. That would also be a great gift for people at goal who maintain year after year. You could do it with a bracelet as well.

I've been part of a WW 12 Week Challenge (see Lifetime/Maintainence threads) and put it out there that as a reward of losing half the weight I gained back I'd buy a new sexy summer outfit. My hubby was so impressed with my "determination", that he ended up paying for it.

I've decided I need an interim reward and have planned to go "check out" black jeans at a nearby dept. store.

I still need to think of something special for the final half I've yet to lose to get back to my ideal dream weight. Keep you posted... Patch

I love the idea of a charm bracelet, necklace or ring as a reward....it's a constant reminder of how far you've come!!!! I've just done smaller awards...of course I'm only at 17 pounds, but that's 17 pounds lighter then I was before!!!! When I reached the ten pound mark I bought myself a bowdini. I do crafts, and making bows for my wreaths has always been a struggle....the bowdini helps even me make beautiful bows.

Thanks for the great ideas ladies!!!!

Hi,
I am so glad that some of you ladies out there are rewarding yourselves along the way-not waiting until they are thin enough to deserve something new! We are worth it at the beginning of this journey, or at goal!
I give myself a small reward for every 5 lbs. lost-I am into instant gratification!
Small items like a new nail polish, a new sexy pair of panties, a haircut-things that don't cost a whole lot but that make me feel good about myself all along the way.
I also pamper myself a lot -keep my toenails polished, hair hilighted, ect. so that no matter how far or close to goal I am, I look nice. Life is too short-women should not beat themselves up and deprive themselves because they are not thin.
I also pamper and reward myself by preparing delicious things to eat, so that the few calories I am eating are well worth it.
I make a great breakfast banana split-halve a banana, top with 1/2 cup low fat ice cream or frozen yogurt(110-130 cals.) and top with a couple halved strawberries. It is wonderful and only about 250 calories! I also love 1/2 cup lowfat vanilla ice cream/frozen yogurt in a glass with a diet root beer poured over-only 110-130 calories! You will find you are much more eager to stick to your diet if you are not feeling deprived-and you will become thinner faster, and get more rewards!
Take care everyone!

Angry Rewards

It is great when you reach a goal. But you should never reward yourself with food because that is how we all got into trouble in the first place!

When I reach a goal, I teating myeslf to a massage, buying new clothes or getting a new hairstyle. You will look and feel great about yourself, which is the most important thing!

Stay healthy and happy.

Default Don't misunderstand!

Hi,
Kadda-please don't misunderstand my post!
I do not reward myself with food for reaching a goal-I make things like this everyday!
I feel we should make the calories we do allot ourselves everyday the most enjoyable they can be-or we will feel deprived.
Dieting should not be about eating rabbit food all day.
I agree food should not be used as a reward, but eating should always be pleasurable.

Default self rewards

In order to reward myself whenever I lose weight I avoid giving myself food as a reward. Instead, I write in my journal and remind myself how far I have come. I also make myself new clothes that are more flattering to the 'new' me.
