Default NSV - No longer a diet, but a lifestyle!

So it's been crazy this week, but wonderful to know that I have successfully made a lifestyle change, and not just a temporary change.

I'm a design student, which doesn't sound all that difficult, but at the University of Cincinnati, it is common knowledge that design students often sleep in the design college building (the DAAP building) to finish projects, and all-nighters are not infrequent... our workload is intense.

I slept for two hours on Sunday night, got to DAAP at 5:30 in the morning, worked on projects until 9:00 (when class started) had 12 hours of class, 1 hour at Skyline (I have to be social, after all), and then I passed over that night's homework for 6 hours of precious sleep (which I regretted today, but oh well). Just one day out of the past 7...

Needless to say, it's the first week that my diet hasn't been my top priority, but I still managed to lose a pound! I made good choices everywhere I went, and haven't been work-eating (one way that I used to cope with the workload). I've been eating out a lot (no time for grocery shopping!) and despite the dent in my wallet, I've been ordering smart without even REALLY trying. It's becoming natural!

I just have to say... why didn't I lose these pounds earlier? I feel so much better, more confident, more everything (except happy... I chose to be happy before I lost the pounds ) But yeah, I'm excited at the unexpected loss, and so excited about approaching my goal!

Thats pretty awesome!! I have a friend who is a design student in Vancouver, BC.. she's constantly at school or doing some type of homework.. so I understand how crazy it can be! You are so close to your goal, with how you are doing you are going to be there in NO time!

Life can be so hectic and hard to stay on track. You sound like you are still doing well. It will become easier and easier to choose the healthier things. (Oh yeah, and screw the people that say, "No really here have some, its real good.") Keep doing what you are doing and Congrats on your loss. Hope things will get a chance to slow down a little for you so you can have a little "me time."

Congrat's. I too have realized that I have changed my lifestyle and i'm not just on a diet. This makes things so much easier. Even dining out, it is now just natural to choose the right foods.

Congratulations! I know about those design hours....I just graduated from a graphic design program at George Mason. I'm impressed that you've made it a life style...you deserve a huge pat on the back! I never could do that in college...I'm glad that you have made it happen!

Congratulations!

Congrats! As a busy high school senior, I know how it can be hard to keep your diet a priority, but for me it's become a way of life now and it seems to be that way for you, too! I don't even think about what I'm eating most of the time because I automatically make the right choices and if I'm going to friend's houses or on school trips I always pack a 100 cal pack of wheat crackers or some fruit to make sure there's always something I can eat.

Keep it up! <3

Hey Ashliebelle! I'm from Cincinnati, too. I live in England now and I have to say, it's a good thing I have been removed from the temptations of Skyline Chili!!!! Now I rely on Mom sending me the packets and I just make it with veggie mince instead of ground beef.

Nice to hear a voice from home once in awhile! Go Reds!

Congrats on becoming better able to maintain your healthy habits despite the stress you're under. That's a huge obstacle for so many of us. Its encouraging to hear how it can be done.

Good for you! Since I've made the conscious decision to eat better and lose some weight, I find that my new habits work themselves into my life even at the most unexpected times (even at the bowling alley when everyone around me was scarfing down pizza and chili fries). I'm glad that your new lifestyle has given you more confidence and helped you feel better about yourself.

Best of luck with your schooling!
