First Progress Picture

Well, I figured it was about time I posted some progress pictures. The one on the left was taken this past Christmas Eve, and the picture on the right was taken this morning. Yes, I'm wearing the same clothes even though the color looks different. It's kind of neat to see how much my hair grew during that time too.

Thank you all for the encouragement. I find it so inspiring when people post their progress pictures (whether the change is drastic or more subtle) and that has really helped to keep me motivated.

I'm a calorie counter. I just decided that I was going to be hardcore organized, using Word and Excel to keep track of what I was eating, how many calories were in what I ate, and how many calories I burned working out. I don't keep track of carbs, but I'm aware of them and have really cut down on bread.

I'm very fortunate that there's a gym in the building where I work, so it's convenient for me to work out. In the mornings (although I've been slacking with this a bit lately) I work out with weights and a stability ball. Then at lunch and after work, I do cardio (1/2 hour each time) at the gym. On weekends, I just do weights. All together, I work out 17 times a week, which seems like a lot, but it's been working for me. I'm sure this quote has shown up on the board before, but I try to keep it in mind: "No one said it would be easy, they only said it would be worth it."

Anyway, I know it can be tough for us "shorter" girls; I still feel short even though 5'4" is supposedly the height of the average woman. I wish you luck in your own efforts!

gagurl78 04-18-2006 11:51 AM

Yes, it is hard for us short ones...I'm 5'2". Ya gain a little weight and you look overweight, even if you're not! LOL. It seems taller girls can stand to gain a few pounds without people really noticing, but not us shorties.

Thanks for posting how you lost the weight! 17 times is a lot, but it obviously worked for you! And you did it in increments, it's not like you did an hour each time you worked out! ;) Thanks again

Ready2ShedLBS 04-18-2006 12:20 PM

Wow.. 17 times a week. That is hardcore. How much time do you spend each time you work out? You do look great. Id doesnt look like you have 10 more pound TO lose!

I'm not sure what the problem is. This is my first time posting any pictures on this site so I don't know if I need a different format or something.

SwimGirl 04-18-2006 02:29 PM

Wowsers!! You look GREAT, your waist is fabulously small! Keep up the great work and you'll be at your goal in no time!

wow, you do look great,
we have very similar stats, im 5"4.5.
I lost the majority of my weight last year tho and am just loosing some I regained and want to get to a lower goal. I have to say you look like youve lost more than 30 pounds, how many dress sizes have you gone down?
It must be thanks to the gym, you look slimmer than 131.5 now, I would have guessed you were 125

Wow.. you look amazing!

Out of curiosity, about how many calories are you eating with working out so much?

Keep up the good work! :)

phantastica 04-28-2006 09:08 AM

Excellent job! I'm on the opposite end of the height spectrum - I'm 5'11" - and you're right, I can gain about 10 pounds without anyone noticing. The downside is that it takes a lot longer for people to notice when I lose.

I like how you created a progress pic using the same clothes and the same pose. That is a great idea!

Alison79 04-28-2006 09:24 AM

WOW! You look great!

VirgoChic 04-28-2006 09:36 AM

I agree with girlieyorkie on that it looks like you're at a perfect weight. You look AWESOME! The first thought in my head when I saw the pictures were "wow.. she's hot".. You have a great figure! CONGRATULATIONS!

Goodbye Chubby 04-28-2006 10:56 AM

I've recently increased my calorie intake; currently, I try not to go below 1,200 and I'll have days when I take in 2,000. I do guiltily admit that a lot of times, I tended to take in fewer calories than what's considered healthy. I won't say exactly how much because I don't want to encourage anyone to potentially jeopardize his/her health. :nono: It's tempting to try to lose weight faster, but then after one day of eating normally, all that weight that was lost comes right back. Right now, my habits have been consistently healthy and this site has had a lot to do with that.

Cosmogirl, I don't know about the dress sizes. They're so inconsistant with sizes from one brand of clothing to another that I never know what I am. I do have a pair of pants I can wear now that I haven't worn since high school and they're a size 9. I used to wear a skirt that was a size 16, which is the largest size in my closet. I haven't been buying many new clothes since I'm waiting until I reach my goal. But instead of size large shirts, I can wear a size small. I actually bought a shirt that's an extra small! :D I've never had an extra small anything. I can't wait to get fitted for new bras; there's so much room in the ones I'm wearing right now I think I must have lost 10 lbs. just from my chest!
