Cool Oh Pass me By... What Have you Passed Up Lately?

Of course we are all faced with temptations to eat things we shouldn't... but I thought it would be fun to share things that "would have been the one" that would have caused us to give in if we were going to. Note this is NOT meant to be a "drooling" over what we didn't eat but rather a VICTORY celebration over resisting a real temptation.

For me it would have been at work on Friday. A guy brought in some homemade marshmallows... three varieties... and in the center were chocolate (with mini choc chips), vanilla and key lime! If anything was going to get me it would have been the homemade key lime marshmallow! But I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad I passed it by, and it was a real victory.

How about you? What have YOU turned down that made you feel really proud of yourself?

Friday a co-worker of mine called me while we were on our way in to work and asked if I wanted an Iced Mocha Latte covered in whipped cream and chocolate from Dunkin' Donuts. This is the only coffee I drink but god knows all the sugar and chocolate equaled mega calories. I told her no thanks.. and she was really surprised. It made me feel powerful in a way.

I made chocolate chip cookies today because I'm having some people over tomorrow... gross as it is, it was SO hard not to eat any cookie dough! But I resisted, and have yet to touch any of the cooked ones, either! I'm allowing myself one tomorrow... but only one, 'cause once the dam breaks...

I took my daughter to McDonald's today, and all I got was a bottle of water! No fries!

A margarita at my traditional mother/daughter lunch. We always go for mexican and have a margarita lunch. While I'm at it, I passed up the shell for my taco salad, the avacodo, and had fresh pico de gallo for dressing. HUGE NSV for me!

My husband stopped at this amazing greek restaurant to pick up dinner and brought me home some baklava. I didn't touch it. I also didn't touch any of the gyro's that he bought. I stuck to my planned dinner of a salad with grilled chicken and a small glass of diet soda for my treat (since I didn't touch the other stuff).

I only ate a couple of bites of the pasta I ordered for dinner tonight. It wasn't very good, but usually I would have eaten it all anyway to "get my money's worth". I didn't like it, I didn't want it, I didn't eat it.

I LOVE ribs!! My Dad prepared bbq ribs and chicken breasts tonight for dinner. I passed up the ribs...boy, they looked good...and just went for a chicken breast. I knew the ribs would have put me over my calorie deficit for the day, so it wasn't that hard. Some other day when I can budget them in, I'll eat them!

Lori - congrats on the HUGE NSV going out to Mexican and not indulging in all the extras there! I can really relate, since Mexican food is one of my favorite foods and main weakness.

Misti - I've never heard of homemade marshmallows! Let alone with fillings. I'm not "into" marshmallows, (maybe because I've never had the homemade variety?) but those sound very tempting.

Neri I had never heard of homemade marshmallows either... and I don't care all that much for marshmallows... but these looked delicious. The guy who made these has quite a reputation at work of being a fantastic cook and bringing in all kinds of wonderful, unique things! He did say these were very easy to make but his definition of easy and mine might not match up at all LOL.

And good for you for passing up the ribs... that would have been a hard one for me too!

And Midwife, that is neat that you were able to turn away from the spaghetti! It is hard when we have paid for something but far more wasteful to eat what we don't want than to throw it away!

well, my friends wanted to evenly split a platter or fried appetizers. I had about one tiny buffalo wing (damage regardless of size!) and one mozzerella stick. I let them have the rest of my share!

Oh you did fine, Veggielover... LOL one little buffalo wing won't do any damage, nor will one mozzerella stick! Way to go!

yesterday, I went to McDonald's with my son and ordered a salad and a drink and the kid thought I said ice cream. He then insisted that I keep the ice cream. I immediately gave it to my son.
