  • ....well, 32 actually and I'm into the 170's!!!

Got weighed today and I've reached my 30lb goal and my BMI is now......overweight!! I am no longer obese .

I'm over halfway to my goal weight of 150. When I started changing my lifestyle in Jan 2004 I was so unhappy with myself. Two false starts later and a proper restart in Jan 2005 and I'm well on my way. I feel happier, look better and feel much healthier.

When I get my camera back I might even get some pluck to post some progress pics .

Only 26 more lbs to go and now I have to decide what I'm buying myself as a reward. Those cute CK wedge sandals I saw at the mall or some Vera Wang perfume....
  • Why don't you tell us how you did that?
  • Well thanks for asking Susan .

I changed how I ate first. I cut out fried food, fast food, processed food (sugar, white bread, white rice, prepared frozen meals). I chose low cal/low fat/low sodium with calorie counting as that system seemed to make sense to me. I added more veggies and fresh fruit to my diet, more lean meats and seafood. I came here and started to learn about good fats, good carbs, that weight lifting wouldn't turn me into a man and the wonder of protein.

For exercise, I started out walking 2 miles a day at a steady pace, I then joined a gym and started with light cardio on elliptical machine and weight lifting 3 x a week. I now work out 5 x a week every morning before work with weights 3 x a week and 1 hour of cardio 2 x a week. I am in training for my first 5k road race. I enjoy my exercise!

In the past year I've dropped 3 dress sizes, reduced my body fat from 44% to 39%, lost 12lb of fat and added 6lb of muscle.

Wow, after writing all that I feel kinda proud of myself!
  • And you should be proud. I'm proud of you
  • Lynne! How wonderful for you!

Let me just say thanks for keeping me motivated. I say that because a lot of what your doing is what I'm doing. You are now proof that it works.
Keep going and good luck on the remaining 26lbs you have to lose.
