It's a sad fact that some doctors are chock-full of book-smarts but not people-smarts. Rather than just saying "You need to lose some weight" (well, duh), or demanding "I'm putting you on a diet!!!" (um, excuse me???), I think one question that doctors could ask is "How can I help you lose some weight?".
That would put me at ease, let me know she's on my side and that we're
partners in this project.
Our family recently relocated and I just had my first appointment with a new doctor. We had a long chat about my plan and we're on the same page. I like her (very people-smart, she is!) and I think it'll be a long relationship (unless I have to move again!).
And I think the phrase "morbidly obese" should just be eliminated. It's just too emotionally loaded to be worthwhile to anyone. Talk about an ego-crusher and motivation-killer!
BUT, to get this thread back on track...
Hooray for JT!!! I'm so happy for you! You've done so well and you have a whole new category to show for it! Woohoo!!!
