Red face NSV and Hard Earned One!!!

Whew, this was one of my harder days and there were temptations everywhere! For some reason I was sluggish today and did not want to do my walking. But I forced myself to and got in over 13,000 steps. The office is usually really hot but today it was between 78-79 degrees so I was roasting too.

First thing there were free Caramello candy bars out on the "free for all" table... yum, I love those things. But I waved hello to old friends and walked on by. Then for our Friday treats at work (10 AM every Friday) there were tons of big old donuts... BUT they did not even tempt me but looked and smelled greasy and yucky... yay!

I kept wanting to eat but managed to just eat my healthful stuff I had with me. THEN this afternoon another department in our company sent over a big box of mixed mini chocolate bars and all kinds of choco goodies... I passed it on by!

Then went out to dinner with a friend... and ordered my chicken and asparagus/plain potato etc. AND my friend always orders meatloaf that comes with yummy french fried onion rings on top and as usual he told me I was getting them. I immediately said NO thanks so he told them to hold them!

But here I am drinking my homemade (carefully controlled ingredients) mocha latte, with half of my chicken dinner safely tucked into the refrigerator... and LOL on the way home my friend kept groaning about how he was so stuffed and had eaten too much. LOL I could not resist saying, "I'm NOT." <GGGG>

Time to crawl off to bed and turn on Internet radio!!! I made it. Oh and I lost a pound today!!! Yay

I absolutely love you dance! Having the willpower to be in charge of your food intake is a fantastic thing.

where in the world do you work at that they have that much junk food around all the time??? i would so have to quit if my job if we had free junk food all the time. i only have temptation once a month when we do a monthly breakfast or luncheon. you seem to have it all the time. you poor thing. but yay that you resisted. i'm sooooo proud of you.

i'm going to have to work harder to be more like you. you are awesome!!!!

on a good note, i did get in my one hour cardio class yesterday. it felt soooo good to be there.

Believe me, I am not amazing... just determined. And I am the type who has to stick with it because if I mess up one day that will just make it harder for me the next day... if I eat junk once I will want it all the time.

LOL Lumi... my best friend always tells me the same thing about my work place! I pay myself .50 for my cruise fund for every treat I pass up... and I could get rich just passing up food at work. I work for a biotech lab and it is a really fun place to work. The Friday treats thing is... every Friday the company pays for treats. There are around 100 people in our "branch" and we are divided into teams of 14 or so people. Each week one group plans and prepares the treats... each person using $10 which is reimbursed. Then at 10 AM everyone gathers in the lunchroom for "Friday treats" where the employees pass around a "Player of the Week" award. Then we have treats at staff meetings... and there are areas in the lunchroom and each deparment etc. where people can put out free goodies so someone is always bringing in something. And birthday treats for everyone of course. But believe it or not it is a VERY hardworking, diligent place... we HAVE to be since we are FDA regulated, etc., and they are very diligent about that. Just have fun too.

I really learned a lot about control of food, etc., from a Bible study tape series from a church I used to attend in Fort Lauderdale... it was a three-message series called "Slaying your Goliaths" -- and it is about taking control over addictions and issues -- i.e. giants -- in our lives. It is sooooooo funny and yet helpful. I still go back and am reminded of it and in fact I think I will go and listen right now! LOL

that is sooo good that your work tries to make it fun. i work in a radio station and you'd think we would be having fun all the time, but not so. not until i talked to my boss about it and we got alittle fun stuff planned. like monthly birthdays breakfast or luncheons going. this month was luncheon and our General Manager bought all the hamburgers and hotdogs and buns and a gas grill to grill out for us yesterday. it was soooooo much fun. we got outside in the sunshine and ate at the picnic table. it was beautiful. but after eating, i couldn't wait to get to the gym to get my food moving on out. i ate a little to much. i'll try harder next month to just pick one healthy thing to eat for breakfast and not think i have to sample everything that people brought. you are still an inspiration dance and i hope to remember you next time we have our monthly meeting.

We have a constant supply of rubbish at work too, it's so hard. And I work for a company whose slogan is "the health and care people" I hate the free bacon sandwiches, chocolate, crisps and cake, it really annoys me. My old department used to supply free fruit for me, but my new department hasn't been as helpful. I think it's because they never saw me at my fattest and have no idea what I have actually done to lose the weight. Sigh.

Well done Dance!

Oh, my goodness, Dance, you're an inspiration! You must have felt like you were under siege, but you held out and won the victory. I'm so proud of you!

Thanks for the encouraging words!

Kykaree I am fortunate as there are a lot of health minded people at my work... LOL we ARE a medical facility! So usually at our treats or staff meetings there is fruit and stuff as well as the junk. But at treats it usually goes really fast.

Margarita, thanks for your kind words. LOL I can't take credit for being an inspiration though! When I start depending on myself I mess up badly! I have to look to God for my inspiration and source... if I get my focus back on myself I end up looking like I do NOW LOL!!!

You go Dance,
You are my inspiration. Congratulations on slaying your Goliaths. As with any tape series we not only have to listen to them, but do what they say. Looks like you're on your way. I am so proud of you for your courage in times of temptations. Way to go.

Denise

LOL Denise for sure! Listening is the easy part... doing it takes some commitment.

You hang in too! Glad to see you are on your way!
