I've lost five cats!

It's starting to sink in that I've lost over 30 lbs. I just realized I've lost the equivalent of about 5 cats! :yikes:

Here are my two babies, Teddy & Tommy who weigh around 7 lbs. each. What have you lost? A sack of potatoes, a bag of flour? Please share, this will be fun!

That's wonderful! Keep on losing those cats;). I suppose I've lost almost five myself:lol:.

HarpoChicoGroucho 01-24-2006 07:50 PM

My cat weighs 13 pounds. I lost almost 8 of him.

And 4 bags of his cat litter!!! It's crazy; I couldn't even lift that now. I can't believe at one time I was carrying it around on my body.

penpal 01-24-2006 08:08 PM

Wowee! I had a mental picture of you lugging all those cats (not to mention the cat litter) around on your body

You must feel great to have lost so much weight - good for you! :carrot:

P.S. Your cat is about twice the size of my skinny minnies!

Scrappy Chick 01-24-2006 09:38 PM

I have lost 2 bags of sugar and 3 blocks of cheese. WOW! I never really thought about it in that way before. Thanks for shifting my perspective!

Keep up the good work everyone!

Sara

I've lost a couple of bags of 20 pound cat litter! I tried picking one up and carrying it around the other day to see how it felt!

Your cats are cute!

HarpoChicoGroucho 01-24-2006 10:42 PM

Thanks penpal, it does feel pretty great. Yes, my cat is a tub of lard! I tried putting him on diet cat food at one point, but he didn't lose any weight.

Shannonxo 01-24-2006 10:48 PM

I agree with you, HarpoChicoGroucho! My cat is extremelyx10 large. He weighs about twenty pounds or so, and finds pure enjoyment in lounging and eating. He only gets up just to eat or go to the bathroom, but yet the vet has given him a clean bill of health-- thankgooseness for that, of course.

penpal 01-24-2006 11:31 PM

I'd love to have a big ol' cat - I guess some breeds are bigger than others (or, like people, some just eat more!). I love my tiny guys tho.

Next time I'm at the store I'm going to line up 3x 10 lb. bags of potatoes and lift them up. I hope I don't put my back out!

Penpal your cats are wieners! I had a ginger tom who weighed 14lbs! A whole stone! I've lost 4 Busters! And one tiny Poppy (who weighs about 5lbs) she was the runt! Let's see if I can get some photos up here!

She's like a little ball with stumpy legs that stick out at odd angles, not very aerodynamic!

I don't have any digi pics of Buster, since he ran away from home before I got my digital camera

Yoyonomore 01-25-2006 11:01 AM

Congrats you guys! What a fun thread!

I've lost 2 bags of sugar and 2 bags of flour. (Mostly by not eating them, lol!)

Wow! 4 Busters and a Poppy. Is that you in the pic with your cute kitty?

Looks like you've lost 2 big bags of sugar already :carrot:

crk05 01-25-2006 01:04 PM

Congratulations! That is great! :cheer:

So far I have lost 16 pounds. That is equivalent to 1 1/7 Tiggers. Tiger is my 14-lb cat. He is a BIG BOY. Also, I could say I've lost 1/5 of a Patrick. Patrick is my parents' 90-lb Labrador retriever.

NowOrNever! 01-25-2006 01:04 PM

I have 4 cats and I've maybe lost the equivalent of them all (they vary from about 7 pounds to 13 pounds). They would be exceptionally SQUIRMY though!

I laughed at the cat reference though because I generally think of my weight loss in terms of the cat LITTER--I buy 30 pound containers from Costco and I HATE carrying it into the house. It hit me one day that I'd lost about that much and holy cow! When you pick up something like that and realize that that much weight was on MY body ALL the time--no wonder my feet constantly hurt!

I'm working on a box of Pine Mountain Logs now :) I bought one earlier this week and could barely lift it into the basket--it's 9 6-pound logs for a box total of 54 pounds. I have a ways to go to that, but these kinds of concrete things really help (me at least) realize just how far I HAVE come!

cagirlygirl 01-25-2006 01:12 PM

This is such a fun thread - thanks, Penny!! :D

I've lost one giant bag of Iams doggie kibble. 5 more pounds and I will have lost one Chloe. She's a black lab and border collie mix - the world's greatest dog, and the consumer of the previously mentioned kibble. ;)

Good grief, I've also lost a medium-sized kindergartener!

What else? I wanna read more!

cheers! :hat:

Hi Ladies ~

I hope you don't mind me dropping in and saying what I've lost !! I have had such fun reading this post and seeing what you all have said !!

I've lost 1 1/2 Toy Miniature Schnauzers, like my Maizy who weighs 10 lbs !!
Wish I had a pic to post but i dont here at work !

CONGRATS to you all !! :carrot:

crk05 01-25-2006 03:23 PM

This is a great thread! Congratulations to all of you! Losing a cat, a dog, a kindergartener, a bag of sugar, a bag of dog food, or a carton of litter (boy do I hate toting those around Target!) is a great accomplishment!

Christie22ra 01-25-2006 04:34 PM

No cats....

Wow! Everyone is doing great!!
My cats names are Shamis & Tucker. I adopted them from the MSPCA when they were about 9 weeks old (They are 2yrs old now). They are brothers that love to snuggle as you can see! They are more like man-beasts!! Weighing about 15lbs each!!!
I've lost 8lbs, but no cats yet!! LOL AWESOME thread! I love cats!!

NowOrNever! 01-25-2006 05:13 PM

Oh Christie, I *LOVE* your boys :) That appears to be a laundry basket? With a pair of BLACK pants in it? I have to get dressed with everything EXCEPT my pants in the morning and I throw them on just before I head out the door--even if I don't hold a cat or sit on anything, hair just seems to naturally get sucked onto black pants :)

Alison, sorry to but into your thread but if I did not know better I would say Shamis the cat on the left was my Joey.

That's actually Tucker (guess I wrote the names backwards-whoops :dizzy: ) I can't believe how much they look alike!! They really could be twins! Tucker does that all the time too! I have tons of pictures of him doing that! LOL! When I tell him "you're so cute" he automatically starts doing that. I call it his "I think I'm cute" pose!!;)

NoworNever-I actually live in the house of hair! anything or anyone that comes into our apartment is automatically covered! they LOVE to lay on stuff that is black!! I gave up trying to get the hair off my black peacoat, b/c it just wasn't worth it anymore!! I still love them though!

English_teacha 01-25-2006 07:48 PM

Let's see...I've lost about 2 10 lb. bags of potatoes, minus 2 or 3 potatoes. I'm at 17 pounds lost so far. In 2 more pounds, I'll match the weight on my driver's license (which I lied about in the first place!).

I can't get my kitty to cooperate to see what her weight is. I think she's around 10 pounds, too, so I guess I lost 2 kitties, too! She looks like your cats, Christie! Maybe they're distant cousins!

PhatPhoenix 01-25-2006 07:48 PM

I got some new scales yesterday so tried them out weighing my sons.

I was shocked to see I have lost in pounds precisely what one of my toddlers weighs! I can't imagine carrying him round all day!

penpal 01-26-2006 12:43 PM

Thanks, everyone, for making this such a fun thread! :D

I just thought of another (less cute) way of expressing how much I've lost -

33 lbs. of this:

upswife 01-26-2006 01:42 PM

I've lost a 1yo child...Not literally of course :dancer:

peacemonger 01-26-2006 04:39 PM

I've lost a childrens-sized bowling ball! And, that is the most darling picture I have ever seen. Awww, I love kitties. Way to go!

penpal 01-26-2006 06:07 PM

A bowling ball - you must be glad you're not carrying that around any more!

I'm glad you like the photo of my kitties - they are spoilt little darlings who wouldn't hurt a mouse :mouse:

NinaV 01-26-2006 07:21 PM

What a great idea for a thread, way to go!!!
I've lost either 3 bags of potatoes (the 5-lb bags) or an adult size bowling ball. Either way, this puts a totally different spin on things, because I wouldn't want to lug around either one of those all the time.

Congrats to everybody on the great work :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

artsy 01-26-2006 08:39 PM

Congratulations everyone!! I've lost a cat myself....hopefully more on Sunday (my weigh in).

NowOrNever! 01-26-2006 09:09 PM

8 pounds....that's a pretty good sized ham or roast too! :)

penpal 01-27-2006 08:05 PM

Well, I did try to lift 3 sacks of potatoes at the store, but just couldn't manage it (I was afraid to put my back out again). When fat is spread over our bodies, we don't realize what a drag it is to lug it around everywhere. (My feet are thanking me!)

Miaka 01-27-2006 09:14 PM

When I first started to loss weight, I feel I am not losing fast enough. When I lost 10lb, I still feel like it is such a small amount. One day I was at the grocery store and picked up a 10lb bag of potatoes and I thought to my self that I use to be like carrying that sack of potato around. It was definitely a great motivator.

SherryA 01-29-2006 08:39 AM

well in total I've lost about 6 bags of sugar. But since December last month I've lost 3 bags of sugar and a block or two of cheese.

HappyWife 01-29-2006 10:19 AM

Sigh....

:halfempty I know how it is....

TBJ333 01-29-2006 04:11 PM

15 law school case books! :p Holy God, I hated carrying those things around. One semester, I even had to use a wheely-backpack, because the books were so heavy.

Man, I used to carry all that on my body. (Now it's in my brain. :p )

At this point, I weigh less than my two dogs put together. :D

penpal 01-29-2006 05:23 PM

Books - now that's something different - congratulations! I guess I've lost a good-sized paperback (1 lb.) in the last week!

HappyWife 01-29-2006 06:01 PM

Hmmmmm

I've lost 10 bags of sugar. UGH! :( And 13 more bags of sugar and a pound of butter to go!

Tayja 01-29-2006 06:32 PM
