Default The Little Things

I love those success stories, they are so fun and motivational.

What are the little daily things in your lives that make losing weight (or motivation to lose weight) a huge acomplishment?

I have only lost 20 of the 50+ pounds I want to lose, but already, there are so many little things that I can notice already.

This is dumb, but it drives me crazy not being able to cross my legs. About 20 pounds ago, it was uncomfortable to sit for very long with my legs being crossed, but now, I can sit comfortably and my top leg sits down farther. (If that makes any sense.) And, I can now sit in my college tables and desks and be able to cross my legs under them.

Being able to sit in movie seat chairs more comfortably. It was never too bad before, but now, I have a couple of inches on either side of me.

My pantyhose fit sooo much better. I hate it so much when they constantly slide down all day and before long, I start to waddle like a duck, then I would have to go to the bathroom and pull them up. Now, they stay on comfortably all day long.

Being able to wrap a towel around me a couple inches further.

Not having to shop in the plus size department!!!! Well, not being able to anymore for that matter. For the longest time, I was at this uncomfortable stage right between the smallest size of the plus size and the largest of the "normal" clothes. And I love not being embarrassed for asking the size I need at clothing stores. I used to go up and like whisper to ask if they had a size 16 or 18. Now, I have no problem yelling across the store for an 11/12.

Not getting those lines around my ankles from wearing socks all day. I hated that, having those little skin impressions of the elastic stuff in socks for an hour after I took my them off.

Needing to have my rings re-sized.

Going up those 2 extra notches in my favorite belts.

*Being able to sit in an airline seat and not annoy the person next to me by spilling into theirs, and not having to ask for a seatbelt extension.

*Wearing a caftan over my swimsuit on holiday and swanning around the resort, not feeling like I needed to put trousers over my legs!

*Being able to swim in size 14 swimsuit instead of a size 22!!!

*buying new clothes coz the old ones fall off!

*Having a choice of 20 clothing stores instead of three

*the best reward is feeling better, breathing easier, moving easier that's what really matters (but wearing a ball gown and people gasping at how good I look counts for something too)

*Having LOADS more energy than before! Like getting up at 8:30am and doing all the chores before 2pm and still having the energy to go out tonight

*That people think I'm a "nice" person rather than a "fat" person to be tolerated! Sad but true!

You know how whenever the season changes you dig out all your clothes from 6 months ago, cross your fingers, and hope they still fit?

Well, what I LOVE about losing weight is that all of my winter stuff is now LOOSE because I've lost probably 20 lbs since February. So instead of pulling everything out of boxes and thinking "PLEASE fit," I had a blast trying everything on and seeing how BIG it all is.

I agree with the crossing legs comfortably!!! I sit like that all the time NOW!!!

Also, we only have a tub in our main bathroom (no shower) so I always take baths...well my hips when sitting have 2-3 inches EACH on the sides, where before I touched the sides on both sides...THAT FEELS GREAT!!!

MY Skinny Jeans are TOOOOOOO big!!!

I love *KNOWING* people dont see you as FAT anymore, just NORMAL (even though I have 20lbs to go)

I love having enough room in the chair that my 3 year old can crawl up and cuddle up next to me to watch tv

and that I completely fit with room to spare in my husbands arms

and being treated better. You're definitely treated better by everyone wether they realize it or not....

I was never really that huge before (I only lost four pounds), but I have been getting compliments from all my old teachers and family members! Plus, half my jeans don't fit me anymore, and I have more variety in clothes!

Yay! What a fun thread --

I love that last weekend I wore a sleeveless dress to a party for the first time since 6th grade. Come to think of it, it was also backless and low cut... And it looked great!

At my company holiday party last night my friend's husband, who I haven't seen in over a year, didn't recognize me. At all.

I had to go buy a new pair of jeans (size 10) this week because mine were falling off.

What else y'all got? I wanna hear more!

cheers!

I loved getting on the scale this morning and it resting on 174!!!! I love that I am afraid that my wedding rings are going to fall off at any minute!!!!! I love the fact that everytime I get something out of my closet to put on it looks terrible because it is too big instead of too small. I love that when I tilt my head back to look at the sky, I don't feel a big fat roll!!! I love being able to wear normal sizes... I love people asking me how I did it!!!

I managed to dance for 3 hours (including can-can-ing down the street) in high heels that a couple of years ago I couldn't walk more than 10 minutes in!

Also loving the fact that can-can-ing down the street people think I'm just merry rather than laughing at me 'cos a fat girl's can-can-ing!

I can think of *so many* of these, but here's a few

Taking up less than a full seat on the bus instead of a seat and a half.
Hiking for hours without my feet or legs tiring (a huge change from the girl with heel spurs who couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes)

I had one of those moments today actually. I was looking for a strapless bra to wear with the dress I bought for New Years Eve. I didn't have any luck at 2 department stores so my husband talked me into trying Victorias Secret. I couldn't find anything there at first either, but when the sales girl came up to help me. Instead of waving her off, I told her what I needed. I let her measure me and help me into this long line low back number that was exactly what I needed. Before I would have been far too self conscious to let somebody help me (not to mention the fact that they wouldn't have had my size anyway)

And let me tell you, Yay! for properly fitting foundation garments. My girls have been through a lot and it's so amazing to have a bra that gives me cleavage again It really is the little things that make you happy

My wedding/engagement rings fitting comfortably instead of cutting off my circulation by the end of the day!

My running shorts having room to spare around my thighs rather than pretending to be spandex and clinging and riding up!

Great thread!!

I love that I have energy left at the end of the day. Before I'd be ready to shut down right after supper.

I love shopping for regular sizes(so many more stores to choose from). At this moment I'm in my size 10 jeans and loving every minute of it.

I love being smaller than my dh. First time in our 9 year marriage.

I love weighing 25lbs less than it says on my driver's. Can't wait to get it renewed now. lol

I love that I'm more outgoing now. I've always been outgoing but kept it under wraps because of how big I was and people do seem to treat me better but that could just be because I'm more open now.

Shaving isn't such a chore now except for my pits because of the mini cave I have there now. lol

Wow, the little things are great arn't they. For me it was a huge deal the first time I looked down at my chest and did't see my belly sticking out past my boobs.
I love to cross my legs, 40 pounds makes a huge difference.
I love going through my clothes and throwing out all my "fat" stuff, I am going to have a garage sale in the spring and be rid of it forever.
I weigh less than my husband for so long I was so much heavier than him.
Most importantly my confidence level has gone way up, and I don't get depressed nearly as much as I used to. I can't wait to get the rest of this weight off.

You know what I was just thinking about the weighing less than my hubby thing a few days ago!!! He is pretty average and weighs 180 so it took me a long while to get below him and it does feel great!!!
