Okay, just had to share this...

  • This morning, I got up and couldn't decide what to wear to work. It's Friday, I'm the only one in the office, and I can dress as casual as I want. So I kept an old pair of khakis folded in the top of my closet, from my daughter's high school days. They're still in good shape, and the last time I went thru old clothes for donation, I grabbed them, thinking it would be good motivation. So I thought "What the heck", and tried them on. And here I sit, wearing these pants!! I think they're size 9!! AND, when I got on the scale this morning, it said 146! ONE POUND FROM MY ORIGINAL GOAL!! AND, at my measurement Wednesday at Curves, I've lost 8 inches from last month! No fad diets, no expensive diet plans, just cutting down on my fat, my portions, and calories. Tracking my food intake, choosing wisely, incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables, exercising, and most importantly, NOT BEING RESTRICTIVE. I've been determined not to turn this into a mind game, "Oh if I eat this BAD food, it's all over with" or "I must lose 50 lbs in 2 months or I'm a failure". Of course, it's day to day, because I've never maintained a weight loss before, and I'm 40 years old. But I do truly feel that my life has reached a turning point, and everything is better than it's ever been!
  • Congratulations!

I'm in a similar boat myself, in how I lose weight and in clothes. We have a local clothing store that buys or trades your clothes (ie. my fatpants) for new smaller ones (someone ELSE's fat pants). I'm in that store every month trading down and/or looking to expand my current selection in whatever my size is. Maybe you have something like that in your area.

You should be so proud of yourself for what you've been able to do. I know I am!
  • lele-
That's great. Way to go. Hearing that is very motivating. You've come a long way (looking at your tracker).
I have a pair of pants I want to get into. They're only one size smaller, but I'm trying to take small steps. I don't like that feeling of being restricted either.
    Keep up the good work.
  • Congrats on the size 9's!!!!! What a wonderful feeling that must be!
  • That's wonderful! I'm glad you shared this! Can't wait until that day comes for me.
  • Wow, congrats! You are definitely an inspiration!
  • Wow!! Size 9, that rocks!!! Way to go!!! Congratulations!!!
  • That's wonderful! It sounds like you have a very healthy approach to the whole diet/exercise thing. Healthy, whole foods, exercise and a relaxed approach is so sound.
