I haven't been a member here very long, but I felt the need this morning to share why (IMO) 3FC ITSELF is one of the biggest success stories of all. I found this site the way a lot of us probably did. I was bored and annoyed with myself and feeling unmotivated in my whole weight loss trek. I think I Googled "overweight people before and after photos" or something similar because I needed
some kind of inspiration. And I ended up here. Lurking at first (I'm actually a fairly shy person
)-- and doing alot of reading. And more reading. And before I knew it, I'd been reading for 2 hours. In those 2 hours, I laughed, I sighed, and I said "YES!! That's me!" about 10 times. So, I am just thrilled beyond words that I've found all of you. And I wanted to share some reasons why I think 3FC is a Success Story in itself.
1. Many of us have found we are *brave enough* to post our high weights, current weights, and goal weights online. Stop and think about that for a second. How many *real* people in your life actually KNOW your highest or current weight? Personally, other than all you wonderful 3FCs out there, only ONE other human on earth knows my high weight -- and that's my personal trainer. But here on 3FC, most of us do it proudly with our groovy little weight trackers. I think that is a HUGE step for everyone.
2. This is a TRUE community. And we're all in it together. I've NEVER been part of a community of people who understood my weight loss issues. Never. It was always my little cross to bear, and I'd think myself in circles trying to figure out what was "right," what was "wrong," and how the heck I was ever going to do this all on my own. Phew. Little did I know,
I didn't HAVE to do it alone!
3. 3FC has taught me a new phrase.
"Weight Loss Journey." This is big stuff, because -- although I'm ashamed
to admit it -- I was "dieting" before I found 3FC. I was thinking, "I'll just make it to 140, then everything will be great!!!" But one of the billions of things I've learned from everyone here is...this is a looooooooooong trip. And it ain't endin' when I hit 140. So, I'd like to say a special little "thanks" to the Maintainer folks...who are AWESOME. I think everyone should cruise around their threads for a bit to get some very helpful tips and insights.
So, thank you, 3 Fat Chicks....and I mean the REAL, ACTUAL 3 fat chicks who created this site and have fostered the community that *lives* here now.
