changing my mind

  • hi!! im just doing this for me, i hope nobody minds!!!

i have been doing my "change of lifestyle" for about 2-3 months now,
and have lost 17.5 pounds which is good,
but this isnt about the lost weight,
for the first time i actually feel IN CONTROL of me!!
it is like some thing in my head is different now!!
i feel that i REALLY am going to lose this weight, instead of just wishing that i could.
i now enjoy exercising, and chose the healthier options in food!!
one of the BEST things that is changing is my facitation with chocolate, this week when i went shopping i brought the 1.5 ounce chocky instead of the 14.5 ounce block that i would usually buy!!
i still think i need chocolate, but i can be satisfied with a couple of bites instead of a couple of blocks!!! (in the 3 years since my daughter was born i have grown from 105 pounds to 240 pounds mainly thanks to about 4 pounds of chocolate every week, often more.)
i have also started to learn that im not really hungry all the time!!
and i can tell the difference between thinking i am, and actually being hungry!!

i know that i am going to find that slim girl again soon!!!

so this post is mainly to thank me for changing my mind and changing my habits!!

sorry to take up every ones time, i just needed to do this in public!!!

    cheers!!

    Hayley
  • First, let me congratulate you on your change in lifestyle!
I can't stress enough the importance of changing bad habits to lose weight. I didn't really follow a strict plan...I just changed the way I viewed food and exercise. Although, lately I've been falling off the wagon. I'm trying hard to get back on, though!
I'm a chocolate fan too! It's a real problem, because I can never be satisfied with just one bite. So, I avoid it altogether.
At any rate, I just wanted to be the first to applaude you and wish you the best of luck!!!
  • I LOVE chocolate too (Honestly though, who doesnt? hehe)

I have found that if i get dark chocolate, the 70%+ cocoa variety that Lindt makes that it satisfies the chocie craving but because it's so rich i can only eat a very small amount. Usually only one square (about 10gms) with a coffee. Highly recommended!

Congrats on taking control of your life

I didnt follow a plan either, my "health kick" was much like yours: A total over-haul of the way i live/think. Losing weight was really just a happy consequence, it's all the other benefits, like being able to run to just appreciating the beauty of life, that have really made it all worth it.

    Keep up the great work!

  • I hardly ever have chocolate anymore. I've substituted my bag of miniature carmel Twix that I could eat in two sittings with a bag of apples. LOL! But there've been a few times I just wanted that chocolate taste again. So I buy a bag of sugar free mini chocolate Reeses cups or something, take one or two and dump the rest in the public candy dish at work.
  • Congratulations Hayley,

  • I didn't really diet either, just a health change, so I know where you are coming from, and congrats! (I say this with a bag of pretzels on my bed at 10:30 at night...eek!) It's amazing what a little self control can do. Like stopping any bad habit, you have to be ready to change, and once you are, it's amazing what happens.
  • No time was taken away from me--and hey, this post is WORTH IT.

I think the greatest thing about lifestyle changes is learning how to 'read' your body. IT's the greatest feeling in the world to know yourself so intimately that you know what triggers certain feelings/behaviors and you know how to avoid them or change them.

    WONDERFUL JOB!
