Default 6 month totals are in!

On April 10, 6 months ago, I started to focus totally on losing weight and decided I would do everything I could to make it happen. I had no idea how it would turn out or even if it would work. Well, here's what happened in the time since then...

start weight = 335 lb
current weight = 215
weight loss = 120
total days = 184 (0.65 lb/day!!!)
hours of intense aerobic exercise = 304 (that's 1.7hrs/day!!!)
days i was bad = 16

To me, being bad was a day that I skipped exercise (due to broken machine, soreness, etc) or ate what I felt was more than I needed to, even if only a little bit.

I am happy with the result, but I did fall short of my goal of being under 200 by this point. And, I still have another 73 pounds to lose and things are definitely slowing down. I am working out harder and sticking to my diet even better than at the beginning but averaging only around 0.5 lb/day weight loss over the last few weeks or so.

A couple things that I've learned in these 6 months. Never eat at night! Never ever! And always do your exercise, as hard as you can... I can't tell you how many times I had a 'headache' or didn't really want to get off my couch and log an hour, but I made myself. And you know what? I don't remember the inconvenience of overcoming my mental resistance to doing it at all. All I remember is that I cranked out another hour and the weight that is gone. So, the bottom line is what matters, no excuses!

Congratulations! Thats awesome! The battle is tough but it sounds as if you totally have the right mentality to making it! Dont give up no matter what and continue to give it 100%! A lady once told me when i asked her how did she make it through the holidays and not gain, she actually was losing, she told me that she was in control, she wasnt letting food control her,she was so right. Again CONGRATS

Giovanni, that is a TREMENDOUS amount of weight to lose in such a short time!! What type exercises do you do and what type of menus do you eat??? I'm happy with a couple of pounds a WEEK...I cant imagine almost a lb a day! I exercise almost everyday now from 30 min to an hour but at my starting weight of 242, I couldnt physically keep up 1.7 hrs a day. I thought I'd die working out 15 min.

Miki-

I do d a lot of swimming, sometimes water polo, and sometimes Nordic Track. Whatever works my arms and legs at the same time and gets me out of breath. I am really hardcore about it, it was so hard at the beginning, but once you get your "lungs" it is a great feeling to be going full steam and really pushing yourself. All the barriers are mental only, your body is capable of so much output you would be amazed. I don't listen to the 'take it easy' camp on exercise, because I think it artificially limits what you are truly capable of.

Thank you both for the congratulations, I can't believe how much better and different I feel and I'm not even there yet!

Just an update, I am now under 200lb FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVEN YEARS! Excuse my shouting but I've got to tell someone. The scale loves me lately, 199 even. Thanks again for the interest and support, now only 57 pounds to go...

ps - don't you just love the feeling of clicking the big weight marker down a 50-pound increment? If you have one of those professional medical scales, you'll know what I mean!
