Default South Beach is For Me

Hello Keri Ann-

I tried the Atkins a couple years ago and zippo...nothing...fatty taste in my mouth all the time.

I started SB 5 weeks ago and I DO NOT CRAVE CHOCOLATE! YEAAAAA!

Ok, now that I've calmed down...I will be honest that the de-toxing from refined sugar was not hard...it's just that I didn't feel good for the first week. I was so hyped up on sugar that after 4-5 days without it, I felt like I hit rock bottom. Then I started taking a multi-vitamin and I feel WONDERFUL!!!

I decided 5 weeks ago that I was miserable in my body and I needed to make a lifestyle change which I have been praying for for quite some time. I planned ahead...bought the 3 books I needed...went through the cookbook and went to the grocery store. It is pricey to start but eventually, I will no longer have anything white or refined in my cupboards. I even like spinach spagetti. I've lost 12 lbs (I weigh in again on Friday) to date and I cook religously from the SB cookbook. It feels sooooo good to not want what everyone else is eating in front of you. Gives you a sense of control and a "one up."

I believe that the best part is knowing that I am eating healthy and don't have to worry about portions...just cook healthy to eat healthy.

I wish you the best in your decision and you may pm me anytime if you wold like talk.

I don't necessarily think any plan is better than another in a broad sense. It's more about finding what works for you. I spent several months researching different plans and decided to go with Atkins based on my own tastes, addictions, and lifestyle. I've had great success with it (almost 70 pounds in 10 months).

I think that when it comes down to it, the basic lesson is the same across the board. Stay away from refined products and processed foods, get the right nutrition, be smart about your portion control, exercise, and make changes that you can maintain for your whole life.

Whichever plan you can find that will help you acheive that is the right one for you.

I think StarPrincess hit the nail on the head. You need to find a program that works for you! One that you can stick with. And stay away from the processed foods, drink lots of water, and exercise as always is very important!

I'm not sure what's best but StarPrincess took the words right out of my mouth. I don't want to have to give up anything. So if I do portion control and certain foods in moderation I'm just fine. Well thats whats worked for me in the past. Counting calories, simple and it works.
