The Easter Rattie

  • Just wanted to share this cute little poem with you ladies. Happy Easter to everyone. (No offense to all the lovely little easter bunnies out there)

There was a rat, a snow-white rat who thought it mighty funny
That lovely treats of egg-shaped treats were hidden by a bunny

"Bunnies don't like eggs" he cried. "All they do is hop around,
And if a bunny tried to carry eggs they'd end up on the ground."

"But a rattie guy like me," he said (his name by the way is Pip),
Has eight pink fingers and big rat feet, so for sure I wouldn't trip."

So Pip the Rat put on his vest and favorite Easter shoes,
Took out his brushes and his paints in lovely rainbow hues

He painted eggs in "Rat Tail Pink" and georgeous "Rat Eye Blue"
And made delicious chocolate rats, each little child gets two.

Then Pip the Rat put on his Easter hat (it is his pride and joy),
And set off bringing Easter treats to every girl and boy.

Come Easter morn, the city kids, and all from surrounding towns,
Went looking for their Easter eggs, searching up and down,

And in abundance, Easter eggs so colorful and sweet
And chocolate rats with little hats and great big rattie feet.

The town folks were enraptured by little Pip the Rat.
He rode through town to cheers of joy, waving his little purple hat.

Now the town folks all decided, no arguing with that,
Flop-eared bunnies just won't do, from now on it's the Easter Rat.

The vote, it was unanimous, of all rats he's the best
To hold the title Easter Rat, little Pip in his hat and vest!

  • Cute story!

Here's to Pip the Easter Rattie !!!
  • Too cute! Thanks for sharing it!
  • That was darling!

I saw the cutest ratties and meeces at Petco the other day...two meece were in the exercise wheel...one was running and the other one was holding on for dear life as he went around and around while clinging to the wheel. Two ratties were asleep in the nearby enclosure...they were soooo sweet.

Hope your ratties had a wonderdul easter, Pear!
  • That is cute !
  • I'm glad you gals like it. I just thought it was cute and especially because rats are not often portrayed in such a positive fashion...they're usually the evil diseased varmin'. My two "snow-white" rats in particular liked the poem. Then they fought all day over who was the easter rattie in our house.

How is you're bunny doing, beachgal?
  • Thanks for asking, Pear!

LOL about your snow-whites arguing. I bet they'd make a great Easter Rattie tag team!

Denali seems just about the same. The vet did x-rays and bloodwork and everything came out normal, so unless we see some distinct signs that things are going worse, we'll just keep observing and hoping for the best. The odd thing is that after being with us for almost 5 years and seeing our vet at least once every year, it turns out that Denali is a girl! I was shocked!!! The vet just figured it out...thinks that 'Nali was spayed, but can't be sure as he can't see a scar. I hope she is...unspayed bunnies tend to die from uterine cancer...usually by age 3. She's going to be six in July...so I hope she's okay.

Thanks for asking, though. We're both trying hard to get used to having two little girlbuns!
  • LOL, what a shock! I hope she wasn't too offended all these years being called a boy. That can be harsh on a gals ego, you know! I'll keep sending good vibes Denali's way so that "SHE" makes a full recovery. :vibes:
