  • Good evening to all. First off, I would like to say how thrilled I am to have found this site. I am starting SouthBeach "officially" and entirely tomorrow, 01/23/06.

Background on myself - I am 23 years old, 5'0, and 200lbs. In HS, I was under the illusion that I could eat whatever I wanted forever and not pack it on to my then 125lb frame - silly me! A year and a half ago I was a comfortable 140-ish weight, then I met my fiance and the late night trips to Denny's after class (11:00PM) several times a week finally caught up to me. 60lbs gained in such a short period of time is really kind of scary, especially since I ended up in the hospital recently.

So, again, I'm glad I found this place. I will definitely be popping in and sharing with everyone. What an inspirational place!

  • Welcome!!!! Lots of great support and advice on this board.

  • Good luck. I've found the diet quite easy to follow. After religiously following it for more than two weeks, I find I don't crave Cheetos and Dr Pepper practically at all (except for last night, when I was up late doing work and would use scarf down a bag and bottle. But I didn't).

We are the same height, you and I. I find the hardest part of being short is that there's much less chance of hiding weight gain. Anyway, best of luck to you.

  • !
  • SunLit ~ Agggh, I know all about Cheetos cravings. A lot of the time when I got involved in a difficult project at my lab, I'd go down to the vending machine and get a bag (one of those bags that has like 2.5 servings at 200+ calories a serving ) Those were the BEST when I was trying to get stuff done. Luckily being on the beach has helped me a lot with those cravings!
  • They are the one food I would actually call my own personal brain food. Whenever I had a paper due in college and since then, in my professional life, whenver a deadline was looming, those remarkably tasty and horrifyingly hued snacks were my lifeline. *Sigh* WERE was never such a sad word.

But it's true, I don't particularly feel any need to eat them right now and that's nice.

  • Glad you're here!

I'm 23, too, and I totally know what it's like to gain quickly after highschool. I can't really expain it but it happens and it's not fair but you're at the right place.
Good luck to ya! I'm cheering for you!
  • Thanks all of you!! It's nice to hear words of encouragement. Doing this online is way easier for me, especially since my friends at home haven't gone through this. HAHA, this is what I get for living in Texas' fittest city.
  • Hi Bright & Shiny.

WELCOME! You will find tons of support here on this web site! Ask anything you want and someone(s) will come up with answers for you!. Good Luck!
