Angry Cheated this morning - start over?

Hi everyone -

Both of my children are home sick today, both are uncomfortable and therefore difficult to get along with - and I ate a cookie!

What now? Do I just start over or just continue on (I was still in Phase 1).

1 cookie? I say put it behind you. Or why not stay on phase 1 an extra day?

Take it from a chickie who has been 'starting over' since Jan 2nd...The great gals in this forum put it very simple for me. If you think that cookie was enough to 'retox' your sugar cravings - start over. Somehow I doubt it did anything but make you feel guilty, so why give back all that Phase 1 ground you have gained. I say mark it on your dont do again list and move on

How far into Phase 1 were you when you ate the cookie?

I started Jan 10, so I am on day 8 and this was my first cheat - but it was a big cookie.

I'm with the others... chalk it up to experience and move on. Good luck with the sick kids! Hope everyone is better soon.

By day 8 you are probably really pretty much detoxed anyway - I'd just move on. If you find it causes a "snowball" effect, then just do phase 1 again for a few days to kick that problem. That's the great thing about SBD - you can hop back and forth between phases to address your dietary needs at the moment!

You stopped at one cookie? I'd count that as a success! Don't let it get you down, if you didn't go back and finish off the pack when the kids finally got distracted enough for you to do anything. Yeah, you ate 1 cookie and stopped. Count it as your sweet treat for today and get rid of the cookies! Or put them way up on the top shelf that you have to get a step stool to get to. Out of sight-out of mind.

It's not a cheat, it's an improperly planned indulgance.

But seriously, if you feel cravings coming back and do want to eat everything in sight, then it might be useful to stay on phase 1 for a few extra days, but if it didn't set off any cravings you'll be ok.

I agree with Sarahyu. If you stopped at just one, I would call that a success.

I hope you continued on program for the rest of the day. One slip during the day doesn't blow the whole day. You're doing fine. Trust me...this won't be the first time you'll slip during a day. You just need to learn that it's over and done and life goes on. You made your choice and only you can decide how you are going to handle it. Throw in the towel because of one cookie? or look at the bigger picture and continue on.

Yep! I agree! Just eating one cookie is a huge victory. That shows that P1 has paid off since you were able to stop at one. Good job! Now just don't eat anymore and move on!
