Cool Is there room on The Beach for one more chick?

Hey everyone! After looking down at the scale and seeing the numbers read as much as they did when I about to give birth to my daughter, I decided it was time to do something.

I've been on the 3FC boards for awhile--just call me The Yo-Yo. Back and forth, back and forth. I've done calorie counting and it's just not for me. I could never cut out carbs completely, so I've decided maybe SBD is for me?

I ordered myself the book as a refresher course as well as the new cookbook (thanks for the heads up about some of the editing errors -- this is all a new Beach Girl needs -- more obstacles! LOL)

Anyway, just a tad about me -- I will be turning 30 this year and live in SE GA with my husband of 9 years, my 8 yr old son and my 4 yr old daughter. I currently homeschool my children, so cannot jet off to a gym on a whim (hey, that rhymes!). Instead, I've gotten a Pilate's video that a friend told me she loved and I found a Billy Blanks tape at the store the other day a $1 (my s/n isn't FrugalChick for nothin'!). I just love Billy and have had tremendous success with his tapes (I just gotta do them -- there is that pesky little fine print...don'tcha just hate it?). The kids will want to work out with Mom, I'm sure. I figure my daughter can stretch and do Pilate's with me and my son will work Tae Bo with me. In each case, I have a partner (very persistent partners who do not take no for answer...there! One excuse down the drain).

In addition to these tapes, I have a few Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds. These are quite enjoyable and lovely alternative to walking during Thunder Storms. DH says they are awkward and not at all natural...but they get my blood pumping.

This time around, I want a strong, functioning diet that will lead into a lifestyle change as well as enough variety in my workouts that I won't get bored. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to kill myself by doing everything every day (who has the time for that?!?!), but hopefully by adding cardio and toning exercises, I can rid my body of any lose fat that might develop (or decrease it drastically).

Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. A little nutty..not always 'all there'...and the Queen of Tangents (you've been warned).

Glad to be here and can't wait to get to know all of ya'll

Welcome to the Beach! I have an 8 year old son too. If you haven't been working out, be careful of starting in phase 1. Many people find they do not have as much energy as normal (especially if they are not eating their beans and drinking their milk) and they can get discouraged. Start slowly and ramp it up in phase 2. We can always use some more company on the Beach.

Did I mention welcome?
I am in Savannah. So if you ever get this way, lets do a SB lunch.
We are the about the same age. I will turn 30 in March. See my bday goal?
Lucky you with the kids and exercise. My ds wont sit still long enough for pilates. lol

All the chicks run on tangents from time to time, so you will fit right in.

Glad you joined us.

Thanks for the welcome! My bday is in June...so you're just a *bit* older than me, Wenchy. I'm actually looking foward to turning 30. I always thought that when you reached 30, you were a grown up. Weird kid-thinking, I suppose.

Thanks for the heads up about Phase I. DH will be joining me...hopefully it's something he can stick with. Since moving up to managment, he doesn't get as much exercise as he did and his waistline is expanding once again.

Thanks again

back. I too have been back and forth but I remember you. Good luck to both of us this time in making SBD our new lifestyle.

Plenty of room on the beach so grab a towel and join in. Lots of cute cabana boys too!

Default Welcome

This is the place to be! You sound like a busy mom, like the rest of us. It sounds like you have a good plan of attack. I love SB, I've done sooo many other diets and this one is so managable for me..........well, after I get over my detox headaches from so much sugar and the holidays (bad girl). Anyway you'll love it here.

Hey Frugal Chick,

I am also turning 30 this year (March to be exact) and I am determined to start my 30's a lot healthier than how I spent my 20's. I too love Tae Bo (but, I too have trouble actually doing it...lol) and I also have WATP. So, we have some things in common. I started the beach two years ago and lost 45 pounds...but I am back...45 pounds and then some heavier. SO...this is a renewed time for me here. Glad to meet you!

Oh, but I love the cabana boys! I need someone to fan me! LOL

Welcome, frugalmom. I am back after an absense as well. I am 28 (29 in April) and my daughter just turned one. Since I can no longer use "I just had a baby" as an excuse for being fat, I figured I had better do something. LOL!

Wow hat's off for the home-schoolin' -- my kids to go different schools and so today was the first day in like 6 weeks that I didn't have one or the other home, man it felt sooo good just to be by myself a couple of hours!!

I also have returned to pregnancy weight, except not pregnant, that bummed me out huge. Today is my first day as a SBer. I've been so busy that I might have not eaten enough (didn't have lunch) but besides that have been good...wasn't really that hungry anyhow but as I understand it you are supposed to be keeping your blood sugar constant so, you have to eat a bit every 3 or 4 hours, will be more organized tomorrow...

GOOD LUCK TO ONE AND ALL!

PS, I wish all the newbies as wonderful a first day as I had -- I truly loved everything I ate and no headache or anything else I have read about, just easy! I hope I have 13 more days like this one and manage to lose some weight or something....!!
