Can someone explain why cool whip is allowed in phase 1? I am eating it, and still losing weight, but it doesn't make senes...it has high fructose corn syrup in it. Anyone know?
The current phase 1 food list in the FAQ lists light or fat-free whipped topping under sweet treats; Cool-Whip brand light and fat-free (both, if I remember rightly) have high-fructose corn syrup. I assume it's permitted since the total amount per day is limited to 2 tbsp, which would be a pretty minute amount of HFCS. That's just my guess, though. There are some things in the food lists which don't really make sense to me, and usually no one seems to be able to explain them to me, either. I just go along with it unless my common sense demands otherwise.
I totally agree that there is stuff that doesn't make sense! Maybe Dr A was feeling sorry for us and snuck in little treats!
Anyhow, we'll go nuts if we obsess over small things like this.
