Question Starting Tomorrow- How Can I Make It Past the First Craving

Okay, this will be my upteenth time trying SB after failing miserably the first few times. I need to drop 20 pds and I want to have at least 10-15 gone by Christmas. Each time I have tried SB I have given into cravings and just threw it all out the window and gone back to WW. I think WW gives me way too much freedom to eat whatever and I can't control myself. Any suggestions on how to stay OP will be great!

TIA!

Patzgirl, think about why you give in to the cravings and what triggers those behaviors. Set yourself up for success by making sure those events and items won't be around you.

For instance, get all the non-op food out of your house. Don't keep money in your purse if you usually visit fast food restaurants. Make plans to do Phase 1 when you don't have to go to parties, etc. Avoid restaurants until Phase 2. Get your family/friends rallied around you and helping you stay on track. Make sure you eat good carbs, like beans, tomatoes, and bell peppers, so you don't crave as much. Drink tons of water to stay hydrated and to reduce the feeling of hunger.

You can do this if you put your mind to it. With so little to lose, though, it's going to take a while. Don't set yourself up to feel like a failure by making unreachable goals. I'd think 10-15 pounds by Christmas is really over the top unless you've been eating tons of sugar and carbs. Even then, it's going to be really slow.

Good luck and know that we're here to support you!

I don't know if it will help or not, but for me (and my mother, too, as far as that goes), I just kept telling myself that it's just 2 weeks, I can put up with almost anything for 2 weeks. I just took it one day at a time, and by the end of the 2 weeks, I didn't even want the things I craved anymore.
