Default Today Show segment

I was just watching the Today Show and, by golly, they actually used a nice variety of plus sized models for their fall fashion segment!!! It wasn't just a few sized 12 to 14 models which they have been bad about in the past. There were 4 women af very different sizes. Way to go Today Show! In the past they have not done so well. I watched a plus sized fashion show recently where the women were all sized 12 or below-- or at least that's how they looked. No boobies on them and not a huge butt in the crowd. Now that's realistic .

Good for them! Maybe they'll start a reality trend for so-called plus-sized models!

I've even noticed it in some magazines lately too. I'm a size 16-ish right now and I'm one of the skinnier girls at work! The world is just not a size 2 anymore and I think advertising is starting to realize this. It's about dang time.

That's great, Sweet Tea!

What I'd like to see is models who are fit, not super skinny. I'd like our kids to idealize Mia Hamm and Serena Williams, not Kate Moss and Lindsey Lohan/Paris Hilton/Hillary Duff. How great would it be if we idolized strong, fit, healthy women instead of women who have every rib showing and appear too frail to walk?

That said, you are so right...I'm having a really hard time connecting how fat I still feel (there's still a big roll of fat on my stomach even though I'm 20 pounds from goal) with how skinny I am compared to others. I have a friend who has always been what I consider skinny...not scary skinny like the aforementioned chicks, but healthy/skinny. I saw her yesterday and I look thinner than she does! That was just weird for me!

I *so* don't know how to be the "skinny one". Do any of you freak out about this?
