*HELP! Going to Corky's for dinner

  • It's my son's 17th birthday and he wants to go to his favorite restaurant - Corky's for barbeque. Now, I don't eat beef or pork, so that's not my problem...I usually get the pulled bbq chicken sandwich, but I went to their site and they have a Grilled BBQ Chicken Salad - do you think that will mess me up on Phase 1? Hope not, otherwise, guess I'll just have a house salad and see if they can just grill the chicken plain...guess I should stay away from the baked beans? Sorry, but I'm still learning and kinda confused about some SBD 'rules'.

    Thanks in advance!

p.s. It's my very first post.....
  • Welcome to 3FC If there is any bbq sauce on the chicken, then it will be loaded with sugar. Do they offer plain smoked chicken without sauce? That would probably work. I can't find the menu on their website, just their online ordering for mail order foods. And darn, they look good

I would suggest calling ahead and asking them if you can get chicken without the sauce.
  • Welcome to The Beach, Fullmoon.
Yes, calling ahead is a good idea. Suzanne is right - BBQ sauces are loaded with crud!
This Forum's FAQ section has lots of information about this plan and the chicks are very helpful and supportive.
Be sure to come back and tell us how the dinner went!
  • Suzanne & Ruth - thanks so much for responding! I was in such a panic...but we've already been and it was no big deal! I ordered the pulled chicken salad and it was ok SBD-wise because the chicken had no sauce on it - I asked to have the chicken plain. I had dressing on the side and it was a big ol' salad, so plenty of veggies! Of course, my favorite drink of all time WATER, so all-in-all - I did good.

Thanks again - sorry for being such a spaz earlier! Have a great evening!

  • I'm glad it went well. Did you give your kid a big birthday kiss and make him blush?
