Good morning. You'd think The Girls would want to sleep in on the last day of a holiday weekend but they are kicking up a major fuss. I swear they know when I log on!
You'd think *I* would sleep in ONE day of the holiday weekend, but NO, I have to be up before the birds even start chirping.
My sleep pattern got all goofed up b/c dh had to work yesterday evening into early this morning. He came home about 4 hours ago. I'm under orders to wake him 'before noon'. He may have to go back to that same job today for a few more hours. No complaints--fat paychecks! Yeah!
I successfully loafed the day away yesterday. The most ambitious thing I did was make dinner for dh before he left for work. I also went out and bought a pair of bamboo knitting needles. After that, I watched TV, watched movies, and then fell asleep. That's what I call a truly lazy day.
Barb, that's wonderful that your city is opening shelters for the newly homeless. It just breaks my heart to think of what they're going through...
Mamacita, sounds like a lovely, lazy day.
Ruth, hugs for you and the girls.
DH and I made a bunch of freezer meals yesterday. Today I'm doing more laundry and tidying. Damn this big house!! It's too big, and we have too much STUFF!! And my kids are PIGS!!!
Going to get coffee...
I'm back and they're back! Damned mice have returned so the trapline's been set. I hate to do it because they are cute but refuse to have critters in my kitchen - critters that I didn't choose, I mean! The Girls can stay.
Mamacita, disrupted sleep patterns are so damned hard to correct. I am finally managing to sleep later than 5!
Ellis, three words - THROW STUFF OUT! I've been doing that a lot and it's very liberating. Actually most of it is going to worthy causes. Do the kidlets have job lists? It worked for me - and you know my kids turned out OK. Actually they are both neat freaks!
It's a cool and glorious day and I'm well underway on my Labour Day labours! Sheets are on the line and my list is made. This afternoon I'll work in some front porch time and watch the summer people exodus. The Village loves the money in the summer but it's kind of nice to get the peace and quiet back after this weekend.
Have a wonderful Labour Day or Labourless Day - your choice!
Morning girls!! I have been going to lots of cook outs this weekend. Actually have 2 more to go to today!! I am also taking the day off tomorrow, to spend with my littlest one. She will start Kindergarten on Wednesday. So, we will spend a day as big girls together. Hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day, and try not to Labor too much!! lol!!
Mornin' chicks! Well, yesterday was my mountain hiking day. I went to my sites that were located up a mountain. Got a good workout in. I mustered up the courage to get on the scale this morning and I haven't gained anything so that's a good sign. Plus I'm all swollen like a balloon from PMS and my hike yesterday. Why is it that anytime I exert myself the next day I swell up? I drank so much water yesterday that last night I was peeing every 1/2 hour.
Tonight I'm going to try this saffron "rice" recipe and the Bombay Sole from the cookbook. Is there any end to the healthy substitutions you can do with cauliflower ! I also found this recipe that looks like an alternative to the legendary taco bake. I may try it soon and post it if it's good.
Mamacita: So sorry about your lack of sleep. I couldn't sleep until 3:30 am and woke at 7:15 this morning. I'm sure I'll be loading up on the caffeine and water today. Congrats on your lazy day! Don't you just love those !!
Ruth: That's too bad about the puppies. Oh well, maybe next go round. I'm sure they will be the luckiest little portugese water babies in the world.
Ellis: I agree with Ruth! Throw stuff out!!! I am a firm believer that too much "stuff" is not good for the soul...unless you happen to be an ultra martha stewart on speed type organizing machine . Clutter makes me jittery, anxious, and just generally miserable. Have a lovely day!!
Ellis During my last couple months of pregnancy my mom would come over and help me clean. We got rid of TONS of stuff and it did feel wonderful. The majority of it she took to a women's shelter, so I felt even better.
Mama Good for you on your day of laziness. We all deserve days like that!
Ruth I bet it is lovely to see the tourists depart. Enjoy your day and don't labor too much!
Pear Can I come for dinner? That sounds tasty!!
KyeMom How are you feeling about your DD starting kindergarten? My almost 4 year old is so funny when she talks about it. (She has a Nov birthday so won't go for 2 more years) She has no idea what it is, but thinks she is so ready to go. She keeps seeing the "big" kids from her preschool leave every spring to go to this magical place called "kindergarten".
Barb Working at home twice a week sounds like a great idea. I am curious to see if we have many kids enroll when we get back on Tuesday. This week is the 5th grade camping trip to Oklahoma, so there will only be about 30 kids left at school. Anyone that enrolls will think they hit the jackpot school b/c the kids that don't go have "Camp Thomas" and it is all fun activities. I am not going to OK this year as my baby girl is still so little. Hopefully it will be a fun week. Even if it isn't I can enjoy no papers to grade and not much prep work for the week!
Schatzi Our flower bed is a disgrace! I need to get motivated to do some gardening myself!
Me- Survived a picnic lunch with friends and dinner at the in-laws OP. Came home and ate popcorn with DD and a handful of chips. How stupid is that?? Make it through the social events that should be difficult... Oh well, a new day!! We are chilling close to home in an effort to not spend money or waste gas. Fine by me as DH is home again.
Kiko- I am really ok with it. My DS is going into the 3rd grade, so he will be able to walk her to class, and be there if she needs him. I have never been a SAHM, so I am used to taking her to daycare everyday....so I am guessing it will be the same thing..except she will now have homework. Also, she has the same techer that DS had, so i am very comfortable with that!!! (Until Wednesday, when I might lose it for a few minutes)
Wow it's been a while since I last checked in here....been pretty busy....just working a lot...I had a job interview about a week ago...but I didn't get the job...so I'm kinda bummed out about that...just means I need to keep looking and applying....I just got back from vacation...it was so nice we went to Nags Head....So now my family and I are just waiting for Oct. 8th....the day my older brother gets married...so I've been maintaining my weight so I can fit into my bridesmaid dress...it's such a pretty dress...doesn't look like your typical bridesmaid dress which makes me happy lol....It looks like everyone here is doing a great job!!! I've missed you guys...I need to check in here more often....I don't wanna fall off the bandwagon!

Have to get that carving under control, or my ticker will move up again. Sorry for Whinning.
Manacita-Good Luck, I remember those day when My DH worked the grave shift and I had to keep a baby quite, barking dog quite, and it wasn't easy.
Ellis- Have a great day,you shouldn't work on Labor Day. Let the kids pick up after them self.
Ruth-Ughhhhhhhhhh!! Is it time again for critters in the house???????????I had them in my Kitchen also and Yikes have to get the traps ready again. Wish you the best to get rid of them.
Kyemom-your right children come first and you'll be happy not eatting things that don't fit the SB.
Pearshape- Big congrats on your exercising & scale not showing a gain. I know water water It gets you to pee alot. But that the only way to wash out those baddy in your body. We have Otis Military opening for the poor Katrina victims on Wednesday.

Hey, you need to close the tags in your signature. Just put "" before your ticker code. signatureafter "Weight Loss: 90lbs since May" . Holler if you need help and I'll do it.
Good morning everyone!!
I am working all weekend...it stinks, but at least I don't have to worry about going to parties & being tempted.
Ruth...I don't like mice either....especially in my kitchen!
Ellis - dear throw stuff out. My mother NEVER threw anything out. She has catalogs from 1998!!! Now I have to clean this stuff up. I agree with Ruth - it's is liberating!!
Beach Bum - Hope the scale gods are kind to you.
Pear- have fun in the lab today
Mamacita - I'm trying some of your tips...drinking the warm water now. Your day sounds lovely!! Plan on having one of those myself on Thursday!
Everyone else - have a safe & OP holiday!!
HiDeeeHo All!
Was out and about early this morn.. and now having some Mamacita SuperSoup for lunch with a slice of sourdough...Ok, I'm officially crashing this afternoon.. Going out on the deck in my bathing suit and read.
BB: You can whine anytime here dear!
Soon 2bfab: don't work tooooo hard..
HistoryChick: Welcome back! Losing 90 pounds and maintaining it? BRAVO GIRL!
Ellis: We all agree...GET RID OF the "junque" ... give it away! You'll feel better and in control!
Ruth: GRRR hate them meeses to pieces! Cute as they are... hate mouse poop more!
Pearsy: I'm always looking for what to do with cauliflower!
Kyemom: Awwww that sounds like a wonderful memory in the making! Enjoy your time with your wee one.
KIKO: I so enjoy being out in the dirt... Now is the time to prune and groom!
Soon2BFab -- 1998? My Grandma Doe had your mom beat, we had to clean out stuff from the 80s!
The funeral went ok, some family dynamics issues there that will likely take me awhile to get over. I didn't stop to think that I was coming back home after the stores closed last night and that grocery stores aren't open today so Phase One is put off. Also, I ended up with my signature chest cold after the stress decreases and my cold medicine has sugar in it so it would be better to wait until I'm feeling a bit better anyway.
I did not use food to cope while away, so I'm pleased with that. I did eat crap, but it was because I was out with girl friends and really wanted to eat it and not because I was avoiding feelings. That in and of itself was a victory for me.
Glad to see everyone is well and enjoying their Labour Day (yes I am Canadian). Have a great day and thanks for all the support you give. It is SO appreciated!!
