Default Vinegar/weight loss and IR (worth reading)

I am on a ton of boards and one of my PCOS/Diabetes board had a thread on how 2 tablespoons of vinegar a day (some did before every meal) was supposed to help with insulin resistantance and most of the girls who did it lost weight and didnt feel hungry. Most use Braggs ACV (apple cider vinegar). Below is some more info but thought I would share. I tried this yesterday and felt fuller and my mil swears by vinegar and honey water nightly.

Dr A actually recommends an oil and vinegar dressing to help slow down the sugars in the SBD book, IIRC. I think its in the part about eating out he mentions a couple of methods of slowing down - fats being the other. He advises if you MUST eat bread when you dine at a restaurant, to use a little butter with it to slow it down.

I hope this is clear, I'm really struggling with my ADD today, have been for a couple of weeks which is one reason I'm not posting here so often!

I wonder if this could be why I seem to lose weight when I eat a three bean salad with my meals. I do love the taste of vinegar but I can't imagine trying to eat it straight!

He also mentions in the book how Sourdough bread is better for you if eating out because of the acidicness in it... slowing down the digestion of carbs. Very interesting article. It's almost worth trying a couple tablespoons before each meal. Can't hurt you! Vinegar is sooooo healing in other ways too!

Whenever I am in the mood for a salad, I usually only have vinegar (balsamic usually) and can drink it straight. I don't need the oil to make it a "dressing".

This is good information to have. My grandmother died of Diabetes (refused to see a doctor!) and I always worry and like to read about it and stay informed.

Jenn- I use balsamic and a bunch of girls asked if we could do that instead but its only ACV. I have been drinking it straight and then having some either with my salad or cucumbers and I have not been as hungry. Not sure of the weight loss as its only been a day but the girls have lost a good amount of weight from strictly doing the ACV and nothing else. Seems like Braggs has the best benefits and thats what I have been using.
