Default Sugar hangover!

Hi everyone! I'm on week 3 of the SBD and I've had wonderful success so far. Yesterday at work, we had a wedding shower for one of our co-workers. It included a pot-luck of snacks and desserts, and of course a wonderful cake! I decided that I would take the day off from the diet and indulge myself. I didn't go completely overboard, but for the rest of the day, I felt ill. This morning, I still feel like I'm hungover! I told my friends, that if I had known that I would feel like this, I would have drank something last night! I never realized that sugar could cause this kind of a reaction in a person. I'm so happy to be back on program today! Anyone else experience something like this?

Isn't it wonderful to see your body has adapted? Now it will take so much less to satisfiy a sweet tooth and we become snobs about what types of sugar we put into our bodies.

Oh, absolutely! It's kind of nice to see that your body will "reject" stuff like that once it becomes used to a lesser amount of sugar.

It is also scary and brings home to you, just how toxic sugar can be for some of us.

I agree with all of you about how scary the whole thing can be. I can certainly say that it will be along time before I do something like that again. Going through this diet has made me very aware of my body and how it reacts to foods. I also have my husband on it. He suffers from colitis, and since he hasn't been eating all the carbs, his condition has also improved. Amazing the horrible things we put into our bodies without really being aware of it.

Absolutely, Diane. Everytime I eat sugar...the more I eat, the more sick I get. It's a reminder that we shouldn't be eating it...it really does make us sick. If you ignore it and stay OP, it should go away. Just don't forget how it feels so the next time you indulge, you can remember that it's rarerly worth it.

Yes.. I get the hangover as well...shocking stuff. But great in the long run to be able to identify what some foods can do to your body.

Wink sugar headache

I'm afraid that I have suffered through this too many times. For some reason I keep forgetting how bad it hurts until I'm down with it. I think it feels worse than a hangover. I am slowly learning that it doesn't pay to go through this anymore. Now if I could only convince my dh to get off of the sugar. He thinks he can't live without it.
