Default Help me not get discouraged re: scale this morning!

I started on Tues. at 168. Despite my better judgement, I've been weighing in each morning...just as a gauge, not as an official weight, that will come on Tues. But, I was down 2 lbs. in two days - so it was very encouraging to me and keeping me on the right path. Well, I couldn't help but sneak on again Fri. and was down two more pounds! 4 pounds in 4 days, basically. I was delighted. Well, today, I am back up 2 lbs.!! Had I not been weighing in daily I would be ok - I mean a net loss of 2 lbs. is still good for 4 days...but I'm left wondering where I went wrong yesterday to cause that. Bloated? (I didn't drink much water yesterday at all.) Constipated? (Sorry TMI - does anyone else on P1 have this problem?) Too many pistachios? (We were on a mini-road trip yesterday and they were my car snack, I honestly lost count.) Too much fat? (I had a Cobb salad at a restaurant - likely w/ full fat bacon and cheese - although not a ton of it.) Ricotta dessert? (I tried it last night for the 1st time, I thought it was so-so, and left me feeling pretty heavy. I think I'm sticking w/ SF Jello again for awhile.)

I know I'm being over analytical, b/c I'm still down and that's good...I just had my bubble burst a bit. I'm going to be very strick w/ myself today and hopefully undo tha damage!

Hi Ginny!

I'm a retread on the SBD, and I've only just started my second day, but I admit to being a scale junky - so, weighing yourself as often as you do (me too) - can result in seeing a temporary gain- you're doing great ... just keep on keeping on )koko) and the #s will come off.

I find the ricotta desssert a bit on the heabvy side too - so wny bother eating something you don't even like? Did you have dressing on the side with the cobb salad?

Don't be too strict w/yourself, just stay within the parameters of what's on the list for Phase 1 -number pf nuts on the list, for example.

I'm sure you'lll be fine!

Enjoy your SF Jello and don't forget to drink your H2O.

It's so important to drink all of your water!! It flushes out your system and if you ate nuts, bacon and regular cheese yesterday some of the weight may be water weight as you ate things with a lot of salt!!
It is hard, but so worth it!!!

If you didn't drink enough water then you are probably retaining water. Constipation is very common - especially in phase 1. I take Metamucil daily even though I eat lots of veggies. Some people even need a stool softener in phase 1. Don't be afraid to take either products. I normally weigh daily too and I always weigh the most on Mondays. That's why my weigh in day is Wednesdays.

Wow Barb, really? You weigh in the most on Wed? how interesting.

I always weigh in every day but the official day is Sat. morning (nekked, after going to the bathroom and exhaling). Never thought there might be a better day!

I am not a scale ho... I find that the normal daily ups and downs really effect my mood. So I too Weigh in on Wednesdays. I found that if I don't drink all my water, I'm up a pound from the last WI, so I drink all-and then some more water and reweigh on Thursday... I've been between 175-177 for 2 weeks now, but sticking to the plan..

I think you have gotten a lot of good advice. I am gonna repeat how important the water is! In fact, maybe I will take my own advice!

I am a scale hound myself, so I know what you are experiencing, but you can't let a couple of negative scale readings get to you. Your weight can go up and down a little during the week. Try to keep focused on that "Weekly Weigh In". That's the one that counts! I'm sure you will see progress.

Schatzi... Scale Ho?.. Ha! That's funny! I'm definately a Scale Ho. I was told by someone in WW to weigh in once a week and then put my scale way under my bed where I can't easily reach it.

I'm a total scale Junky i weigh about every other day if I moved it I'd end up moving it back. My dh weighs in the am and pm and asks me things like why do I weigh more at night where does the food go (in his stomach) I file that under men are funny

lol too funny!! I had to respond to this!! I am also a scale ho and love to weigh each morning...but something funny is happening in my body on South Beach...I wont move for a week or week and 1/2 and then all of a sudden I lose a pound or two...I like it...don't get me wrong...but I am not usually like this...
