Anyone Experiencing a Plateau?

  • If anyone is experiencing a stall/plateau, just hang in there and the scale will eventually move down. For 3.5 weeks after I started P2 I did not lose a single ounce . I became very discouraged but each day I decided that I would give it another day and finally, after 25 days of losing nothing, I've all at once dropped 5 pounds . Hang in there and stick with the program and your body will eventually let go of the weight when it's ready to!
  • Anyone know why this happens?
    Congrats on your loss GetN
  • We gain and lose in steps. We didn't gain weight without several plateaus and it comes off the same way. Your body needs to do a re-org. By the way, I read somewhere that a plateau or stall is 8 to 12 weeks. Relax - it'll go.
  • yay awesome work!
  • Feels good doesn't it GettinFit. And OK what is with the 5 pounds thing. It seems that every time I plateau then when I do lose it is 5 pounds. Go figure?!?! Our bodies definetly have a mind of the own.
  • Since I've only started this Monday, I can't say I'm at a plateau, but I did get my period on Tuesday and the scale hasn't budged....a little discouraging, especially because I've been exercizing like crazy.

  • I did 3 weeks on Ph1 and I'm stuck at a 5 pound loss I'm not complaining and I have seen differences in my body but I think adding back some fruit might shake me up in a good way
  • That stall is why I slipped. I got discouraged and am now up 5 pounds people. HANG IN THERE. It's not worth it!!!
  • Hang in there everyone. I'm in week 2 of phase 1. I lost 10 lbs. week 1. I know it won't always come off that quick. I need to hang in there though so I can reach my goal.
  • Thank you for the encouragment in this post. I feel like I'm in the same boat right now...but I do feel better and have more energy. I will keep on going.
  • Yes do hang in there. I know it may be tough to do when the scale isn't going down but the pounds will eventually come off. During the time that I wasn't losing anything, I would try on a top that was too small and even though the scale wasn't moving, the top fit about a week ago so I knew something positive was happening even if the numbers on the scale didn't change.
  • I'm glad to hear that eventually it will come off!! I just barely made my July goal and thankfully set my August goal at 5 pounds, cant wait for the morning when I step on the scale and am down 5 pounds in 1 shot!!

I think wine is my downfall, I read somewhere that you can have 2 glasses per day but that they should only be 3-4 ounces each... ...well, mine are 8 ounces each and I usually have 2!!! I generally dont eat many SF items so I am hoping that the fact that I consume twice the amount of wine wont effect me to much in the weight loss!!! Kind of like a trade off hopefully it works!!!
  • 3!girls - I would worry about the calories of so much wine. Remember we only consume 75 calories of SF items.

I have had quite a few plateaus - some for 5 or 6 weeks at a time - but I do usually lose inches during that time. I think the body does have to adjust as we lose. I didn't usually drop 5 pounds at the end of each plateau though so don't get fixed on that number and let yourself get disappointed.
  • 2 8 ounce glasses of wine is 318 calories! Calories do count. Maybe you can cut it to one glass and use it to make spritzers to cut the calories in half?
  • Thats a great idea Ruth, I hadnt thought of that !! I should also say that I dont have 2 glasses everyday (I would like to ) but refrain!! I do like spritzers though and have added club soda to my grocery list!! I think maybe Monday I will go a week without any wine and see if I notice any changes.
