Smile First day on SOUTH BEACH

I am so excited to finally be on this diet...I spent most of last week reading the boards and the book in order to prepare for this week. I sure hope this works....I have about 80+ lbs to lose. Is is normal to feel afraid that you will fail and the weight won't come off? I am scared this will all be a waste of time and it won't work. I am hypothyroid but I am medicated so I hope my condition doesn't hamper my weight loss. Here is my menu so far today....

Breakfast....2 cups coffee with splenda
1/2 cup 1% milk
egg beaters southwestern style (about equal to 2 eggs) cooked in olive oil pam
2 pieces turkey bacon
small can of V8 juice

water

Snack: piece of LF string cheese

Lunch...

salad (mixed greens with 4 grape tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, and NEwmans balsamic vinegarette dressing and a little bit of chicken grilled with ms dash)
and SF jello

For Dinner I am planning on having some type of fish and steamed broccoli

How does my day sound to you experienced SBeachers? WOuld love some feedback..

Debbie

Debbie,

Sounds good to me. The only thing I would say is that it sounds very "diety". Make sense to anyone else?

Have some fun with your meal plan. You want to add a snack in mid-afternoon. Nuts, Peanut Butter, red peppers and hummus, something good. You're going to need it. I toss a yogurt cup to my mom in the afternoon because I know she's jonesing for sweet.

Get creative. Check out the recipe boards here at 3FC and also try:

Go a little crazy, have a little fun. Don't make it feel like a diet!

Welcome, Blessed! (great name!) You'll find that the week of prep will really pay off!

Check out the sticky in this forum on eating veggies. You need to have more nutritious choices. I'm not sure what's in the egg beaters southwestern style...is everything OP? Add some veggies to that omelet to make it more nutritious and more filling with less fat. The V-8 is a great substitute for juice if you are one that is used to that in the morning, but it doesn't fill you up at all. Use spinach or spring mix in your salad, and add cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, radishes, etc. to up the nutrition and fiber content. Eat veggies during your snacks for the same reasons, and include food with acceptable good carbs, like beans, peppers, and tomatoes. It'll help with the Phase 1 detox headache.

I agree with Adia, make this more fun for you! There is great OP food out there and you don't want to be frustrated and ready to quit in a day because you are tired of salads. Definitely check out our recipe forums...you'll find tons of great things! My Phase 1 favorites are Taco Bake, Stuffed Chicken Breasts, White Chili, Almond-Dijon Chicken, and the Peanut Butter Cup.
