  • Candace---I remember those monthly wits and hopes of being pregnant. Hang in there. You know it can happen, it has before. Just this time it will be all the way!!!

Monica--My Jeff is also the excitable political follower. All he seems to watch anymore. I am happy I am working tonight and don't have to listen to him-HA. Although I really doubt we even know by the time I get home in the morning.

Laurie--you go with all that exercise. I bet you feel like a million bucks compared to before SBD.

Lilwolf---I understand where you are coming from. But it is not too late, I think you can register at some polls. Go 'head...go for it...but only if you vote ---LMAO
Just kidding. It really is a heated battle this year and I hate when people talk politics so I will STOP..

    Off to vote........
  • Lilwolf, you are not ignorant just because you don't know a lot about politics. Most of us don't! But it doesn't take much to read up on the candidates and what they think, then make your own decision. You don't have to tell anyone what you think, and that avoids all confrontation. My parents don't even tell each other whom they voted for! Seriously, if you think you can find the time to check out the candidates' info (you can find tons just by googling their names), try using a provisional ballot at any polling place near you (often a school or church). You vote however you want, but don't let ignorant a$$es keep you from exercising your rights (and responsibilities) as an American!

As to getting your body and heart used to losing...it just takes time! Spend some time in front of the mirror! Measure yourself...try on clothes in smaller sizes, and learn to talk to yourself in a loving "voice". You can do this...and be happy, too!
  • Anchor - I did watch the Swan. I'm totally addicted to the plastic surgery shows. It was absolutely amazing how she turned out. Don't worry too much about the excess skin. They said it happened from rapid dramatic weight loss. I'm working out and taking it slow but I'd be totally open to having a tummy tuck and new boobs someday.

Beach Gal - thanks for the encouragement. I know I will do this.
  • Give me a break with censoring my post. Sad is the day a person can not even mention a candidate's name...now that is true ignorance. I wish you all well, this will be my final post on this forum.
  • Gee, Jane, I censored the name because we are not supposed to be political in here. Sorry you were offended. Just doing my job!
  • Jane, I'm sorry you were bothered by the censorship...but there was a post at the top of the forums for months stating that you should keep your political views private to avoid inflammatory topics. I'm sorry if you missed that, but I know I've seen it elsewhere...at work, with friends and their works, etc.

The truth is, in a race as tight as this one, people can become very upset over just the mention of another candidate's name. Especially when you tell them that they ought to vote for one candidate or the other.

Jane, I hope you do come back, but know that we cannot be made to feel guilty for protecting the safe and nuturing environment of this forum by censoring statements from time to time. Okay?
  • Oh, heck, yes! Ruth knows that if anyone DARES to advocate a certain someone who shall remain nameless, Ellis becomes some raging, foaming-at-the-mouth fanatic!
No politics, please. Let's all help to keep my blood pressure at a reasonable level.
Lilwolfe, you are NOT ignorant. Stand your ground, sweetie!
  • Well it has been an eventful day! Lilwolfe I used to not vote myself but after I had kids and such I realized I needed to lead by example. (duh-huh on me!) I just look at what each canidate stands for and go with the one that is for what I believe not who is a R or D. Don't let other people try to scare you into or away from something.
I really hate it that Jane has left! I do agree we should not use names in here because I feel it can be very offensive to politic followers. I know I don't think anybody but the one I voted for should be Pres.! teehee The polls! Oh my I stood in line for 1.5 hours! Not to bad but I thought I might get right in and out after the morning rush but so did about half the peeps in line! haha There had already been like over 700 people through there and it was about 10:45 when I finally got ot vote. I was glad to see the turn out! Ok ladies have a great evening I'll be glued to the tv I'm sure!
  • oh well
Amy- I wanted to address the skin issue. I was 400 pounds and lost almost 200 in a little over a year after WLS. I have some skin issues but nothing really serious. With your starting weight, and losing it slower you should be fine. I have some extra belly, breast and arm skin but don't feel it is bad enough to have plastic surgery (unless someone else paid for it of course ) Just keep up the toning exercise and the slow weight loss and I will be surprised if you have any issues. I mean we all get the saggy breasts with age and having babies anyway!

I agree that we should not feel bad about the censoring. I don't come on here for political discussion. If I want that I can find a forum for it. This is my diet support group. I am sorry that Jane was offended so easily, but it is just for that reason that we need the censoring.

I went to bible study and then had some errands and by the time I was on my way home at around 1:30, I was STARVING!! I didn't want to hit a fast food joint, so I went to the store and got some turkey breast and cheese. I paid the same for that as I would have a hamburger and fries at a fast food place, plus I have enough for a few more meals. I guess sometimes this diet is cheaper!!!

Anywho, hope you all have a wonderful evening. I am trying a Tarragon Chicken recipe tonight. Hope it turns out yummy!!
  • New to the Beach
Starting the very first post is so hard.... anyway- Hi. My name is Cheri. I discovered this web site totally by accident about three years ago. Periodically, I would check in and read posts....read information about the hot new diets.. but never participate. That would have admitted I have a weight problem. Then three weeks ago, someone mentioned the South Beach diet.. and I impressed them by surfing over to 3fatchicks.com for all of the information. But I've continued to peak in because I'm impressed. You women are incredible. What you have accomplished here is very unique...and you're doing it in a nurturing, non-competetive spirit.

This is the first "lifestyle" eating plan that 1. Made nutritional sense to me...and 2. Look at your results..... I want to be a part of this. So... I'm 53, single, have one daughter who's 23 and living on the East Coast, and like so many...looked up one day to discover I'm 40 pounds overweight...and other than age and stress...have nothing else to blame it on. So.. I bought the book...and have been eating on the beach since October 23.

If I post this or my signature wrong... Just tell me how to fix it.
So..Is there room for another beach umbrella? The water looks fine....
  • Lots of room for another umbrella! Welcome to The Beach!

There are some good instructions re tickers in the Help Forum under the following thread:
