Talking newbie with question!

Hello everyone-- My name is Sally, I am nearly 47! argh- (next week)- I have been on the beach since early July- and have lost nearly 40 lbs--( be content with another 40 to 60--) and Hubby has even joined and has lost 20-- we have a whole new life now-- kids are both to college-- and I am loving it! anyway--- onto my question! I love to surf the net for new SB appropriate food to add to our "eating vocabulary" and am enjoying cooking again!
the new food I want to get the okay or feedback from a SB "so-called" expert-- is this-- CHANA DAL--( query online and read all about it!) anyway-- it is a tiny little legume- from India- a "baby garbanzo"- some say -- it is VERY low on the glycemic index-- hardly an 8-- ( whatever that means exactly) and very hi in Protein-- ( lots of vegetarians eat is as protein source) -- but gosh the carb count seems high to me-- but if it is the lowest thing practically on the glycemic index does that make it okay? I would love some feed back-before I incorporate it too much!
