What clothes are in your goal image?

In the past I had dreamt of getting into a bikini, but at 42 and after years of weight and 2 pregnancies, I'm not even considering that these days. :faint:

Jeans are my new goal. To look good and feel comfortable in jeans with a shirt tucked in. Also, a sleeveless shirt for summer.

What clothing goals do you guys have?

ellis 09-10-2004 09:14 PM

I'm with you, Heidi. I wear jeans now, but I've got a mound of fat hanging over the waistband. I'd like to wear jeans without worrying about the wind pressing my shirt against my fat.

nelie 09-10-2004 09:15 PM

I'd like to wear a skirt that wasn't super long. I have a big booty and shorts that are knee length are too short because my booty will make the skirt rise and it doesn't look good.

KristinJ 09-10-2004 09:51 PM

my goal clothes are jeans too! A pair that fit well and that I can bend over in without feeling like I'm being cut in half. Oh and a normal length t-shirt, one that isn't long enough to cover my arse and tummy -- the kind that if I lifted my arms above my head would show my tummy and I wouldn't be embarrassed!

:lol3: Oh, I am so with you there, Kristin.

Ruthxxx 09-11-2004 08:51 AM

This is sort of silly but I want to be able to wear my mink coat comfortably - even just to Church on Christmas Eve!

Harry bought it for me on the morning of our first married day - I told you I was good! Unfortunately it has one of those high cut armholes and, even then, I had to be careful not to weat a jacket under it. I guess I could get it restyled but.....

Chubbamuma 09-11-2004 10:43 AM

Oh, I'd like to wear a little cute t-shirt. Not the kind that hangs your navel out or anything, but the kind that sits right at the waistband of my jeans. They have nice capped short sleeves.
So to do that, I need to a) loose the jelly roll around my tummy,
b) loose a tad of backfat around my braline. (dh says just don''t wear a bra and it isn't even noticable! (ok, right, that's gonna happen! lol!)
c) tone that underarm sag so it doesn't bash me in the face when I move my arm!

I'm workin' on it!

jenne1017 09-11-2004 12:46 PM

I want to be able to wear two layered ribbed tanks and shorts and not worry about my layers of fat showing. Those damn shirts show it ALL.

That's somewhat unattainable, I know.

Now it's just to fit into anything that's a size 12. I am in between in that a 16 is sometimes too big and I won't even get into a 14 until I get into the 180's...

SoCalBirdLady 09-11-2004 02:22 PM

Never could wear a bikini anyway . . .

But, I do remember tucking in blouses and tshirts. That is what I want -- whether it is a t-shirt with jeans or a nice blouse with dress slacks -- I just want to be able to tuck in my shirts!

Last time I did this I was a size 10 or 12 so I know it is attainable.

edieschmedie 09-11-2004 04:30 PM

My dress suits that are 10 & 12 sizes with out having pain trying to button & zip the skirts.

Sleeveless sweater without grossing myself out.

And anything thing that is currently stylish. What is it with these new styles that are only designed for women that are built like twiggy!!!!!!

I just want to be able to shop in a regular dept store for whatever is in season! I am so tired of shopping at Lane Bryant! (not that they don't have cut clothes, because they definitely do, just a little out of my price range!) Also, I would like to be able to look half way decent in a one piece swim suit.

Hey Jenn,

It's not unattainable! You can do it, it just may take longer than you'd like but don't sell yourself short.

I want to be able to wear shorts and skirts in the summer. I wore pants all through the summer, black pants mostly. I want to be able to shop at Express and New York and Company and stores that have their own Credit Cards  . I also own about 4 bikinis/tankinis and I want to be able to actually wear them..or wear my one-piece without the blasted shorts!

tigerlily29 09-11-2004 08:16 PM

I want to be able to wear tank tops or cute little sundresses. Next summer I want to be able to wear a bathing suit that doesn't have a skirt on it!!! Mostly I want to be able to get back in my wedding dress.

little chick 09-11-2004 08:53 PM

A Itsy Bitsy Tiny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

Heidi 09-11-2004 09:34 PM

This is a lot of fun!

Little Chick, you are the only one who admits to still wanting to get into a bikini. I actually would admit that a bikini top would be nice, but without costmetic surgery my crepe paper abdomen won't be seeing the sunlight :flow2:

I second all who said they want to shop in regular sizes again.

kahnfv 09-11-2004 10:01 PM

I want to be able to buy something lacey from Victoria's Secret. I am sooo tired of cotton granny panties.

Usagi 09-11-2004 10:15 PM

Lol, hey I admitted wanted to wear Bikinis! I'm just a little more pessimistic about my prospects of ever wearing one. Because now, they look like this on me ---> :sumo:

beachgal 09-13-2004 10:09 AM

Yup, a bikini...I'll have stretch marks and flabby skin until I have our children and we can afford the tummy/arm tuck surgery, but I think I'll be wearing a bikini with pride, anyway! If anyone notices, I'll just tell them the miraculous story about my lost weight! :D

I would love to tuck things in. I would love to shop in normal stores. I would love to wear one of those spaghetti strap tanks with a built in bra!

I have a gorgeous flared skirt from the GAP that is a size 14. I bought it when I started this journey and I cannot wait to fit into it! :D

Bamiegurl 09-13-2004 10:42 AM

Well no bikini dreams for me! Even when I could wear one I didn't. I'm not much on tanks either. DH is waiting for me to get a halter top to wear on the bike when we ride! Well he can keep on waiting! haha I would like to be able to wear straight skirts without hip buldges and t-shirts that fit and tuck them in. Maybe when I get in a comffy 10. I can get in one now but something about having to be able to breath while you wear them! haha i need to start my tummy tuck fund for when I reach goal! haha

HistoryChick 09-13-2004 10:48 AM

Well it would be nice to be able to wear a bikini...but we'll just have to see when I reach that point if I will wear one...I'd like to be able to wear a cute sun dress or a short skirt (not real short) But I agree with all of you...to be able to go into a regular store and be able to try on anything

GoldieFun 09-13-2004 12:12 PM

A little, little back dress. I'd love to wear an adorable little black dress for New Year's Eve and have it actually be comfortable. :) Also, I want to be able to wear the tall boots. I do have a pair that fits but I still think they look ridiculous. Mostly, I want to be able to wear cute maternity clothes from Target when i do get pregnant (eventually). :)

Well, I have to tell you all that a bikini or a tankini IS on the horizon for the ones that want to wear one. When I was young enough to wear a bikini, I never wore one because I was too self-conscious. I also had a girlfriend who wore one and she wore one very well..contributing to my self-conscious feelings and not wearing one when I could.

However, I set goal for myself this year and decided that when I was in the 140 pound range, I would wear a tankini and strut my stuff, even though I thought that I was a bit too heavy for it yet. Well, we went to Mexico this past summer. I packed 5 bathing suits - 2 fat bathing suits, 2 tankinis that were possibilities, and 1 binkini that I had purchased in Thailand at a weak moment 9 years ago, but had never worn. The first day, I decided to try one of the tankinis and it felt OK, so away I went. Of course, I decided to make note of what the other women were wearing. Yes, there were several very large women wearing bikinis. Although I would never wear one at that weight, I commend ladies who have the courage to wear what appeals to them. By the end of the week, I, too was wearing my bikini and it feels so good, knowing where you have come from with weight. If you want, do it. You deserve it.

While away, DH and I met three young school teachers who we befriended. As we were out one evening, they started to discuss their ages and made a comment about how DH and I were about the same ages as they were. Well, we were actually in university when the three of them were born. Needless to say, they all commented on looking and acting (we act like children when our kids aren't around to tell us how embarrassed they are  ) so young. They were also amazed that I wore a bikini as well as any young person in spite of the perceived flab that I have after 3 pregnancies.

My goal this year is to tone and firm the flab.

Now - what is my goal clothing. Right now, it is to wear and sexy little black dress out for dinner or a party some night. Although my weight is down to wear I can pull it off, I have terrible shoulders. As a young person, I swam competively and have the huge swimmer shoulders, turned flab. My goal is to tone them into something pleasant looking and pull off more sleeveless outfits in the future.

sarahyu 09-13-2004 04:01 PM

My goal clothes was a pair of levi's 501 jeans, button fly. They don't make them much bigger then a skinny size 14. And I don't think they are really a size 14. I walked into the Levi store one day a couple months ago and grabbed the largest pair they had to try on and on my gosh, they were too big! Yeah!

I'm actually too cheap to buy them, but it felt good to try them on. I'll wait until they go on sale to get a pair.

One day I too want to wear a bikini. I have actually started looking at them in the store. Try them on ocasionally. Then quicky take them off and hide again.

I also want to get the cute, sexy undies and sleepwear. Victoria Secret style stuff. I've started getting some

beachgal 09-13-2004 04:09 PM

I think I was one of those overweight women, Peggy! :o I have worn tank tops and sleeveless shirts all the time...even when I weighed 326. And I have always worn shorts. I figured if I was comfortable, who cared! ;)

I even wore a bikini when I was about 270, on my honeymoon. There is even a pic of me in it...eeek! Hey, it's a memory. And how often do we get to say that we look better than we did on our honeymoon? ;)

I would love to wear this outfit I have imagined in my mind for years...a black silk dress with a flared, knee length skirt, deep v-neck in front, spaghetti straps that cross in back to a very, very, deep v, thigh-high stockings with a seam up the back, and ankle strapped black heels. My hair up and a necklace with a long dangle in back. And breasts tiny and high enough to go without a bra. Woo-hoo! :flame: Of course, to get to that point, I'm going to need to spend a lot more time in the gym and get a bunch of surgery for my sags and bags. ;)

mauvaisroux 09-13-2004 04:52 PM

I would like to finally be able to wear a chinese dress, you know- the really fitted sleeveles ones with the mandarin collars. I swear the make them for women with no butts and no hips or thighs but I vow that one day I will own one! :D

nelie 09-13-2004 04:57 PM

I'm probably unusual in that I really don't try to wear clothes that hide my fat too well ;) I will wear tank tops/sleeveless shirts and shirts that go to my waist as well as fitted jeans (but not suffocating). I won't wear stuff that has buttons busting open or makes obvious bulges but I can't really help if I have some bulges and they aren't completely hidden.

I could never imagine myself in a bikini but it could happen. I definitely plan to get some plastic surgery when I'm at my goal weight to get rid of excess skin and tighten up.

yaya9577 09-13-2004 06:52 PM

Last summer I was in 16's and while I was still "Fatty McBackfat" with my jelly roll and floppy triceps...I was looking alot more toned and better. So, thats my goal now. I have a cute leather jacket someone gave me when I lost, so I REALLY want to be in that before winter ends.

BTW...does anyone have any ideas for toning that lovely squish?? I tried everything...weights & cardio with some luck, but I was still flabby.

nelie 09-13-2004 08:54 PM

cardio and weight lifting is the only thing that will get rid of the flab. You also have to keep working on your muscles with bigger and bigger weights, it'll take a bit but it'll work.

Chubbamuma 09-13-2004 09:15 PM

I found that doing side lunges with small weights can help the side flab, but obviously, since my flab is still around, it's been a while since I was faithful to the exercise religion.
Nelie, I think that if you act like you know who you are and you are comfy with yourself, that is way more beautiful than hiding all the "extra"! You sound like you dress fabdabulously! (is that a word? Lol!)

little chick 09-13-2004 09:48 PM

I have decided after some serious thoughts on this subject. ( I still do want to wear a bikini) That I would like to be able to walk around the house (when the kids are not around) NAKED and to be able to look in the mirror and think WOW.

Mamacita 09-14-2004 06:14 AM

This may sound silly, but I'd like to be able to wear a pair of slacks and not have the inner thigh fabric wear out from the friction of my legs rubbing together. :o

I just want to be able to wear regular sized clothing (US size 12 or smaller) and look nice in them.

Mamacita

GoldieFun 09-14-2004 09:16 AM

I think I saw in someone's signature around here that they wanted to be able to walk into Ann Taylor and buy a size 10 -- that would be pure BLISS to me as well!!!! B L I S S -- I truly can't imagine it!! In fact, I would be THRILLED to be able to walk into Ann Taylor and buy ANYTHING that fits! LOVE IT! OK, I think I am stealing that goal from whoever made it originally! :)

:) Lauren

P.S. I'd also LOVE to be able to SHOUT from the dressing room to the sales lady, "This is TOO BIG, do you have a 12?" ha! ha!

:lol3: That is perfect, Lauren! I'm adding that to my list of things I cannot wait to do!!! :D

I love LC's goal...I'm with you on that, girlfriend! I've never been a modest girl (perhaps to a fault), but since I gained this weight, I have been very uncomfortable changing at the gym and such. I want to feel comfortable in my skin again!

And amen to Mamacita...I would love to not only save the inside of my pants legs, but to be able to wear a skirt or dress without a pair of thigh protectors on! :o

I have to agree with you. DH was in China a few years ago - I was at my highest weight of 194 pounds, at the time. When he is away, he often buys clothes and/or material for me. Since he is an excellent shopper, I love the stuff that he brings back. From China, he brought the neatest two piece pant outfit in a Size XXXXL. I looked at the size and the immediate thought that went throught my head was "How big does he really think I am?" Anyway, I thought I would try it on to see if it could be altered small enough to fit.

I swear, I could not get that thing over my boobs. I have worn the outfit once...the day that I dropped to 125 pounds. I am hoping to wear it again. but will need to lose another 15 pounds before I will be able to do that.

Laurie, I really admire you. I admire women who are comfortable enough with themselves and their bodies to 'not give a darn.' I have a lot of baggage from my youth that prevents me from taking risks, but I am pushing myself outside of that comfort zone and becoming more daring. Contrary to "What Not to Wear," I have been going shopping in grubby clothes - just to prove that I can do it not feel guilty.

GoldieFun 09-14-2004 11:08 AM

Laurie -- THIGH PROTECTORS!!!!!!!!! I thought I was the ONLY ONE!! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! I cannot wear a skirt without them (or hose). I sooo can't wait to not need them anymore -- maybe by next summer!?

Ellis -- I use Spanx as my thigh protectors -- they are the comfiest and they are from QVC! :)

:) Lauren

Ok, did everyone just miss Little Chick wanting to run around naked? That is my absolute favorite!

Alas, the whole naked thing is not in my dreams. I do wish that I could wear a really slim cut sheath dress, with a fabulous string of huge pearls, and super high heels, and look like a supermodel. Not as thin, but you know that tall, elegant, sleek look. Somehow, sheath dress just don't look as good when you are only 5'3'' and your legs aren't 3/4 of your entire body.

Beyond that, a see through blouse with a super lacy bra and no little rolls of fat when I sit. Something really sexy. :D
