Introducing myself

Hi all,

My name is Lynn and I am so glad to have found this forum! I am in Melbourne, Australia and while the book is available here, South Beach Diet recipes are really hard to find. (The book is three times the price it is in the US - how does that work???)

Anyhow, I've just started Phase 1 and the recipe section of this site is great! It's a bit of a challenge to convert all the measurements and find substitutes for some of the ingredients though  We don't have Crystal Lite here, nor any of these flavour syrups that keep getting mentioned! We don't even have Cool Whip Lite!!

But am enjoying thinking about what I eat and getting inspiration from all of you so thanks!

Hi Lynn, welcome to the beach. :)

Hi Lynn

I`m in Melbourne Australia as well :dancer:

Currently on Day 1 of Phase 1.

I found the South beach Diet "Good fats Good Carbs Guide" in K-Mart, for just under $10. They didn`t have the 1st book, or the cook book  ....

There are a lot of great recipes on here...... so I`m not rushing out to find the other books.

online conversions

Maybe this website can help you with the conversion process.

I have the same, but opposite, problem. I'm from the US but living in Germany where everything is measured in metric!!!

It's nice to see another Antipodean on the board. The advantage of living down under is the tendency to eat more natural foods anyway. I just base my meals around the food lists in the FAQ section of this board.

Hi everyone and thanks for the hearty welcome.
I've lurked at SBD forum off and on and am happy to say that now I am on day 5 of Phase 1.
I'm lovin' the beach so far!!
There are so many great recipes I can't wait to try. I plan on making these two tonight:

Shrimp Fried "Rice"

Kyrui Su (Japanese Cucumber Salad)

I was inspired to head to the beach by a friend who has lost 65 lbs. the SB way.
