In Need of Prayers

  • Well, as most of you know, I work three jobs, and not because I enjoy working myself to death. My fiance has been out of full-time work for 6 months, because the lab he was working at shut down. He's been on unemployment, and last month started waiting tables at O'Charley's, but makes very little money doing so. Today we found out that his unemployment has expired, and that "No Further Unemployment Option is Currently Available."

We're out $1100 a month now. He's applied EVERYWHERE and nobody is hiring here. Springfield is a government town, and there are hiring freezes everywhere.....I really don't know what we're going to do. I can only afford to send $200/month his way, and that's leaving me with $49 for gas for the month.

And as if my day wasn't bad enough, my assistant (who I thought I was going to have to fire next week) informed me that tomorrow is his last day, leaving me by myself, missing an important conference next week, and getting no day off next week (shorting my hours at Job #2.)

So for all of you who pray, please say a prayer for Lisa and Terry. We're leaving it up to God, but even though we know He'll take care of everything, it's still kinda scary right now. Thanks everybody.

PS Anyone want to buy some Pampered Chef?
  • Sorry to hear...will definitely pray
I will definitely send prayers your way. I know what you are going through as we were in a similar situation for over a year. God will take care of you and things will get better. Talk to people who may be able to help you and consider all your options. Meantime, prayers are coming your way.
  • You will definitely have my prayers. My DH was laid off in Oct 2001 and hasn't found anything yet. The computer industry is in sad shape in Dallas. That why I get so nervous every time they do layoffs like they did yesterday.
  • You certainly have my empathy and well wishes. I have lost jobs too many times to recall, & struggled a lot. Also sorted out the true friends during those times. Wishing you & yours much better times. Not to get political, but I just don't see a lot of jobs out there for many folks.
  • So sorry you've hit a big bump in Life but you WILL get through it. Prayers on the way. (((Lisa and Terry)))
  • (((HUGS))) You have the right attitude. Things will work out. Stay strong!
  • (((Lisa and Terry))) God will provide for you, I don't when and I don't how but He will. Prayers going your way. The job market isn't too promising anywhere right now.
  • Lisa my prayers are with you too. Those bumps in the road only make us stronger. Hang in there I am sure all will work out. Hugs to both of you.
  • Thanks
I really do appreciate everyone's support and prayers. Terry has put in about a zillion more resumes, so we'll hope that something comes up. Keep praying!!!!!
  • You two will deffinetly be in my prayers! God has a funny way of coming to the rescue when you least expect it but always know He'll be there!
  • You are in my prayers. Good luck.

  • Sorry for your troubles. I'll be thinking of you and praying that things will turn around soon.
  • I really hope things start to go better for you, you are in my prayers too.
    Good Luck!
  • Lisa, I just got back from the cottage and saw this. I'm saying prayers for you and Terry right now, and I'll get my DH going, too.
Hang in there, sweetie. All will be well.
  • Hiya, weezle--

I know what you mean about the government jobs here drying up. My husband and I are keeping a leery eye on the news these days with the state budget stalled in Springfield, as we both work at public colleges.

Keep the faith though, sister. Every time it's been close for us financially, we have found a way through it, and so will you.

If your hubby is an internet addict, you might have him check out www.oddtodd.com . If you haven't already heard of it, OddTodd is a guy that started a website to reach out to fellow laid off folks back in 2001 and has pretty much ended up making that website his living. His cartoons are very funny; good humor for people that are down on their luck. It was the only thing that got my husband to laugh during the 6 months he spent job hunting after grad school. Just a thought.

Many good vibes coming your way,
    Monica
