Default Nasty nasty pasta

Yuck. Unfortunatley, I don't remember the name. it's in a bright box (maybe green and red?) and it's made from soy. This is the grossest stuff I've ever put in my mouth. The pasta is a brownish color, and it looked like real pasta, even after it had cooked. But I put one peice of it in my mouth to see if it was done and OMG it was awful. First, it seemed to expand, then it crumbled into a gazillion pieces that I couldn't get rid of no matter how much or how violently I spit. I ended up wiping off my tongue and the inside of my mouth with a paper towel, lol. It was horrible and 20 minutes later I was still spitting out little peices of the stuff.

Ew!

Wendy, have you tried Whole Wheat pasta? It tastes really good! It has this extra nutty flavor, like you put a ton of parmesan in your pasta. Otherwise, it's just the same as regular pasta.

I got a low carb wheat pasta from, of all places, Wal-Mart and I like it. I mean, it's not "rela" pasta, but I think I more enjoy the stuff that goes on the pasta anyway, than just the pasta itself!

My entire family eats the Whole wheat pasta and enjoys it - even my 7 year old. I just load up lots of veggies with it so I am not tempted to eat too large of a portion.

I'm having trouble find whole wheat products, and other grains, for that matter. My store had this nassty pasta, and another type that was an enriched wheat product - did not say whole wheat. And as far as other grains are concerned, all I can find other than rice is barley - and that's it.

Where do you live? I've found whole wheat in the organic section of my regular grocery store (Tom THumb) and in the pasta section of Target and Whole Foods Market.

Wendyjo, can you post the name of the region you live in (if you don't want to say the city or state) and we can all help you find this stuff? I know that my local Wegman's has a small selection in the Nature's Market, but the Wegman's a town over has a huge selection. You can always ask them to order it, or you can drive to another town and pick it up. The good thing about pasta is that it lasts forever!

Jenn, is the low carb pasta whole wheat? If not, it's not really SBD. Remember, we really don't care about carbs. We can have Durum Semolina from time to time (it's in the Very Limited category), but otherwise, you want to stick with whole wheat, spelt, soy, etc. What are they using to make your pasta low carb? The ones I have seen are very light in color, making me think that they are a combo of semolina and soy or rice. Is that true? If so...not the best choice, sadly. I'm sure they taste good!

Our brands are different up here in the Great White North but whole wheat pastas are available even in small towns. Keep searching.

Yes, if you live in Canada, Catelli makes a Healthy Harvest whole wheat pasta. It is really yummy.

Two words -
Hodgkin's Mills - I checked their website - all their whole wheat pasta is whole grain.

I tried soy flour pasta - nasty, nasty!
