Simply Sunday Chatter - March 21

  • Good morning! It's snowing here on the second day of spring! Sheesh!

Having two separate threads yesterday didn't result in as many posts so we're back to a single one. Our lives are full of good stuff and bad stuff so let's just chat away. Friday was a terrible day but it's over now.

The Hyper Pypers arrived as planned and were just as Hyper as usual. Margo brough a to-die-for lasagna and we had a gorgeous cheesecake so I am in carb overload this morning. (I also sampled some fudge but I'm trying to forget that!) The dogs were good and very funny. Hersh snapped into Mother mode and was very busy trying to keep Lucy and Bailey from being rowdy and trying to pin B. so she could wash her ears! I swear she knows B. is one of her puppies although she sees her only two to three times a year. All in all it went well and I even enjoyed the chaos and noise. H. went to bed at 8:30 when it was all in full spate!

Today I have very little on my plate (cheesecake is finished) but do have to mix more dog food and do the pre-Gail tidy. I think Church may be on the skip list again as I know H. will sleep late.

No sound from The Girls as yet - playing for hours is exhausting - but I am off to wake them and get cracking on kitchen cleanup. It was late so it's not in perfect shape to start the day! FlyLady is shaking her finger at me!

Pull up a chaise and chat a bit! Ignore my snow! I'm pretending it's white sand!

    Have a super Sunday!
  • Good!? What's good about it!? It's snowing again!
    Going to get coffee...

That's so sweet about Hershey being a "mom".
  • morning all
snowing here again also on day 2 of spring. it rained and stormed all day yesterday, we need a few dry sunny days to get rid of the swamp i used to call a back yard. my poor doggies hate it when it is swampy out there because that means after they go outside (in and near the swamp) their huge hairy chow-chow paws soak up a bucket of mud and they have to spend "drying time" behind the baby gate in the laundry room and they don't like it one bit. they whine a little and look at me over the gate then lay down and whine and look at me from under the gate until i finally give in and let them back into the rest of the house. what they don't understand is it is a whole lot easier to clean up the tile floor than it is to remove muddy splotches from the carpeting.

dh is going to work for a while today so i will get the house in order and wash some clothes and later we are supposed to meet his mom for dinner. so a fairly calm and quiet day here.
hope everyone has a great day!!
  • Well, Lordy! It must be snowing over the whole world this morning; here too....nasty wind too. Our old house, as much as we love it, is full of drafts especially when the wind blows. I plan on hunkering down with my pile of library books after I clear up from some furniture rearranging yesterday. Moved my huge desk to the bedroom up over the curved staircase; I refused to watch, sure they would break the stair rail. But no, all went well. So my monster treadmill was moved to the other side of the living room where it still looks very strange in what was the original kitchen of the house. Not much room in 175 yr. old house for gym equipment.
Time for a second infusion of coffee. Everybody have a good day, snow or not.

  • Good morning!

Well it isn't snowing here in LA. Today we continue working on our massive project to re-landscape the back yard. Two guys are working with us to jackhammer out an old, cracked patio area so that we can plant grass, flowers and vegetables. Since gardening is new to me as I lived in a condo for 14 years until about a year ago, I am sure I will be discussing this with you gardening chicks in more detail as the project moves along.

I am bringing my father over to help with some bulb planting in the front yard. He has early Alzheimers and my mother will be gone for most of the day so it will give him something to do so she won't worry. And, given his age and diagnosis, we can enjoy the time together.

Interestingly we went over to some friends' last night and they had just returned from a conference where they met Dr. A in person and got the book. They are excited about starting SBD and everything we had to eat was clearly on program (oh, ok, I ate the chicken skin again, but that was ALL I did wrong).

So tomorrow I technically start phase 2 but I am not really intending to add that much as my weight loss so far is only 4-5 lbs (depending on what mood my scale is in). I do plan to have a slice of lo-carb rye toast this morning.

How are things in everyone else's neck of the woods?
  • Hey chicks a quick hello and goodbye! Busy day today. Spendin time with dh and all. haha It's time for trading Spaces so I gotta jet. I'll check in later maybe!
  • Good evening Not being a real morning person I don't even look at my puter until the afternoon (or in the evening like tonight).

Did pilates this morning. Man am I sore! I really learned just how weak my muscle are today. But I will persevere! No pain no gain right. After that I had a fun filled day of fighting traffic at one of the local malls to get a friends birthday gift. I despise going places like that on the weekend for that very reason.

Went to the bookstore to get the Good Fats/ Good Carbs book only to find they did not have it. I settled for one titled The New Glucose Revolution Complete Guide to Glycemic Index Values which lists both the GI and GL values. I figured it was probably similar to what I was looking for.

Came home, nursed migraine for a bit, then talked to DB for a bit on the phone. Made some really yummy scallop scampi from a recipe I found on allrecipes.com (love their recipes). And now here I am trying to get caught up with everything.

    Everyone have a great Monday!
