thursday chat
Morning everyone!
Well, I just had pancakes for breakfast, in the most legal way. Someone posted a recipe for them but I could not find it so I went ahead and did my thing. I had two eggs, a big spoon of FF fromage frais, and some splenda. cooked it in a bit of I cant beleive its not butter. It was fabby!!! But now I want more :( as is always the way. I was thinking that one could do it just with egg whites and whisk them up a bit to make it lighter and more airy (and go further..... ) Yum yum. Sadly they stuck to the pan and ended up a bit.....scrambled. But that was ok. Overcast day here today. My unusual lecture on islam and shamanism last night was actually not so unusual at all, and was in fact about all the main spiritual traditions and their teachings on the marriage of the masculine and feminine priciples. In fact I dont think Shamanism got much of a look in. I might have more pancakes for lunch...... |
Just reread my previous post......it sounds weird. I am not weird. Am I?
|
:smoking: Yeah, man. You're like, totally weird, Clovey.
Are you in a stream of consciousness? I can't sleep. Darned bladder. I figured I may as well get up and sort out my finances. They're looking better than I thought. :D |
Yup! You are weird!. Were you hoping we wouldn't notice?
Good morning! Getting a coffee started and then will be back. |
Good morning ladies
Ruth and Ellis~~~Come back after you get your coffee (don't go back to bed). Clovey~~I make small "pancakes" (cookie size) using Eggbeaters, oatmeal, LF cottage cheese, Splenda, cinnamon and vanilla extract. I have even added alittle chopped apple or blueberries (YUM). Sometimes I even throw in some protein powder. Jennie~~What a good friend you are to clean your GF's house for her. I hope she appreciated it. So sorry for the loss of your friends :grouphug: Nascar Girl~~Wasn't it lovely yesterday?!! Definately a Zyrtec day, with the beginning of pollen season. When I go out today, I think I'll put the top down on the car and get some fresh air. HELLO SPRING :flow2: MaryHelen~~ Congrats on your 5# loss :bravo: and good luck with your lab tests. DynaGirl~~I'm so glad that your US came out negative :cp: Meredith~~Woohoo!!! 4 pounds gone. Now, don't you feel better?? Pebbles~~How's the kitchen remodel coming along? All those who were feeling sick yesterday, I hope you have a better day today. Gotta get more coffee ** Can we get a coffee cup icon???** |
:smoking:
|
Good Morning Chicks!!! :)
Clovey, you crack me up!!! Just wanted to share this w/ my beach buddies: I've been having severe headaches, mostly at the end of the day. My eyes would hurt from straining so I assumed it was because I needed a new prescription for my glasses, which I've worn since sixth grade. I had even quit driving unless absolutely neccessary because it was such a strain on my eyes to see. Anyways, the Doctor did his exam and informed me that my eyesight has actually improved and my current glasses are too strong!!! In fact, he wants me to only wear glasses when I'm driving, watching tv for long periods of time, needing to see longer distances, etc. But I dont have to wear them 24/7 anymore!!!! He attributes this to my weight loss! Another positive result from getting w/ the program. (Duh Traci, you didnt notice you could actually see? lol Nope, just a habit of throwing on the glasses first thing everyday and not taking them off til bedtime.) Ok, sorry to brag!!! I was just amazed! Thanks for listening!!! Have a wonderful, warm, OP day today!!! :grouphug: Traci |
Good grief, Traci! That's too bizarre! How wonderful for you!! :)
Sil, I fell back to sleep in the TV room. :D Have to get the kids up... back shortly... |
Great news, Traci! I didn't realize weightloss could improve your eyesight!
I'm back after coffee and doggie duty and just had a NSV (Non-Scale Victory). I tried on a pair of size 14 pants and could get them on! Too tight but it means I'm down a size from an 18 to a 16! What a great feeling! The weight isn't moving much but something is shifting. Maybe I'm developing fat armpits? It has to go somewhere. It's a really "soft" morning today - fog and a mist of rain. Very springlike! More of the snow melted at the side steps and I can see snowdrops peeking up. A day of sun and they'll be on bloom - a Kodak moment! It's happening! Aside from a walk in my new walking shoes this morning, I am going to do very little. Jane comes to be with Harry this afternoon and I'll finally get to town for a pedometer. If this one screws up, I'll give up on the darn things! Have a happy Thursday, Beach Babes! |
Congrats Ruth!!! I love to shop for new clothes especially in new sizes! And I know what you mean about things fitting better but the scale not moving. My husband tries to tell me my weight has just shifted to my mouth.  (In a way, I like to have a pair of jeans that dont quite fit hanging in my closet. It gives me a little extra motivation.)
The doctor said that losing a significant amount of weight can alter the fluids in your body such as in your eyes which affects your vision. Also, being a Type 1 Diabetic, by losing the weight I've gotten my blood sugars under excellent control which is also related to eyesight. :) |
Hmmm, weight loss improving eye sight?? Well, I do know that 22 years ago when I lost 180 pounds (ex-hubby) I was able to see things much clearer~
|
Ruth, what a fantastic NSV :bravo:
|
Ruthie, that's wonderful news! :hat:
|
Ruth that is totally fantastic!! I love it when clothes fit again. I have got these two practically transparent pretty blouses with roses on, one green and one white and pink. And they fit!!! But I am too shy to wear them because of the 'seeing my bra' thing. :o Maybe I should go sexy undies shopping.....???
|
Just don't wear a bra, Clovey. :D
|
Good Mornin chickies! It's 61 and climbin up to 75 today.
Yea Ruth! Congrats dyna on the good news! Gavinsmom that's pretty cool. It will take laser surgery for me to not wear my specs. Which hopefully doc will approve this year. Now if I can get dh on board. A guy he works with had it and has had to go back several times and so he does not want me to have it now. UGH! Clovey.. Weird? hum I didn't want to say anything but now that the cat is outta the bag! hahahahaha Ellis I come in here when I get up most of the time cause if I start watchin tv I'll go right back to sleep. Especially after the kids leave. If I know I want to go back to sleep I'll usually just watch tv on the couch. Sil more gardenin today? Ok ladies (and gents) another OP day for us all! |
good morning everyone
everyone is up so early and sounds so chipper this am just another sign spring is very near. congrats ruth!!! i've noticed my clothes loosening also even though the scale didn't move much this week. good luck with the pedometer. i don't know about wierd clovey.............i prefer to use the term interesting!! as far as sexy undies shopping goes what about a cute camisol (sp?) or tank to go under the invisible flowered shirt? traci thats great your eyesight improving, another bonus to loosing weight that's one i would never of thought of, i've been wearing glasses (or contacts) since 2nd grade. i would of thought the same as you that my eyes were worse not better. hope you all have a great day today |
Clovey, just use round band-aids. Corn plasters work well but be sure to get the non-medicated ones or your nipples will fall off! on the other hand, that would solve the problem somewhat!
|
Quote:
:yikes: The only plasters I have in the house are Harry Potter motif-ed. But maybe if I could find a Snape/Alan Rickman one it would be ok.......... :censored: |
:D Must be a full moon today! You people are just too funny!
Day two of Phase I. Trying to stay OP but family is not co-operating--they want carbs! I tried to pick out the rice from my chicken and rice meal, but I am afraid a few little grains were consumed along with my skinless chicken. Now they want spaghetti! Oh no, what to do?? |
My goodness, page two so early today!!!
Hey everyone!!!! Thanks for the congrats AND congrats to all of you for a good week so far! Way to go with the old clothes, Ruth! I know what you mean...it's nice when things fit. I went yesterday (the day before?) to try on pants and I can actually fit into a size 10, which hasn't happened since jr high, I think. Clovey: You are definitely not weird! You are just beating your own drum, and good for you... The quinoa was fine in terms of cravings for me. I found this blurb about it: QUINOA Quinoa is a member of the goosefoot family, and yields a supergrain. It is native to the Andes, and was a staple of the Incas (who called it the ‘mother grain’). One cup has more calcium and protein than a quart of milk. Ounce for ounce it has as much protein as meat, contains all of the essential amino acids, and has high amounts of iron and calcium. All in all, it comes closer than any other food in supplying all of the nutrients needed for life. *** I have found that I actually am less hungry and do better when I can incorporate some carbs, but that when I eat things like potatoes (which I did this weekend past at a family function) I can't stop. But if I eat the whole grains, I am able to be more satisfied and have less of an urge to overeat them. Except for pasta. I could eat my weight in the whole wheat pasta (so thank goodness my weight is shrinking!) Otherwise, busy day ahead, no rest for the weary lawyer. Check in later... Thanks again really for all your support. Now if I can just get through the mammogram unscathed, well, I'll be unscathed. Go being a woman! --Dynagrrl. |
Lou lou - make them spagetti and you just have the sauce.
Spagetti is horrid anyway, all that wheat puffing you up like a sugar puff, and all that slurpy mess. Nah, you can do without it. Make them spagetti, and have the sauce for you. You will be fine. You can do this. :cheer: |
Loulou - spaghetti squash! Or zucchini cut into strips with a peeler and steamed.
And yes there will be a full moon this weekend so us nutcases are coming out of the woodwork! |
Ladies - I can't even find the words. You're all loopy! I love it! :dizzy:
Congrats to Ruth on the pants - and clovey, darling, here....have a dancing banana - it's the best I could do.... :cb: Have a great OP day everyone!! :) :) :) |
What a nice way to wake up! I was all crabby getting out of bed but now Im crying from laughing!
Ruth- pedometers are the best. Most of my recent jobs have been waitressing and bartending and since I live downtown, I walk everywhere. It was always rewarding to notice that on a day I didn't hit the gym, I could still walk 6 miles. Thats the one fitness gadget that I can plug until I'm blue in the face. I bought a new pilates DVD yesterday and have to try it out today. I ordered some ballet ones from Amazon so they won't be here till monday or so. I go through such phases with working out. A month straight I won't do anything but videos then all of a sudden I'm sick of them and I just go to the gym. Now if I could only do both videos and the gym everyday I'd be just fine! Have a great day everyone, its coffee time. :D |
New to SBD
I am new to the SBD, 3rd day! I can already see and feel a difference. :)
|
Welcome, C-handla! You're very brave to jump in with this bunch of wackos!
|
welcome c-handla! You guys are so funny I really missed out in the bantering by not showing up until now! I keep hearing people talk about spagetti squash what the heck is it and how do you prepare it?
Ruth congrats on the sqeezing into a 14. Now that you can fit into a 16 you don't have to only shop at fat people stores! :cb: Hooray! I'll be happy when I don't have to only shop at fat people stores, I am feeling thinner the last couple of days and I get weighed and measured on Mon so we'll see if I've gotten any closer! Clovey, I don't think you're wierd I think you're cool! :smoking: Get a nude colored tank to go under it, hahaha that would be funny.People would sure do a double take! Thanks for the info on Quinoa Dynnagrl, I think I'll have to try some. LouLou I would make them their spagetti and make yourself a nice big chix breast and you can put spaghetti sauce and mozzarella on it. Mmmmm. Or you can do the zuchini strips(ooohh maybe even with it) or that spagetti squash thing(even though I am not sure what that is!) Traci, congrats on the eyesight improving and getting your sugar under better control. I have a friend who is a type 1 she has a lot of problems with ketones(sp?) and says she can't do a lower carb diet. I don't understand it. |
Afternoon Chicks! I've been busy today at work:comp: trying to get some of this stack off my desk. I did take off early yesterday :s: I need to do that today too, but must stay here. It's very warm today about 78-79! Can someone Pass the sunscreen?
Clovey & Ruth ya'll crack me up  Everyone is so nutty today it must be the weather! 2Bfit - lovin this warm weather! Already breaking out the sandles and capris! I'll be outta the loop tomorrow, going to help my brother do some painting....I know I'm nuts! So that should be some good exercise, up & down a ladder! Someone go ahead and mail the muscle relaxers to me I'll need them in order to move my bod on Saturday :yikes: Gavinsmom so great to hear about the vision!! :mag: My sister in laws vision improved with her pregnacy. Well better get back to work :write: Have a great day gals! |
Dr. Agaston says tassels will solve your problem, clovey. It's on page 85 of the book.
 |
Y'all are crackin me up today!
c-handla Welcome! Don't worry we (they) are not always this bad sometimes we (they) are worse! Hope you like the beach! I went and pulled some weeds for about 30 mins and now my knee is throbing with pain. I may have to take sumin for it as bad as I hate to. I'll have the kids go pick up all the weeds when they get home. DH will probably not even notice but if he does he may pass out on the driveway! I'm goin to fix me some Gorton's Cajun spice fish for lunch. I'm really tryin to eat more fish. I had orange roughy yesterday when I was out with my mil. Healthy Healthy Healthy! Although as slow as the service was I thought it was gonna be supper instead of lunch. Atleast I had a nice view of Lake Guntersville while we waited and waited and waited.. ok I know y'all get the picture we had to wait! Ok check y'all chickies later! |
Bamiegurl-fish is one of my favorite foods. Its amazing the ways to prepare it. Between the restaurants I've worked in and the Alaskan fishing trip and living right on the Missouri river, I think I've tried every kind possible. If anyone needs advice on fish, I'll be happy to help. I only clean and fillet my own so I won't do the dirty work for everyone!
Welcome c-handla! I'm only in the second week of SBD but as you can tell everyone here likes the program and this is the place for information-and always a good laugh! Nascar-send me some of that beautiful weather and I'll be more than happy to help you out with the sunscreen! I suppose, its time to quit chatting and shopping online and get some work done. |
Well Meredith (and anyone else) since you offered! I have really been wanting to try Salmon but I am afraid I will not like it and is kind of expensive and do not want to waste my money on a meal out. :dizzy: I love most seafood and freshwater fish. I don't like a real fishy taste or smell. Is it a strong fish or a mild one. I would rather eat it out than cook it at home. thanks for any info you can give me. ;)
|
Turning to page 85 of the book......tassle twirling......oh no, look it says here we can only use Good tassles, and Good twirls...........
life is never easy.... :mag: |
Welcome, c-handla, to the nuthouse aka The Beach! We are nutsy today!
Clovey - you can make tassels out of spaghetti squash! Or you can crochet pasties! (I have to find a picture of spaghetti squash and post it. I think there are recipes in the recipe section somewhere.) I'm back from my respite care and got a pedometer THAT WORKS which means I'll no longer be teased about my mechanical abilities by two certain chicks in here! I'll start clocking the steps tomorrow - although we are supposed to have rain and maybe even a bit of that white stuff. :( I got some tuna steaks for dinner (nearlyas much as a puppy sale!) and have them marinating to broil for dinner. With a spring greens salad and some multi-grain bread it will be an OP Phase I dinner. Let's all try to be serious, mature and adult tomorrow - OK? You first, clovey and ellis! I've forgotten how! |
Oh no not adults that takes all the fun out of it! Besides it's Friday! Wait til Monday then try if you must. But you did ask the other two to go first so I think we're ok and have nuttin to fear!
Clovey you are so funny!  :o Ruth what does tuna like that tastes like? I love it with mayo but never had it in a steak form. |
I'm Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everybody!
Just got back from 5 weeks on the real beach of Marco Island, Florida. It was absolutely wonderful to swim, take long walks on the beach , look for interesting shells, watch the sunsets.....and eat and eat and eat seafood! Now the task of taking off the weight that I put on with such carefree glee! Boy did I miss all this loony humor. I see from today/s posts that all is normal here on the forum. Never a dull moment! :dizzy: Clovey....you must try the tassels with the tiny lights. Then we can see you coming in the dark! ;) :D The blouses do sound fabulous!!! Ruth......What a great feeling getting into those 14's! I'm proud of you! :bravo: Ellis....glad to hear one of us is financially stable! ;) :o I promise to jump in earlier tomorrow. Don't anybody get serious on me before then! Hugs to you all!!!!! :grouphug: Sharon  |
Sharon, so glad you're back, hon! :grouphug:
And glad to hear you had a good time!! |
Bamie- salmon can taste kind of fishy depending on how its cooked. Salmon steaks have bones, but they are easy to eat around and fillets sometimes have skin still which wigs a lot of people out but its a tough skin and the meat comes right off. Smoked is my favorite. I think lox is pieces of smoked salmon. Its also good grilled or baked. I usually soak fresh salmon in milk to take the fishy taste out a little.
And tuna steaks are the best. They are firm almost like chicken breast but they flake off like a fish. It can be grilled, broiled, baked, poached or panfried. i like tuna with either lemon pepper or cajun spiced. its a lot different from tuna in a can, but if you like canned tuna and you like chicken breast than you should like tuna steak. At a restaurant sometimes they don't cook them all the way through and the middle isn't done so I always order it well done. |
tanx S D C I appreciate all the info it gives me sumin to ponder next time I am eatin out. Skin don't bother me cause Mai Mai has skin on it. (Sp? on mai)
Deets Welcome Back Welcome Back Welcome Back Welcome Back! (to the tune of welcome back Kotter) tee-hee Glad see your chair is no longer empty. |
